Real Deal Jamaican & American carry out

We recently tried the Real Deal Jamaican and American Carryout in Baltimore, and unfortunately, it did not live up to the hype. My husband got the curry chicken with rice & peas and cabbage, while I opted for the oxtails with the same sides. Neither of us cared for the cabbage--it was lacking in flavor. My oxtails were particularly disappointing; they were very bland, and the rice was overcooked and too soft.While the portion sizes were generous and the prices reasonable, those are the only positives I can mention. We've had much better Jamaican food elsewhere that also offers good value for money. We came here based on a recommendation from my husband's coworkers, but this place just didn't deliver. We know good Jamaican food, and this wasn't it. We won't be returning.

The management of this place has changed over a few times, the good taste went with it. Definitely not the same & no1 in there is friendly or seems to have much of a personality. No longer worth the money or wait

Been coming here since they were first located on Greenmount and 33rd. I've had pretty much all their food and was never disappointed. The portions are worth the money. Be prepared to fall asleep afterwards. Grab the large plate and you'll be full all day. The jerk chicken with rice and peas with some cabbage is my go to and add some extra gravy. The staff has changed but the service has always been cool.

I can't believe I haven't done a review on my favorite Jamaican spot. I've been coming here since they were on Greenmount Ave. I loved that it's family owned, I felt like family. They were all so pleasant. This is the first jerk chicken I've ever tasted and no other places compares. I remember seeing the owner at the time grilling the jerk chicken in the back of the building, it smelled so heavenly. The sauce is sweet with a little kick but not too spicy. I've since been to the new location on York Road and it's pretty much the same recipe. The veggies and rice and peas are chef's kiss. I no longer eat chicken but I will say this is the best jerk chicken I've ever tasted in Maryland and I've been to different Jamaican and West Indian spots and none of them compare. I've been coming here over a decade. When they closed for a while I remember being heartbroken lol but as soon as I found out they were back I driving across town. I don't live close to the Real Deal so that should tell you something. Anyway I will be back to get a a veggie platter with a side of jerk sauce. The curry chicken is pretty good but I feel they're the masters of Jerk chicken.

Food was tasty, definitely recommend large portions. Service was quick and efficient Clean and comfortable for waiting for carry out

I came across this place perusing the local door dash offering near me. I'm admittedly not well versed in Jamaican cuisine, but I was in the mood for something different and have had chicken in that lane so I went with the jerk chicken platter. I was torn between the rice w/peas and cabbage but ultimately went with the cabbage and for just a couple bucks more I added extra meat. When everything arrived I was legit blown away. The container was heavy! The portions are massive and the price is low low! I had enough for my daughter, my mom, and myself (note to self if I'm ordering just for me I definitely don't t need to add extra meat lol.) The chicken was tender and flavorful and the cabbage had a nice mix of veggies which was really awesome. The spice level wasn't as spicy as I was expecting but it was delicious nonetheless and I would order this over and over again. I'm looking forward to checking out some more of their menu soon!

Wow, best lunch I've had in a long time. The curry chicken & the jerk chicken we're phenomenal. Tender, tasty, delicious. The greens were also yummy! Thanks Dr Frazier!!

the rice was overcooked and too soft. -While the portion sizes were generous and the prices reasonable. I agree, because it's more like hog feed. The rice is soft because it's overnight food with water added to it. yeah the portion sizes are large like hog feeding, who wants that? Spicy, is another way they hide the flavor of bad cooking.There are a whole host of Jamaican restaurants around, this aint one of them

Food lack seasoning; brown stew, oxtails and curry chicken, mac and cheese(trash no cheese on noodles), Highly disappointed. Save yourself the trip.

Food was nasty , jerk chicken has no flavor minus tasting like the grill . Stew chicken didn't taste like stew. Curry chicken was okay . And they give you big hormonal looking chicken. I was so sad and disappointed
