There aren't a lot of banh mj places in the area, but this place is a must! Their prices are a little higher than what you would expect in Eden center, but their subs are overstuffed and worth the money. During lunch, you can get a deal with a drink and sandwich for $14. Their staff seem really friendly and open to five suggestions. Try this place out if you need your Vietnamese coffee fix too!

Not bad at all! A small storefront dedicated to slinging out a variety of banh mi! The inside is small with only a few counters to eat at, so it's clear their model is mostly takeout. My wife got a grilled chicken banh mi, I got the red pork belly banh mi, Child #1 got the vegetarian banh mi, and Child #2 got the original spring roll. We all split some veggie spring rolls as well.-Chicken is solid and a safe bet for a first timer daunted by the options.-The pork belly was good. I was expecting more chunks rather than deli-style slices, but still tasty.-The vegetarian was also surprising; instead of chunks or long pieces of tofu, the filling was shredded tofu mixed with rice noodles. It was nice and gave a bit of a shredded meat texture. -The rolls are good and the various dipping sauces are all winners. I'm not used to a roll having pork and shrimp in it, so I think I would go for a simpler one than the original next time, but that's just me.All sandwiches come with sliced pickled radishes and carrots along with some cilantro and sliced jalapeño.It's worth noting that you can get a single baguette for just $1, which picky Child #2 enjoyed. The quality is good enough that I think I would buy a few of these next time I want to make some Mexican tortas at home (which have similar French Imperialist roots as banh mi). They also have a big selection of Vietnamese teas and coffees, both hot and cold options. These aren't cheap ($6.50 of this writing) and probably where the store makes most of their money. We skipped them this time, but I think I'll try some next time.Because the model is mostly sandwiches or rolls, the food can be ready really fast and is generally cheap (where can you get something for less than $10 anymore? As of this writing, all banh mi are $9 or less and yet still filling). I called in an order and when I arrived 10 minutes later, they were ready for me.Would try again; come check them out sometime!

Finally. FINALLY! I have been waiting for decades-literally--for a Baltimore-area banh mi place. And, now there's one about a mile west of 695. Hooray. Is this the best banh mi I've ever had? No. I had a great one in HCMC, and closer to home, at the banh mi shop at Eden Center. However, Eden Center makes for a day trip from Baltimore, and that's a bit far to travel for a sandwich, even a great one. So even though SBBM doesn't have the best banh mi in the history of banh mis, it is very good. The house baked bread is light and a bit crumbly in just the right ways. Not a criticism, but the sandwich is the largest of its type I've ever had. A bit of a criticism is that the proportion of the fantastic veggies to the meat is a bit off. (I prefer more veggies.) However, I'll take it. And, I'll request more veggies the next time. Who doesn't love an easy fix? And, let's add that it's a clean and comfortable carry out. The owner, Andy, will even take one of the inside benches that turns into a table outside for you if you want to eat there. I'm delighted to do what I can to support Andy as he lives his dream of operating a banh mi shop since it melds so closely with my dream of having one nearby. As far as the critical reviews, I say just give this new place a bit of time. SBBM is now firmly on our rotation. Perhaps given a chance to work out some kinks, it will be on yours, too. Now, if I can only find someone who dreams of opening of Malaysian/Singaporean roti shop!

I've been waiting for this place to open for a bit now so I was eager to try. I came by about an hour before closing, so it wasn't busy. Service was friendly and I didn't have to wait long for the food. The store is not too spacious, but there's a few tables outside if you want to eat there. - combination baguette (dac biet): From the pictures I saw on google, it looked like the meat was loaded so I was excited for the portion size. While the loaf itself was large, I don't think the meat portion met my expectations. Their website says that they bake their bread fresh in-house, so I was excited for that as well, but it tasted a little stale to me. The bread could have been crispier and fluffier. But if you hate when banh mi cuts up your mouth, you would like this lol. The veggies are included separately so that your sandwich doesn't get soggy. They even include gloves so that you can add it to your sandwich which I think is a nice touch. I like a lot of pickled veggies in my banh mi though so I'd ask for extra next time. Maybe my critiques are a result of it being the end of the night during soft opening, so I'll have to give it another go at a different time. - goi cuon (original spring roll): my partner got these and it was 2 for about $6. They were pretty chonky and he really liked them. Since it was the end of the night, they were out of the peanut sauce, so they gave us their banh mi sauce instead. We also asked for it without the pork, but they still included it :/ - Vietnamese salted latte (cafe muoi): this was really good! Strong and sweet with a touch of salt. I think I had high hopes, but I love that there's a dedicated banh mi shop in the area now. I also hope that they add vegetarian banh mi options to the menu in the future. I saw that there's sugar cane juice on the menu on their website, so I'd be excited for that to come as well.

I really like this place so far! They have a good menu with a decent amount of options. I also like their unique drink menu. I got the pandan tea for something different & I enjoyed it. I got the veggie bạnh mi & it was packed w everything. They definitely got the ratios right. The bread is crisp as well. The only downside is there's not much seating inside the restaurant since it's more of a takeaway place & I wish they toasted the sandwich - it was a bit cold & I wish it was a little warmer. Otherwise I liked it! I also like how they include a sauce too. I know they're new so I hope they stay here for awhile so I don't have to make the drive to Eden

It was good, the banh mi could have some more filling. They give the salad that goes in the sandwich on the side. If you are in a Catonsville area, not a bad place for a quick bite. The banh mi baguette was good. Also got the coffee and that was great.

I have been waiting for this place to open! I love a spring roll and these were delicious. I got the shrimp spring roll without pork. The order came with two very large spring rolls and dipping peanut sauce. So fresh and hearty. I also got the veggie banh mi. It came with the veggies on the side to avoid it getting soggy. OMG as a pescatarian I miss out on sandwiches sometimes. But you could not tell the difference the freshness and that addictive banh mi sauce! I ate my food for two days it was so much. The cost was very reasonable too. The place is just for takeout and the service was quick and very pleasant. The place looked so clean. Loved my experience and I'm sad I don't have it for lunch tomorrow. My new favorite sandwich spot!

This is mostly a take out place with some picnic tables outside if you have a couple of mins and want to eat. The banh mi is pretty solid-- the bread is yum. The grilled chicken and pork are on point. The one lacking is the veggies-- I just wish the veggies and pickles were more plentiful in the pre-packed baggies. You can ask for extra veggies at this time with no extra charge. They don't pre assemble the entire the sandwiches you do have to add the cilantro, jalapeño -and pickles. The meats are already put on the baguette.. I have now been here twice and both times we had pretty solid lunches. They do not have a public use bathroom so you will need to either find somewhere else or ask very nicely and see if they will let you use the staff restroom.

The service was a little slow, but my hope is that is due to being a new store and they are still working on the process. The sandwiches themselves were pretty good I thought. The bread is baked there and has a lighter/crispy crust which I really like. Some places bake bread with a very hard crust with ridges and all that, and it can cut the roof of your mouth if you are not careful or don't crush those parts first. I'm not a fan of that kind of outside, so I like the bread here. They put a good amount of filling inside the sandwich and there is a good selection as well. They sold out of shredded pork and grilled beef options when we got there, which was unfortunate. I would like to try those next time.
