As soon as we arrived we were greeted by the owner and made us feel welcome. It's was a great place for a date night with my wife. The food...was SPECTACULAR! The fact that it's a set menu gives us enough time between dishes to enjoy the food and not be in a rush eating them. I wanted to order a second round of the menu, it was that good. Will definitely come back at least once a month!

Incredible gem of a place in Baltimore! We went here for a group dinner for a friend's birthday. We had a few dietary restrictions in the party and they were really wonderful to work with and incredibly accommodating. The restaurant itself is very minimalist buddies conducive to great conversation and they have a large downstairs that can accommodate groups.Do note that it is BYOB so be prepared to bring your own beer, wine, or liquor. They make an incredible Pisco Sour but can also prepare Tequila, Mezcal, or other spirits the same way. At $3 each, it's a deal! The food was truly incredible and decently affordable, considering the artistry and portions. 6 courses for $69 is such a steal! The stand out dishes were definitely the ceviche and tamale. I was so stuffed by the time the fifth course came around that I had one bite and gave the rest to the table. The dessert, which featured passionfruit ice cream, was also a favorite.The only thing that could've gone better was the timing of the service. The service itself was incredibly friendly and accommodating and welcoming. However, we were there for about three hours and it just took too long between courses to get the next dish. I know they have a small kitchen, but the pacing could've been a little better.Overall, highly recommended, but make sure you budget enough time as it will be an all evening affair.

I had dinner at Puerto 511 with my husband and some friends a few weeks ago, and I enjoyed the meal overall. What you should know: Puerto 511 is a Peruvian restaurant that only offers a tasting menu (5 courses for $55 Tuesday through Thursday and 6 courses for $69 Friday and Saturday). They are BYOB - we took a few bottles of wine and a bottle of Pisco (you bring the Pisco, they make you Pisco sours). What was great: The food. Everything we ate was delicious. From the menu they are currently serving, I probably enjoyed the skewers and the tamalito the most! The Pisco Sours - fantastic - we had at least two rounds. What wasn't as great (but it's still a very nice experience overall): The meal took a long time (I felt like we were there for ages), but the service was very friendly. The location is downtown, so it's convenient if you're seeing a show nearby. But it's perhaps not the best part of the city for a fancy restaurant? They seem to lock the doors and have you press a doorbell when you arrive for your reservation unless I'm really bad at opening doors. The space itself isn't the nicest space either - clean and comfortable, but more casual than most tasting menu restaurants (not necessarily a bad thing, but just a note for if you're wanting a fancy night out!). We parked in a garage that was a 5 or so minute walk away but you can also find street parking unless something is going on nearby!I really enjoy Peruvian food but I don't often get to enjoy it! So having Puerto 511 in Baltimore is a treat. The food is a treat, so if you're craving some Peruvian, check it out!

Tucked behind a door that requires a knock for entry, Puerto 511 is putting Peruvian cuisine on the map in Baltimore!Don't let the hard to find at first entrance throw you off--once inside, you will find yourself in an intimate but vibrant environment where you truly feel as though you've arrived at a close friends home for dinner. Once seated, we were greeted by Chef Victorio himself who not only went over the menu approach but also clarified any allergies, food preferences, etc. I had called a few days in advance to request a vegetarian tasting menu, which the team was happy to accommodate.For a small corkage fee, the restaurant allows BYOB--the Malbec we brought paired beautifully with the meal. I'm not sure where to start with the menu--it was exceptional from top to bottom. The plating is a work of art with rich, eclectic colors and components placed in a manner that exudes the utmost sense of care and pride. The flavors and textures take your palate on an exciting adventure, spanning across the spectrum and making for tasting menu that dishes out surprise after surprise. The dessert was the perfect end to a memorable, and importantly, relaxing, roughly 2 hour dining experience. 4.5 Because it did take 2.5 hours to go through all the courses and I was super hungry. Word to the wise, don't show up here starving.That said, everything else about Puerto 511 was impeccable. The venue is super cute, yet small, with about a total of maybe 12 2-seater tables. My friend and I were seated in a small corner out of the way. There was only the 5 course meal as a food option and we didn't bring any drinks with us. We drank copious amounts of water and the carafe was always refilled promptly.The plates, as they trickled out, were some of the most well seasoned and flavorful mix of foods and spices. The plates are small and in some cases I felt I'd have given a toe to get an extra helping (licking the plate was definitely a risk I was considering). Check out their menu online to see each course specifically, there's too much for me to try to detail it. The 5 course option is available Tu/Wed/Thurs for $55 and F/Sa there's a 6 course meal for $69 (I already have a Saturday reservation in a few weeks).Payment was easy, service was good and I'll definitely be back even if it takes longer for the food to arrive at the table. Worth it.

