For years I've heard about Royal Taj and finally got there after husband insisted we go. Now I get it - 110% worth it. The building, while non-descript from the outside, the interior is completely decorate with extravagant items. Super welcoming. We were sat in a side room next to the window, was happy it wasn't cold there. Service was top notch. Only once did my water cup make it to empty and when the server noticed, apologized profusely. Otherwise, I was topped up when half full (and I drink a lot of water). We definitely slow-rolled the meal and the server was super willing to let us do that. We started with Chaat Papri - wasn't sure what to think based on the description, but was delish. Had the meat samosas (2 come in an order) next with 3 different chutneys - all made perfectly. For mains - I had the Chicken Mango Curry (mild) and husband got the lamb vindaloo (medium). Was all delicious. We got some of the mains to go and passed on dinner. Excited to go back in the future.

A Dining Experience to RememberBetter Late Than Never: On Monday, January 13th, my lady and I finally made our way to one of the most fabulous Indian restaurants in the DMV and let me tell you! It was so worth it! While we're no strangers to fine dining, this place took everything to a new level. From the moment we walked in, the service, ambiance, and food were absolutely impeccable. The management and staff welcomed us with such warmth and hospitality that we felt right at home. Every detail, from the décor to the music, set the perfect mood for an unforgettable evening. But let's talk about the real star of the show the food. Each dish was a masterpiece of flavor and presentation, but those vegetable samosas were pure magic. Honestly, if our schedules weren't so busy, we would've gone back the very next day just to experience them all over again! This restaurant doesn't just serve food; it delivers a complete experience that leaves you craving more. A true gem in the DMV, and one we'll definitely be revisiting hopefully sooner rather than later! If you haven't been yet, you're seriously missing out.

Royal Taj in Columbia, MD, is a gem that perfectly blends exceptional food with a stunning ambiance. In the many times I've been there, here are my thoughts on several of their dishes and the restaurant overall.Firstly, the interior is simply gorgeous, featuring contemporary Indian décor that exudes elegance and warmth, setting the tone for a memorable dining experience. This service is from another planet - you're catered to hand and foot the moment you walk in.Their appetizers are always a delight. The samosas, onion bhaji, and alu tikki were freshly made, with just the right amount of spice to tantalize our taste buds. My son especially loves the garlic, butter naan, and bhatura -- soft, flavorful, and so good they could easily be enjoyed on their own. The Ghobi Manchurian is out of this world good - fried, tangy, and savory, but with a hint of sweetness. As for their entrees that I've tried. The tandoori chicken had great flavor, but I would have preferred it a bit more moist. On the other hand, the goat curry and butter chicken are absolutely fantastic -- rich, flavorful, and satisfying in every bite. The mutter paneer and alu gobi are great vegetarian options - just ask them to spice it up a bit. However, the biryani was a standout, beautifully spiced and aromatic. To top it all off, the mango and salt lassis are the perfect refreshing accompaniments to the meal. Their gulab jamun is fantastic - I suggest ordering a little ice cream that pairs with it nicely.Overall, Royal Taj has firmly established itself as my favorite Indian restaurant through the years. The impeccable décor, warm service, and consistently delicious food make it a must-visit for anyone craving an authentic and high-quality Indian dining experience. Highly recommended!

I've always been a huge fan of Indian food, and traveling to India last year made me fall in love with the food even more. Royal Taj is such an elegant restaurant with a beautiful restaurant and amazing food. We ordered various items from the menu. The mango lassi was great, and I absolutely loved the shahi paneer, tandoori salmon, and the laccha paratha. The service was also great. We met with the owner who offered to bring us complimentary champagne while we were taking pictures outside. They also brought us complimentary dessert after finishing our dinner. I will most definitely be back!

I cannot believe I haven't tried Royal Taj until last night! My co-workers in Virginia recommended this restaurant which was such an amazing experience.I placed a take out order for lamb roganjosh, naan, chaat, chicken biryani, lamb biryani and lamb korma. The lamb korma was phenomenal. It's a mild coconut based curry and had so much flavor! When I went to go and pick up the takeout order, the gentleman opened the door for me, personally took my food to my car, gave me complimentary desserts and wished me a happy holiday. Absolutely wonderful service and I'm more than impressed. It's also beautiful decorated for Christmas so there are lights all over the restaurant. I would highly recommend if you want a nice night out to come here!

Pics would not have done this place justice. We came here for my birthday dinner and because I love indian food.Ambiance: This place is gorgeous inside. Loved it decorated for Xmas. Everything was golden, seriously. Lovely place settings and decor. I never made it to the bathroom but the kid said it was really cool. Service: They were on it all evening. We were there pretty early before the large company parties showed up. You could tell they were coming though by the big tables. Every server was great about quickly responding. Food came fast and hot. Food: OMG. Some of the absolute best Indian food I've ever had. The Kashmiri Naan. Out of this world. We tried the desserts too. Kofti. Man, I've been missing out. Cannot wait to go back. They even brought out champagne and cheesecake for my birthday.

Royal Taj is always our go to when we're near Baltimore or on our way to go up/down I-95. It's so close to the highway that you can' resist stopping in for their mouthwatering. Every item that we tried was amazing -- from the vindaloo to all oof the curries. I will say that the curries are a little more on the watery side. Something to note for folks who are less familiar. The vindaloos are all spot and beware of "Indian spicy" as it may ruin your palate for the next few dishes.

This place is a hidden gem. We had an end of year leadership team meeting there, we were in a private room. They treated us like royalty. Everyone loved their food, including appetizers and entrées, their drinks, including mocktails, and coffee and the cheesecake dessert was superb. The staff was very attentive. If you like Indian food and enjoy being treated like royalty, you have to try this place!
