I continue to have great experiences at Pupuseria El Salvador! The pupusas are very filling and made fresh. The service is great and the prices are good. I like sitting inside because it transports me to such a great community feel.

Pupusas are my absolute favorite food, so I have a lot of opinions regarding them. This place e may just have the BEST pupusas I have ever eaten. They are generously filled, and fried up perfectly...one side is ultra crispy, leading me to think maybe they put some chese on the outside...not sure. The curtido is equally good. We also had some tamales and they were excellent as well, super smooth masa...very flavorful. Service here is friendly and everything is FRESH. Great prices. I would definitely go out of my way for this place.

This place has excellent pupusas-maybe the best I've had! I especially enjoy their chicken variety since it's not an option you see widely available. They also have a pretty expansive menu of other breakfast and lunch dishes and I loved my plantains! I thought the latter was a bit overpriced but that everything else was an appropriate value. Definitely check them out for pupusas.

I like trying foods from around the world, in my community .. Been to this place twice, with my husband, who is from South America. The 1st time, my eat -in entree was served on a Styrofoam plate while his was severed on standard china. I didn't freak . The food was ok. Looking to give the place a second try on New Years' Day , again , eating in, my food was served on a dirty plate , this time , by the same El Salvadorian waitress, his was again on clean china. As my picture shows. I am an African American , also a small business owner. Providing primo customer service is as important as your product. I am certain , this was done intentionally. because of my race. Putting this question to the owner, you opened you business in a predominately BLACK city, in the United States. Train you staff to act / serve accordingly. Jim Crow is illegal here.

There is reasonable variety. Everything we tried was flavorful and very reasonably priced. The pupusas are around $2/each with several options. The priciest thing on the menu was around $13 for costilla asada. Service was very good and the place was clean and comfortable.

After eating a less-than-satisfying dinner at Chicken Rico down the street (it just wasn't enough for a change, ack!), I was in search of just the perfect addition to my meal. I have really been craving tamales for quite a while, so my husband and I decided to stop here and see if they had them. To my delight, they did - so I ordered a "number one combination", which consisted of 2 pupusas (your choice of filling) and one tamale. I figured that my husband and I could split the dish and end the evening on a cloud of delicious goodness. The three stars are for the pupusas queso, which were GREAT and if that's all we had ordered, the review would have been vaulted up to at least four stars, maybe even five. So what brought this down so low?The tamale, the main thing that I had come here for, was easily the WORST tamale I have ever had. And I mean ever. I unwrapped it and it was actually SLIMY - I took a small bite of the tortilla and nearly gagged. It was so bad that I had to grab a napkin and spit it all out - and if I do this, it's REALLY, really awful. I was so disappointed. My husband braved this monstrosity - and he actually did finish it. But he said that it was easily one of the worst tamales he'd ever eaten. Would we come back here? For the pupusas, absolutely - they were seriously delicious. Cheesy, creamy in the middle, just the right amount of salty - they were really, really good. But omg, the tamale, that was just made of nightmare. I will NEVER order that again. The combination was 7.22 with tax. Cash only, no plastic. We'll come back for the pupusas, but nothing else.

The pupusas are hot, fresh, and delicious! They have three flavors including cheese, cheese and bean, and cheese and pork. I tried the first two flavors and found them to be very tasty. The slaw which accompanies the pupusas is zesty and flavorful - perfect to go top the hot corncakes. Though I ordered takeout, I can't wait to return to this shop to dine in. Do be aware that seating is limited and parking can be difficult on Eastern Avenue. None these, run, don't walk, to this hidden gem in Highlandtown!

I always love hole in the wall ethnic joints. I have been hoping that a pupuseria would open in the highlandtown area for some time. This place did not disappoint. The food is tasty and reasonably priced. It is also clean and vibrant. Grab a great lunch here.

Always a fan favorite!!! One of my closest friends is originally from El Salvador and that's how I was introduced to pupusas. She lives in another state so until I I came across this place, I had been in a drought. The food is made to order, cooked fresh and is more than filling. This is as authentic as you can get! The staff speaks English and Spanish so there's no excuse to not visit! Now I'm hungry again.
