Shorty's Bootleg BBQ

Shortys catered a wedding I was at. It was simply fantastic. In a city known for its pit and BBQ beef, Shortys was the best I've had. So smoky and grilled, tender and pillars apart. He also made delicious sauces (spicy!). The pork was good but definitely not as good as the beef. The mac and cheese was SO GOOD. It was smoky and crispy on the edges. Overall this was super great and prompt. Shortys showed up and delivered!

(5/28/2016) Was at the benefit for The Book Thing, got a couple of ribs just to taste. We had already eaten, but sitting next to the smoker, it was inevitable that we were also going to have to get some Q. Ribs were pork and spare, no rub or evident seasoning, cooked over a mix of wood and charcoal. Slight smoke ring, not very deep. Meat was cooked through, there was some chew it (these are not the boiled kind of ribs, but low and slow). Sauce was commercial. We enjoyed these ribs well enough, not the best ever, but pretty decent.

Not only is the food legitimately as good as you can get, but the guy who runs it is a very high energy character who is involved in lots of charity and grassroots community events. Having awesome BBQ on hand definitely elevates your run of the mill gathering, and if you find shorty posted up at random (he shows up all over Baltimore county and city) change your plans and hook it up.
