This visit came from many positive reviews and of course recommended by friends. The decor gave off warmth and it has a slight rustic feel. Lots of wood, and a bison over the fireplace in the bar. The seasonal decorations were beautiful, tastefully done. The menu is 2 sided with an adequate selection which said to us, they do theur dishes with quality and not overreaching. And a real plus is they offer local wines, great way to support local businesses. Boordy has many excellent wines, both sweet, dry...something for everyone. My husband chose the meatloaf with mashed and green beans. He loved it. It was all to his liking. Everything was flavorful. I was not as lucky, I chose the open faced turkey sandwich (hot) with fries and gravy over everything. It was huge, filling a small platter. The only problem was the gravy was thin and watery and even though there was plenty of gravy, it was a soggy, runny mess. The flavor was barely there. SSMC is a well established business and this was.not up to the quality we expected. After pouring this into the plastic box to take home, it was a short car ride later with it leaking it into the plastic bag. Ugh. Removing it from the gravy coated bag was no treat either.A plastic soup container with a lid would have worked better, leaving no mess to deal with.We probably will be back for some of the daily specials. They sounded good. You can see them at the bottom of the menu. The service was great, all the staff was very friendly and helpful. Also, they do give either senior or military discounts, I'm not sure which was applied.

Came here with a group of 10 and our waitress was just on point! She didn't forget anyone's drink order or special requests, but could have been a little better with refilling waters. I got a margarita- which was pretty good and not too sweet at all. I didn't like that the menu didn't post prices of drinks - I wasn't the one paying, but wanted to be mindful of what I ordered. For appetizer, we shared an 8 count wings and my indecisive personality loved that we were able to choose 2 different sauces! The garlic parmesan was really good, but the buffalo was super salty. Also needed a side of blue cheese or ranch, but it didn't come with any! Next, we shared a full rack of ribs and also got to choose a sauce for each half - honey bourbon was the winner over BBQ. The ribs were on the smaller side (we actaully were still hungry after all this food!) We got a side of cole slaw and fries - both good. The fries don't come pre-seasoned.

The ribs were ok. We got the sampler and it was cold and hard. Not like it used to be to be. Won't be going back there.

I attend this location frequently but this is my first time trying it for restaurant week. Here are my thoughts:- The customer service from bartender Jason was phenomenal. He was our waiter while we sat at the booth in the bar area. He was fast, kind, extremely efficient, prepared, and attentive. I have no complaints. 5/5 for customer service.- My son's ribs were filling and large but a bit pricey. The broccoli was a little mushy but definitely seasoned. The fries had a good crunch but was only warm (not hot). Overall his meal was about 3.8/5- I ordered the fried pickles, stuff shrimp with broccoli, and bread pudding. I used to love their fried pickles but now I don't. They changed the recipe and now serve them like a thin basket of fries. Previously, they were thick (like a spear) and served in a tall basket that stood up. The new formula and presentation used extremely thin, nearly shredded pickles. Again, the broccoli was mushy but seasoned. The stuffed shrimp was delicious but the portion was so small. It didn't feel like I got my money's worth for the restaurant deal. The bread pudding was really tasty but I wish I had ice cream to add to it. Anyway, I would rate that full meal as a 3.3/5 for portion and mushy veggies.- My spouse's meal was the boom boom shrimp, pork chops with mash potatoes & coleslaw, and black bottom cheesecake. The boom boom shrimp was very good but we did ask for ranch dipping sauce on the side. The pork chops were amazingly juicy. They came with an apple sauce for dipping but I didn't like the flavor combination. The coleslaw was decent. The black bottom cake was just ok. I'm glad it came with my meal because otherwise, I wouldn't have ordered that dessert. Overall, this meal was a 4.2/5 strictly for the mash and porkchop.- Wings were a to go order for someone else. They said the wings were good but wish they had a little more ranch dipping sauce. 4/5

Our dear friends invited to treat us to dinner at the Silver Spring Mining Company to try their Sour Beef and Dumplings. We met them at 4:00 PM for an early dinner, and because we wanted a quiet area to sit we ate in the bar. Surprisingly, it was very quiet. Amanda, our server, came right over and took our drink orders. She was upbeat, welcoming and friendly. Our friends said we should order the 1/2 portion of Sour Beef with the extra dumpling in place of the Cole slaw. So, that is what we all ordered. They were right - the Sour Beef and Dumplings were delicious. The sauce just had the right amount of tanginess, and the dumplings were dense and fluffy at the same time.Amanda's shift was over, and she kindly told us she would be leaving, and that Ryan would be taking over. Wow, what a difference in service! Amanda was at the top of her game, and Ryan could have cared less. When our host asked for the dessert menu, Ryan told him there was none and proceeded to tell him what the desserts were. Our friend said he saw a dessert menu on the main menu and asked him to go get the menu. Of course, the desserts are listed on the menu. Ryan said he knew that, but did not feel like walking back to get one for us to see. We were all flabbergasted - how lazy can one person be who just came on duty? We ordered the Oreo Brownie Sundae and the Rice Pudding. Both desserts were decadent. For as good as our beginning was, the ending was soured by Ryan.

We revisited this place after 7 years. I suppose it's just a very forgettable place that we drove by all the time, but hardly thought about going for dinner. We went in on a Friday night, Jan 5, 24, about 6:30 PM. Yep, it was dinner hours, lots of people, more so at the bar though. We ordered the crab pretzel to start of, also came with bread. The pretzel was very doughy; the crab itself feels like it came from a container, not fresh. After the appetizer, it took about 45 mins or so before our entrée arrived. G/F ordered a chicken sandwich. The top bun was sat on the side, where one can see the melted cheese. They probably should've closed the sandwich with a pick cause the cheese looks like one of those kraft single wrapped cheese. It looks like plastic. G/F cut the sandwich in half, and the chicken was over cooked. I ordered the stuffed mahi mahi. Fair amount of stale crab, way too much cheese on the top, and the mahi mahi tasted dry and it was definitely from frozen, and blend. The server, a young man, who was a bit socially awaked, made my GF felt very uncomfortable. I understand everybody needs a job and deserved a chance, and he reminded me of myself during my teens, 30 years ago. Again, there were a lot of folks, but mostly at the bar area, and I understand why. You have to be drunk to eat and enjoy the food there. Definitely will not return again.
