Amazing the best vegan Trinidadian restaurant in uptown Northwest DC , everything is amazing curry shrimp boss up shot Curry crab, and her doubles are amazing The prices are insane

Had a craving for Trini food tonight and was looking forward to trying out this restaurant. I went to the website (https://www.sunrisedccaribbean.com/menus) listed on Yelp and Google and found that it was not up to date since it listed the vegan beef as being accompanied with ice cream (see picture). I called the restaurant to let them know about the error and inquire about the menu, so I could place an order. The man who picked up the phone literally laughed at me and said "I don't do online" and handed it off to someone else. The woman he handed to did not have a much better attitude. I shared the website menu issues and even took the time to send her the screenshots. I asked her if she could help me with a menu / offerings so I could place an order, and she said they were closing down. I reminded her that it's 7:23 PM and they don't close until 10:00 PM (per Yelp) or 8:00 PM (per Google). Her response was only that I could order whatever they have left, if I wanted to - verbatim. I wanted to ensure that I wasn't reading into it, and even said, "It doesn't sound like you want me to order", and she just said that it's up to me how I want to take it. =(The interaction was quite disappointing and far from welcoming, so regrettably, I will not be dining here and will check out other Caribbean restaurants in the area, like Teddy's and the Angry Jerk.

Went recently and the service, the food, and vibes was nice. While waiting watched the greet everyone that entered, handled catering orders, help elder patrons with paying, and so much more. If you haven't been here yet def try the Trinbagonian options and also the vegan option (vegan or not).

I've been wanting, needing, and missing good Trinidadian food since I moved from Brooklyn and finally I had my tastebuds satisfied (sorry no pictures). The menu was absolutely stacked with everything you'd ever want from a trini spot; doubles, aloo pie, phlourie, bakes, sorrel, rotis done with all the curried meats-goat, chicken, shrimp etc. I knew I had to have a curry chicken roti with extra pepper and tamarind and then a couple of doubles with the same. These were not the best doubles I've had but I've had some phenomenal doubles back in my Brooklyn days but these were good enough to satisfy me. The roti, though not with boneless chicken, (perhaps I'm bougie or have been spoiled) was really good though. Now that I know this place is up there, I'll likely try to find my way back for another visit. I want to run through more of the menu and maybe even check out some of the vegetarian/vegan options as well. Service was pleasant and the wait time was pretty standard.

Got a barbecue vegan beef platter for me and jerk chicken for my husband. We both loved our meals plus they were super nice. I'm glad to learn about this place, we'll definitely be back .

I ordered through DoorDash and everything came out hot. I really appreciated Sunrise calling me as soon as the order was submitted that the oxtails would take extra time. Much rather know in advance than be waiting for an order I expected 30 minutes sooner. Also ordered jerk chicken and the dishes are plentiful. I'm not sure I'd order the oxtails again, not that it wasn't tasty but that's something I might order when dining in but the jerk chicken was amazing and the rice and greens they include is abundant.

I was craving trini food bad and had this restaurant on my next food adventure. I was welcomed with open arms and had difficulty choosing what I wanted since they have so many delicious options (including vegetarian and vegan options.) I settled for the chicken curry with dhalpuri. I had questions as to what dhalpuri was and they proudly answered questions I needed answers for. I just knew from the first bite that I was going to come back to try more. the curry chicken was packed with flavors and paired amazing with the dhalpuri. I also got a passionfruit and sorrel drink, which both are to DIE FOR. My personal favorite was the passionfruit and the sorrel packed a nice, sweet punch to it. I have to go back and try their other menu items. truly an amazing experience and with wonderful staff that are always there to help with a smile!

We picked 50 roti skins from this place on Christmas Eve they where so terrible nobody liked them at all they were the worse roti's I ever had in my life they was full of turmeric color was bad. never again

Food & service. My experience was very poor. Owner couldn't take accountability and criticism. Expressed professionally about my experience and was attacked instead. I was embarrassed and more importantly unheard as a customer . We aren't always right but this time, the customer was.
