Pizza Oven

We were so sad when we heard Pizza Oven was closing, but thrilled when we learned a new family took ownership! I'm thrilled to report that the pizza is still amazing. We ordered a large pepperoni pizza, a small meatball pizza, and a salad. The pizzas were so good but the salad was kind of odd. It was broccoli, carrots, peppers, onions, and a little bit of lettuce. I think they had run out of ingredients (we were asked if a "garden" salad was ok, and sure why not? But it was more of a mixture of veggies, sorry I didn't snap a pic).Stick with the pizza and you're golden! We cannot wait to return.

After seeing the high rating i decided to give thus place a try. Cash only so i had to scramble around the area for cash first. Lets just say it was NOT worth the hassle. On a positive note, the toppings are generous and fresh.. but the pizza itself is low quality.. thin crust which i usually love tasted like nothing and pulled like freezer pizza. Cheese tasteless, sauce.. was there even sauce on it? I dont think ill be finishing this. Thank goodness i got the special at $9. Iced tea lemonade mix is tasty tho

This is a hidden gem for fresh made pizza. Very nice and excellent customer service. The doors will close Dec 31st. If you want to try out a pizza, hurry up and go! It's worth it!

Babe is from Riverdale and he raves about Pizza Oven all the time. We finally went, and here's what we got...Wings: Pretty good. Not as crispy as I'd prefer, but that's what air fryers are for. Pizza: Our usual toppings = pepperoni + sausage + green peppers. So good. We got a medium to share, and there was plenty leftover.The 80s nostalgia hits you AS SOON as you pull up. From the old times lettering on the storefront, to the mechanical horse on the sidewalk. Once you're inside, you'll start seeing things that you remember/have heard about from wayyy back when. There's posters, newspaper clippings, games, hats, helmets, stuffed animals, DC sports memorabilia, and whatever else hanging all around. I've been going here for 50 years. It's a great neighborhood sub and pizza shop. Just beware it's not for everyone and isn't posh. It's a step back into1970. The food is good and old time style hearty. I love the oven burger. Bring cash or be prepared for a lecture or washing dishes.

People said "Go here if you like Ledos, it'll blow you away!" So I went in with pretty high expectations. They have an epic deal where you get two medium cheese pizzas for $13.99, and I was like YES. The best way for me to assess a pizza is to start with the most basic one. So I called ahead, and went to pick them up. It's only 10 minutes to my house which is nice! When I pulled up, I went inside and I thought the decor was kind of cool! The ceiling is all hats! I also noticed a section for dining in that seemed nice. My order was ready right when I arrived, so I grabbed the pizzas and headed back out! If you need to get on the BW Parkway going North from there, it's a bit of a funky turn, so be careful -- lots of cars to worry about.When I arrived, I was so excited to try the pizza -- but in my opinion the cheese looked slightly burnt. I grabbed a few slices, and I was shocked with how... boring it tasted. I just wasn't getting flavors from anything -- the crust, the sauce... I had to use my own spices to pep it up a little and still it took a lot! Needless to say, I was pretty disappointed. Given the hype, I was definitely expecting more. Otherwise, they do have other food, I hope it doesn't follow suit! Maybe I'll try it one day. Also, note, they're cash only.

I can't believe I have never done a review of Pizza Oven. They were a staple when I was growing up. Unfortunately, the one near my house closed down so the only one that's left is the one in Riverdale. The owner is the original owner as far as I know as well. Super nice guy. I ordered a plain pizza with extra cheese when I went there even though as a kid all we ever got was pepperoni and green peppers. But man, it took me back. Some of my favorite pizza of all time. The nostalgia factor is worth the trip.

Just got a small pizza there. No taste. Cardboard machine made crust. Better off getting it from the grocery store. I expect hand tossed New York style pizza when I travel north.

Great pizza, but it should be paired with salty toppings. Pepperoni, Sausage, Bacon, etc. The wings are also pretty good. The Mumbo sauce is tasty.

Small three topping pizza special with mushrooms, eggplant and sausage. With a drink under $9.00. One topping version at $5.99. Bigger than most small - enough for two. Fresh toppings. Decor looks like it hasn't changed in 50 years. A pizza dive bar. Pizza was great. Support the new owners.
