Proteus Brews

This coffee shop is located inside the Proteus bicycle shop in CP! The barista was super nice and helpful. I ordered a Proteus Chai and a latte. Both were really good! They make their chai in house and not a powder mix. There is seating in the shop but I took mine to go. Definitely a hidden gem and worth checking out!

What a unique coffee run stop! Very cool atmosphere to drink coffee and shop. The coffee was delicious on a Sunday morning!

Wow, I'm only the 4th reviewer overall and the first Marylander to review this coffee shop! This place is definitely a best kept secret in College Park. I only visited one time on a Wednesday morning in September 2023 on a day I had taken off work as I was meeting a friend for a day baseball game Washington Nationals against Chicago White Sox. Proteus Brews is in the Hollywood Shopping Center in the Hollywood neighborhood of College Park within the Proteus Bike store. In fact, the front sign says "PROTEUS BICYCLES & Brews" (is below the bike part). They are a women owned business, and the woman behind the counter was very friendly answering the couple of questions I had. She was quick in making my chai tea. It was excellent; amongst the best I've had in MD! They have a few seats; more ideal to take the drink to go since seating is limited. Also, the hours are pretty limited Tues-Fri 8-3. Sat-Sun 9-4. I would definitely revisit this friendly & great tasting coffee shop.

this is by far one of college park's best kept secrets! Proteus Brews is a coffee bar located exclusively in side of the Proteus Bikes college park location bike shop. What sets Proteus apart and what makes me stop every time im even remotely nearby is that every drink is truly made with the utmost care and attention to detail, this space is truly dedicated to quality!!! I have tried every single drink and every drink is a hit!! upon talking to the staff I have learned so much not only about the beverages im drinking but where they come from and I was happy to learn that the coffee used is locally sourced, one of them being from a woman owned business in baltimore and a local bakery in Maryland and ice cream , natural made local ice cream from a veteran owned business! they really bring a great and unique variety of players into the game! and again the products are amazing!!

Definitely one of the top coffee shops in the DC area. Nothing an afterthought. I had ignored it because it's located in a bike shop, and I didn't realize there is a serious coffee shop inside! High quality stuff - no detail too small. The pastries are excellent and fresh. Do not hesitate to check it out. Oh and the staff is excellent too. Great people.Somewhat limited hours so check the coffee shop hours before you go.

Great coffee and pastries. It's usually not too busy so it's easy to get a spot to read or work on your laptop. Staff is friendly.
