Do not miss out on this Baltimore Gem! We have been passing by Pierpoint for (I'm sorry to say) years on our walks. We first noticed it around Covid and thought it was closed. It's not! The place is quirky and fun with a bar at the front and dining room in the back. The owner Nancy was great! She is a culinary expert and just overall fun story teller. Now the food! My goodness the poutine was delicious. Seasoned perfectly and with the best combo of crab, sauce, and crispy beach style fries! Yum! We got the vegetarian Pho to even out the meal with Nancy's recommendation. She was not wrong. The Pho was one of the best I've ever had! The drink that Nancy made with watermelon and tequila was perfection at the end of the meal. I will come back for the events she offers, the fun, fantastic food, and wonderful conversations! Top notch place and we feel sad we just made our way here. But now we know we will be back many many many times.

. Chef Nancy Longo smokes her Maryland crab meat. Note I said local Maryland blue crab. She also has a favorite fried chicken recipe and does marvelous boxes of food to go for locals. I highly recommend

We made reservations for Pierpoint Restaurant. I dropped off my wife out front while waiting for a space and parked the car. I was expecting to see a mad house on Saturday night, there was no one there?I walk inside to a small dark space. There is a bar up front where I see Chef Nancy chillin' and my wife in the small dining room waiting for me.It's crab season in Baltimore. The town has all their crab specials proudly on display. I'm really not in the mood to start smashing crabs. I read about Pierpoint Restaurant and their famous crab cakes. The restaurant is close to my hotel so I book my reservation months ago and planned to get busy with some crabs! My waitress comes over and I ask her about the beer list. She rattles off a few IPAs and domestics, I want a local Baltimore beer! Now, I know Baltimore and I know when someone is getting annoyed. Guess what? There's no other customers in the restaurant! If I want to ask about the beers, I wasn't in the mood for a dark beer and I hate IPAs, tell me what you recommend! No such luck so I got a glass of wine.My wife wanted to try the Duck Eggrolls. She ordered a seafood salad but I'm being told it wasn't made with mayo, she hates mayo. I ordered the $29 crab cakes. One regular and one smoked. Everything comes out, my wife is loving her meal. The duck egg rolls? Funky and cooked amazing. Her fish salad had fried oysters, grilled shrimps and salmon. Wife is in the zone, cool.My crab cakes? Holy moley... The smoked crab had me swooning! The crab cakes were amazing. No fillers, just fresh local crab meat. I highly recommend this dish.So far so good right? Why the three Yelp stars? Here's the thing, if I was outside at a picnic eating crab cakes, I would expect bugs. I was waving small fruit flies away from my dish. One landed on my plate and drowned in the sauce. Kinda annoying. Then my fries that came with the meal were off. My waitress comes over and I tell her the fries suck. She says sorry about that, they were made fresh. A little standoffish but not to push my buttons. Then Chef Nancy comes over and says I'll make you more hon, not a problem. How could you not love her? Any grown man should not be eating fries, Its not why I'm here. What happened was, the oil wasn't too hot and the potatoes absorbed all of the oil. I don't care about the fries and she knocked off a buck. The Brussel Sprouts that came with the plate were prepared cole slaw style, they tasted pretty awesome. All in all, I wasn't in the mood to smash crabs and have Old Bay under my nails. The crab cakes were divine and I highly recommend trying them. PS - I was able to snag a sweet parking spot directly across the street. Finding a spot in the area is tough

I had the sincere pleasure of dining at this cozy little restaurant on Sunday, the weekend before the July 4th holiday. My friend and I were dining in from out of town, and we'd just left a line dancing event, and we wanted authentic Maryland seafood, crab cakes to be exact and we found this spot. I will warn you that parking can be difficult in this area, especially during the height of the weekend at peak dining hours. However, we arrived shortly after 7 pm, found a decent space within walking distance of the restaurant, and we were so happy to have chosen this place to come dine. It reminded me of some of my favorite downtown restaurants in Boston. I love that it's literally a little nook in the cut! If the outer facade wasn't painted, "yellow" you would miss it. First and foremost, when we walked in it felt like we were walking into a family member's home. It's casual in appearance. The Chef/Owner, Nancy was super nice, and invited us in. She was entertaining a few friends that had just completed dinner and dessert, and they were just chatting as we arrived. She seated us, and gave us menus. Everyone was so nice! We ended up chatting with the other group and that was really nice. We even found out that the owner is friends with someone we line dance with. We ended up ordering the crab cakes and I added steak. The food was delicious. The steak was decent, but the crab cakes made up for the steak. The crab cakes was lumpy and perfect! I loved them! The owner also made us a couple of margaritas that we ordered, and it was so refreshing and good! I can tell this is a neighborhood favorite because, she's been in that location for 30 years. It's definitely a place I will be returning to because, the food was good and the conversation was even better! The owner shared with us, some of her really wonderful life stories. It was so awesome to meet her and talk with her because, she's very active in the community and with mentoring Baltimore's inner city youth through her cooking classes, and she's very passionate about building, improving and sustaining the cultural integrity and history of the City of Baltimore. I just love this is definitely the kind of place "where everybody knows your name...CHEERS!" Check them out the next time you're in downtown Baltimore! I promise you will not be sorry! As one of the previous reviews mentioned, if you're looking for a spot with a "sleek" appearance and contemporary dining experience, then this is not the place. It feels like home, its a little dated (But who cares, I liked how it looked. She's been there 30 years and that means more to me.), but the crab cakes and conversation alone is enough to make you come and just hang for a bit!