I went to Puerto sometime back, and I must say it was one of the most enjoyable meals I have had in a long time. I know the restaurant has been around for years, but for some reason or the other haven't been. I knew u could bring a pisco bottle and they will make pisco sours for u, I did that, damn near drank the whole bottle. The sours were a little sweet, but towards the end I told them to make it less sweet. The 5 course menu or was it four was delectable.. for $55 will go again

If you're looking for a 5-star, low key dining experience that feels straight out of New York City but for a fraction of the cost, Puerto 511 is the place to go. I can't recommend it enough!This small, unassuming restaurant packs a punch with big, fresh flavors. It's located on a small side street near the Bromo Arts District. The outside is painted black and you have to ring a doorbell to gain entry. Very speakeasy esque. Once inside, you'll find yourself in a dining room that seats no more than 30 people at once. A small window looks into the bustling kitchen and the walls are lined with colorful artwork. The menu is straightforward: five courses for $55 per person during the week and $65 on the weekends. I love a prix fixe menu that takes all pressure of decision making off of my shoulders. It's BYOB too so we brought a couple bottles of wine to take advantage of the small corkage fee of around $2.50 a person, plus a bottle of pisco to enjoy their famous pisco sour service for just $3 a pop. The pisco sours were absolutely divine - probably the best I've ever had. My boyfriend doesn't even like them normally but ordered quite a few rounds - they were that good! Each course came out perfect, one after the next. The standouts were the tamalito, a play on a deconstructed tamale which was the perfect bite of flavorful corn, fresh radish, and spicy sauce, and then the ceviche which consisted of fresh fish, octopus, and shrimp in a citrusy tiger's milk sauce. My only note is that if you are someone with a dietary restriction, make sure to triple check with the chef about the menu. I made a note in my reservation that I am gluten free and while my dessert was served with no churro to accommodate this, the main entree consisted of steak marinated in soy sauce which is definitely not gluten free. If you have a serious food allergy, this may not be the best place for you given the set menu. That said, I would definitely return to keep supporting Puerto 511. It's a great spot to celebrate a special occasion or even if you just want to impress someone with a unique date night.

Tried this place out for date night after some friends recommended it. Let's be real, this area of Baltimore is not known for its safety, but the restaurant itself has a doorbell to ring to enter. This is a foodie spot for authentic food, so even though it's not in a "trendy area" it's still worth going! It's an intimate dining room and family owned and run. It is a fixed menu that changes seasonally for $59 per person. This includes a couple starters, an entree and dessert! There was 1 server for the entire place but only about 12 tables. She was kind and as attentive as possible considering how busy she was. The restaurant is BYOB which is nice and if you bring your own liquor they will make you a pisco sour which was delicious! The food speaks for itself and is very good. Not the most insane meal I've ever had but every course was consistently good. Overall great date night experience, fun menu with tapas vibes, and definitely worth a try!

I came here for the first time for my birthday and thoroughly enjoyed the tasting menu. I love the fact that the menu is preselected for you and you can just sit back, relax and enjoy. Every bite was DIVINE! It's a small, intimate setting with European style seating. It's BYOB and if you bring a bottle of pisco they will make you rounds of pisco sours that are delectable and strong. Great for a date night. I can't wait to come back!

I bought Jalea tonight and the amount of food was not enough for the cost of the dish $23 plus. There should be a regulation that not allowed this Restaurants to give less food than the one to advertise. which is call "false advertising".
