Restaurant La Jarochita

Was in the area for some work, and I've been craving tamales all week. When I saw the sign outside on my way out, I immediately stopped and went in. When I came in around noon it was empty, (small dining room) and was able to talk to the woman behind the counter for a bit while I had lunch. I'm really glad to have had such company, she was so sweet! The tamales were wrapped in banana leaves and 100% the real deal. Chicken Tacos were also great, and ya can't beat the price at $2.50 a pop for each (tacos AND tamales, Whaaaaat) Was also pleasantly surprised by the sauces they had too, and she gave me a mango candy with gum I've never had before, but was a perfect pallet cleanser.I'm so glad I stopped in, this place is a real local gem that made my day (and lunch!)

I absolutely loved this place. I had the pazole and tamales wrapped in banana leaves. The waitress was very friendly and her husband was the cook. Originally from Mexico, they are pumping out food from recipes handed down for generations through their family. I wish I lived closer, id eat here all the time. Do your foodie self a favor and try it out.

LOVE IT!! I'm a fiend for mole and the folks here have a great mole! Mother and daughter team are so charming, and the ambiance inside is lovely. I've had a number of things here and each time I'm thoroughly impressed and happy. Don't sleep on La Jarocchita!

Amazing restaurant and owners are great. It is all very authentic, family recipes. You definitely want to get there early, filled up quickly.

Food is always. Good. Sometimes service can be slow or you feel invisible. The seating area is small but comfortable if there are not too many people.

The most authentic Mexican food I've had in Maryland. Everything I've had from here is great. Great service, prices and the food is absolutely delicious. Do yourself a favor and try this place.

Always friendly with fast service! We are huge fans of the chicken tacos dorados and the veggie burrito. The food tastes fresh and authentic. Highly recommended!!

Cute little hole in the wall - always a good sign - with great food.The lady working the front took our order and then checked in on us periodically, clearly worried that the food would be too spicy for people as lily-white as my companion and me (Heat level: warm!)Will be back again.

If you enjoy authentic Mexican cuisine this is the place to stop at. The atmosphere is simple and reminds me of the simplicity of a Mexican cantina along Baja coast. Everything is made from scratch. The refried beans were very mild and not too heavy or salty like the so called Mexican chains around the country. The staff is lovely. The food is based on the recipes of the owner/chief. She's just the sweetest lady with a wonderful personality. Kind of like eating at your grandma's table.
