Ruby Thai Kitchen at the Mall of Columbia food court has good food for the money. This visit I had the grilled chicken soup. It was tasty it just needed a little bit of hot sauce and it was delicious.

I ordered the wonton noodle soup and was asked if I'd wait seven minutes; sure. It's cooked to order. The is hot with a good amount and variety of properly cooked vegetables though it's very salty and the noodles are from flour.

This place is located in the food court on the lower level of Columbia Mall. We always order combo #2 for $7.79, which consists of a starch (rice or noodles), vegetables, and protein. The size is a large portion. We especially enjoy the Mango Chicken as the protein and stir fried eggplant and tofu. Employees there are friendly. They offer a rewards stamp card - after you purchase 5 meals, the 6th meal is free for combo #1 (protein or vegetables with a starch). Good deal if you have no time for a sit down.7/19/20 Update - This place was temporarily closed due to COVID-19 pandemic, but has reopened now, still serving great Thai food. Combo #2 price increased to $7.99. Rewards stamp card is still offered. You can eat at food court or carryout.

The one positive thing one could say about this counter in the food court is that the meal size is large enough. Otherwise, not so good. I got curry flavored angel hair pasta which was unremarkable, chicken which turned out to be so heavily coated that the coating stuck to my teeth like a bad candy and the chicken could not be found, and some equally heavy coated shrimp which was tasteless. I usually will take any leftovers home and eat later, alas, as a first they ended up in the garbage. Really disappointed.

I've certainly had worse food court orange chicken in my life (see Panda Express) ... and better. There were sizable and plentiful pieces with good flavor. I'm not well versed in Thai food, but it seemed to me at least half of the menu items were more typical Chinese-American fare rather than authentic Thai. I had lo mein and a spring roll with the chicken, none of which was spicy. I'd even say the lo mein was a bit on the bland side. Is it me, or are all the Asian places becoming more and more homogenized?Several other items did appear more authentic, so take my review with a grain of salt. It may not be entirely fair of me to review a Thai place without trying the Thai food. My order might be akin to items from a kiddie menu. Certainly filling overall - C+My only real complaint was with the server. He either could not speak English or was afraid to speak it loud enough to be audible. I asked three times if the orange chicken was spicy, but could not understand a single syllable of his responses. I decided to take my chances since I didn't see any chili peppers and said - okay. We started the same process for the noodles. After the second utterance from under his mask, I said "okay whatever." He attempted to give me the total and I again started to ask for a repeat but said - "fine - just ring it up." I don't have a problem with food service employees who can barely speak English, but come on - "yes" or "no" answers for surely very common questions about the entrées? One can even be mute and just nod their head.New rule- if you work at Thai place, you have to know at least five phrases- "Hello," "thank you," "goodbye," "that's spicy," and "bathroom's around back" (where applicable).

I really like this place and used to come often. They serve mostly chicken dishes as the entrees but they're all super fresh and tasty.Today I got a 3 entree which is about $10, but I agree with others that a 2 entree is super filling. I ended up with the pad Thai and three chickens. The bang bang chicken, chili pepper chicken and Bangkok chicken. The spiciest was definitely the chili pepper chicken and it was so good I wish I had gotten three portions of it. I don't remember it before but it had the best flavor. The other chicken was fine too.You can still eat at the food court if desired, but most everyone was taking it and leaving.

I prefer coming here because the chicken is always hot, succulent and fresh, they are the only stand who serves the curry angel hair and they serve Thai tea. Basically, as far as hot Asian food stands in the food court, this is the only one that I go to.

*Warning: This review includes puns* If you're debating Chinese or Ruby Thai, pick Chinese. My experience was like the Thai-tanic! I expected a good time and ended up drinking more water than I expected. The portions are what you'd expect, but the food is not as flavorful and a bit too salty. I ain't got the thai for that!

The best part of the review is the food (if you call it food) is edible. We ordered the combo 2. The board makes a person think it is meat, crab and vegetable. No, it is choice of meat, carb, vegetables or any mixture. So I had a carb and chicken. I could have argued with the guy but a bad review will make my point better. Next came the quantity of food. The carbs are a large portion only to make up for the lack of chicken. With a quick moving spoon (so you won't notice) they pick up a few large chunks and the rest is very small pieces. I actually don't think there is chicken in these prices just fried batter. Avoid this place

I do not live close but drive occasionally to this location. Yesterday they didn't have enough for my order so I sat and waited. Did not check my order until I got home. They gave me to wrong meat in both orders. I had to throw them out. I said something to them and they did absolutely nothing to make it right. Not even an apology
