Craving crab cakes, so bf googled and saw that this was Oprah's favorite spot, so we went to test it out. Menu is online so we called ahead of time to place our orders - we both got 1 crab cake which comes with two sides (mac n cheese, potato salad, french fries, etc). Unassuming place - I knew nothing about the establishment so was a bit surprised to see it mostly as a takeout place (restaurant across the street). Fairly popular as there were people ahead and after me in line. Was a bit disappointed at first that the amount of food seemed little! The sides at least could have been more generous (tip: they are more generous with the fries). However, paired with a salad I tossed at home and slowly savoring helped me realize that the amount of food is decent. For sides, potato salad and macaroni salad were also very good; the Mac n cheese not so much so. The crab cake was delicious though - every bite was full of flavor with lots of crab meat. Definitely satisfied my crab cake craving!

The 2 stars is for everything except the crabcake that was about 3. . . Came in last Saturday. It was my first time. I was craving crabcakes (I live near Koco's but was trying something new) and these are Oprah's favorite right? There were a bunch of kids working. The prices were reasonable. I ordered a crabcake platter (what I came for) with fries and broccoli, a single piece of fried flounder, a HALF pint of cream of crab, and the special (3.95) which was shrimp tacos. They don't give refunds which bothers me because how do you correct issues? The cashier only heard pint and not the half. I wasn't doing math in my head and I didn't receive an itemized receipt so I didn't realize until I looked at the chef's ticket on my bag. I saw what I thought was an extra soup. I mentioned it and they basically said they couldn't do anything because no refunds -_- So yea have the 16 yo taking your order read it back to you before paying to avoid this totally easily fixable situation. The crabcake was good. Not the best or worse I've ever had. The flounder was fine too, seasoned appropriately. The shrimp in the taco was small-medium and a little fishy, probably why it was the special in the first place. The sauce was actually decent but there was literally 3 pieces of cabbage in each one. The tortilla was regular soft taco size but there was so little ingredients it felt too big. Use more cabbage/slaw, larger shrimp, a smaller tortilla, or all three and the problem would be solved. The soup was literally old bay flavored cream. It was almost inedible because of how salty it was. I saw more crab atop the deviled eggs in the shop than I received in my entire $10+ pint of cream of crab soup. I will NEVER purchase that again. Might go back for a crabcake and fish but I wont be getting shrimp or soup ever again.

I tried Pappas 2 weeks ago and was disappointed. I ordered the crab cake meal that comes with 2 sides. As my sides I ordered a baked potato and side salad. The crab cake was a good size but lacked the signature Old Bay flavor I'm accustomed to. The baked potato was standard. The salad had a bug (maybe more) in it but couldn't stand the thought of finding anything else in it, so I threw it out (and I loathe wasting food). I called and left a voicemail about my experience but haven't heard anything back yet. I wish I had a similar experience to others who rave about this place. But due to the overall taste and unwanted toppings (no bugs, please) that led me to lose my appetite, this was an overpriced $30+ meal that has caused me to omit this restaurant from my list of rotating restaurants.

Decent place. Great big cakes with no filler. Crab soup equally good. Got a dozen large males steamed as well.

Love their crab cakes, especially the catering mix so you can create your own size for hors d'oeuvres!

The best crab cake i have ever had! I am not sure why anyone would give this place less than 5 stars? Strict dress code? Maybe that's why? The staff were all beyond nice and helpful! Absolutely recommend

Pappas has the best seafood, so enjoyed Imperial Crab cakes, calamari and stuffed mushrooms, I had to write a review immediately 5 stars

I was so disappointed with thier carry out crab cakes !It was fishy ! GrossI will never be back ! There are way too many options for great crabcakes in Baltimore ...it was a waste of money ! Yuk yuk yuk I will never be back

Have eaten there before, always satisfied with the crabcakes. This time it was a carryout, a raw (intentionally uncooked) crabcake and caprese salad. A gift birthday lunch for my aunt. So I can't comment on the quality but it was a bit of a stretch calling the caprese a "salad' , it consisted of 3 tomato slices and 3 mozarella slices. I would have complained but had waited 20 minutes for this carryout to be put together and didn't feel like spending more still more time and been late to my Aunt. Also, the carryout situation there is confusing. Their carryout shop moved a significant distance away. But they also still have a carryout window at the restaurant. So that was a confusing situation and cost me more time and driving figuring that out.

These folks have all kids and don't listen or don't know how to do the tasks ! We come on off 2 a month or so or more depending upon our conversation in carry out . They never listen to pack up cold separate orders from hot items . To this and we asked to drain water on Cole slaw or it's just horrible and we asked for the extra items we never get em unless we go back in two three times while these young dum kids expect huge tipis we give 'em always 12% this is more then we fell they should get . They forgot my sides we paid for Macaroni and it really wasn't fair to my agains I got to hunt valley with quest disappeared made my friend at 76 put something together to suffice wow what nitwits !