We were passing through Baltimore and looking for crab cakes. The first two place we called were full so we settled on this little hole-in-the-wall joint. And I'm glad we did. They have limited private parking at a nearby lot. ASK ABOUT IT. We didn't know and circled for 10 minutes trying to find a spot. The place has limited street frontage and you'll miss it, if you're not careful. Brooke was the waitress, bartender and other things, as the owner was out of town for the holiday weekend. I had a smoked crab cake and a regular one. This is one of their most popular dishes. The smoke on the cake was just right, not overpowering at all. This was paired with a Brussels sprouts salad and fresh home fries. My son had the scallops, which were perfectly cooked. Didn't try desert but the two the couple next to us had looked awesome and, by their reactions, tasted that way, too. If you're in the Baltimore area, definitely make a reservation at this place.

Really great service, really good food! Small space in a Fell's Point row house. The space was half full, and smokey from the kitchen in the very back. The decor is a bit funky, maybe in need of freshening up. The only server in the place was also the bartender/hostess/busboy - she was great and attentive. We got the Balto Box appetizer as we really wanted to try the smoked crab cake - delicious! I got the Shrimp and Grits and my dining partner got the Diver Scallops. Both were very flavorful and delicious!!! We were filled up by the time dessert rolled around and had to pass - but we'll be back!

Went to this place last night after seeing it on the Food Channel a few months ago. This place is known for their crab cakes and I understand why. They have an amazing take on crab cakes in that they smoke them. I had the platter which offered a choice of smoked or regular crab cakes. In short, they both were great. Lump crab pan fried--like my mother used to make--and she made awesome crab cakes!Sides were terrific as well. Brussels sprout cole slaw--really unique--and fresh cut fries--perfect. My son just moved in down the street so we will be back soon. Owner (Nancy) is super friendly as well as the chef and wait staff. If you crave great crab cakes--go here!

I actually don't know where to begin! The chef/owner berates and yells at her employees, we sent an item back WHICH WASNT GOOD (she is not a fish cooker in the least, yikes!) PLAIN AND SIMPLE AND OVERCOOKED she talked about us! Loud enough for us to hear even. Next, she proceeded to stomp around with her face beat red! I understand working with people can be particularly frustrating however, you then need to stay away when you have an episode, "so-to-speak"Crab cakes were great in flavor however way to runny and not cooked through but I was ok with that bc that smoked flavor was fabulous and innovative, quite frankly the only reason that Chef deserves any stars!. The meat another guest had was so overlooked I cannot fathom at one time this woman was a world renowned chef. I should have known when she kept walking to the bar to sit down and play on her computer that this was not going to end well. Although in my mind, I thought, this will all turn out great! Most of the food did, again, just that one dish was off however the DIRTY atmosphere, rodents, & behavior of the own ruined the entire experience. She also had the audacity to tell us how much the food cost her-look lady, you are not the only one who owns a restaurant and quite frankly it doesn't seem as though you incorporate any of your earning in the establishment otherwise, I WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN ABLE TO HEAR MICE SCAMPERING IN THE CEILING!I feel very sorry for this woman's, obviously she has lost he pizazz but more so I feel exceptionally sorry for her employees whom of which, again, she did nothing but berate and abuse. The poor waitress had to apologize for her behavior. Another member of my party wrote a review some time ago and I can't tell you how long it has bothered me that I did not speak out and speak up for the nice, brunette, talkative waitress we had. I sure hope she finds a better place!I hope this somehow reaches our server and she knows what an Immaculate job she did and that none of this review shall reflect upon her!

Nancy hosted an All-Around Asian cooking class for my daughter, daughter-in-law, niece, granddaughter and me. It was fabulous! I've been to several of Nancy's classes in the past as well as classes at other cooking schools, and Nancy's is by far the best! She is hands-on and makes sure everyone is involved in making every dish. We made 9 different dishes, sat down with a glass of wine to eat with her, and took home all of the leftovers (along with the recipes). If you really want to learn how to cook (not just socialize), this is the cooking school for you. We've already decided to bring our husbands to the next one! Thanks, Nancy and Chris!

Visited Baltimore after a 28 year hiatus from living here (Fells Point and Butcher's Hill). When Pier Point showed up as a Yelp restaurant option I stopped looking. It was hot back then, and it is hot now. A wonderful meal. Pier Point is a gem. My comment for the restaurant - weed out the cheesy flatware.
