We walked into this restaurant to divine smells and a friendly owner/manager. We were immediately brought small salads and a thin broth. I would have really liked an explanation as to what the soup was but the server walked away without speaking. We didn't know what to order as we have never eaten at a Yemeni restaurant so I ordered the combination platter as recommended by the owner/manager. Much to our chagrin the meal was woefully under seasoned. Thank goodness there was a salt shaker on the table. I had to use about half of it on the food just to make it edible. Also, we had to ask for water and silverware.

My friend and I ordered quarter chicken with rice and a side salad. We were pleasantly surprised when it also came with soup. The chicken was tasty and well cooked. A side salad came with some extras including a greenish salsa and a wedge of lime. We added the salsa to the salad and it was tasty. This place is underpriced for the value. However if you're looking for ambience this is not your place. If they touched up the place, use the fan to move air they could double the prices and it will be worth it.

I can't say enough good things about this place. Overall the food is excellent and staff are all friendly, flexible, generous and hard-working. We went as a 20-person group and ordered an entire lamb (must call in advance for this). $400 total and we had enough food for at LEAST 25 people. They started us off by bringing up salad: not the best arabic salad ive ever had, but a good first taste anyway. Next they brought up several platters of freshly made hummus and freshly baked flatbread: this was absolutely wonderful. Next they brought up a TON of rice and... an entire lamb cooked, cut and served in several platters. I ditched my fork and knife quickly and used my hands instead. They also brought a plate of grilled veggies that were good when dipped in the lamb drippings (as well as the several homemade hot sauces that accompanied the meal). At the very end of the meal they brought up a very sweet and delicious clove/cinnamon spice tea that really helped the digestion process begin. We did have some vegetarians with us who ordered a fennugreek stu which was fantastic as well as fresh falafel which was great (not the best ive had, but undeniably good: fresh, hot and crispy). Keep in mind that this is NOT a fancy restaurant. The prices are SUPER reasonable, and the florescent lights make the place feel a little sterile:: but its all totally worth it!! Support this establishment!! Its run by real Yemeni people who are absolutely fantastic. They let all 20 of us pay separately AND offered everybody (msome complimentary free dessert). Captured a few pics of HALF of the menu. Too busy eating food to get the other half.

This combo order is a complete worth of money; portion wise, flavor wise and as a combination platter. If you cannot choose what to order, please go ahead with this. The chicken galabah is an excellent item on their menu. It can go equally good with rice or bread. Must try and a great addition to the Baltimore food scene.

Listen I don't want to berate anyone in this post Covid time but I think based on our experience it is a little overrated. The pros: nice people, mom and pop kind of place. The babaganooj and falafel were great. The pita was hot and thin and charred as per fresh bread. The two dishes I think were horrible were the gala bags both chicken and beef. Too much oil, not enough flavor. I was expecting much more. The fatoosh salad was unlike any I have had before. No parsley as stated and iceberg lettuce not the usual romaine . Not what I would expect for a $7.00 salad. Will I try again. Yes. I will probably towards a grilled meat instead . Will let you know how it goes....

I love this place!! I almost never write reviews but my boyfriend and I love this place so much and never want it to close so here we are. I used to live in Oman and the hummus is by far the best I've ever had in Baltimore. And the homemade bread! And the enormous rice and meat platter that feeds us all week! We've also eaten in the restaurant and the staff is so friendly even bringing up complimentary soup, salads, and dessert. If you're looking for somewhere fancy this isn't it, but it is a serious gem. Please support this place so I can never be without this hummus!!

Girlfriend and I got takeout from this place. We got a large lamb haneeth and hummus. The hummus was nice, but our bread was burnt and not warm...The lamb was tasty and tender, but there just wasn't that much...especially compared to the amount of rice we got. I guess the amount of lamb wasn't really the issue...it was just that there wasn't any vegetables, sauce, etc. besides a bit of lettuce on the side. It was literally just some lamb placed on top of a mountain of rice. Maybe I'll return to try some other dish.

Basic, if weirdly laid out restaurant serving, unfortunately, subpar Yemini food. I hate writing this. I'm always excited and happy when new immigrants open small businesses and share their food and culture with others. However, I wish someone had given me a head's up about the food, and I would have saved my time and money and appetite for something else. Maybe you think the same? If so, here you go:Two of us ordered three things: fattoush salad, falafel, and lamb fahasa. When we received the salad, we contemplated leaving. It was a plate of especially anemic looking iceberg lettuce, with a few tomatoes and cucumbers, a few pita chips all covered in not especially good ranch dressing. (I imagined a big industrial sized bottle of the Kraft stuff in the kitchen.) I picked around and just ate the pita chips. The falafel consisted of a few horrible little disc-shaped patties from, I figured, the Middle Eastern version of Sysco. Not only were they hard, they were cooked in rancid oil, obviously at the wrong temperature so the rancid oil was, well, oily. The fahasa had the consistency of pulled pork (something I've never quite gotten; I always feel like, I can chew my own food, thank you). It was definitely the star of the dinner (admittedly a low bar), and the portion was small. It came with just ok bread (slightly undercooked) in a clay oven.If the bad food wasn't enough, the place just didn't have a welcoming atmosphere. It had wonderful travel agency type photos of Yemen during happier times on the walls, but there seemed to be no care about anything else. The food from Yemen is great. (There's even a great small restaurant dishing up the cuisine close by.) Unfortunately this place isn't.
