This shop is incredible! Extremely fresh and creative takes on classic sandwiches and meals. I highly suggest the Pam's Ham - the best ham sandwich you will ever taste! They don't skimp on the meat and cheese, so you will end up with a full stomach and even some left overs to munch on through out the day.

The shrimp Cajun wrap is the best wrap I have ever had. Large shrimp cooked to perfection. Seasoning just enough with a little kick. Will be going back often.

Very strange phone conversation just now with Pamela.Pamela accused me of "being really rude to her husband" last time I was there. She said "no Easter menu this year" then promptly hung up on me.WHAT!? ! My family and I have enjoyed her quiches for years--who would be stupid enough to get on Pamela's bad side? Not me!I would give this business no stars if I could. Not worth the disrespect she just hoisted on me.Anyone else have issues with this business?

Today I had the best lunch ever at Pamela's Gourmet. She was serving sliced filet mignon with an avocado salad. It was very reasonably priced at $12.95.The salad came with greens, avocado, pomegranate seeds, onions and a delicious vinaigrette dressing. The filet mignon was cooked to my precise expectations, medium rare with a little char. I have had steaks at numerous restaurants including Firebirds, Harry's Savoy Grill, Sullivans and Walter's. I am not exaggerating when I say the steak served at Pamela's was better than any at those other restaurants. You might say at $12.95 it must have been a sliver of steak. No it was a nearly full serving. For a light dessert I had Pamela's banana bread with chocolate chips. It was warmed slightly in the microwave. $3.00 for a large slice. It was one of the most delicious desserts I have ever had. I always said her banana bread could compete for the best of all time but the addition of chocolate chips slightly warmed was indescribably delicious. I rave about Pamela's cooking. I am a highly discriminating diner. I am not sugar coating this review. Pamela's Gourmet is the best place to eat lunch in Newark.

My employer caters lunch twice a week from Pamela's Gourmet. If there were more than 5 stars I'd mark them all. I'm a vegetarian, and Pamela's gourmet create delicious meals, including artichoke, banana peppers, olives and so much more from the typical vegetarian options. Their homemade salad dressings are the best I've tasted....ever. I will definitely use Pamela's Gourmet for personal catering and continue to be grateful and spoiled by my employer bringing in deliciousness. Naomi G.

Love, love, love this place. Was away for several years and everything is still on point!! Fresh ingredients and amazing soups too. Had the prime sirloin gyro. Huge fresh tomatoes, sirloin grilled to perfection, tender caramelized onions and feta cheese.

Alright, so here's the deal, people: you need to go eat here. Pam uses the best ingredients because she actually cares about the quality of her food. Everything is made from scratch and her specials are stupid delicious. I mean, a mahi mahi filet with honey lime and then a sriracha mayo on a brioche bun?! Shut up. You just SHUT YOUR FACE. What? Yes, I'll take a 12 ounce black angus burger cooked to order, thank you! Meatloaf and gravy with mashed potatoes? Sold. They hand cut their bacon... WHO DOES THAT?!? Soups to go, meatballs made from a beef, pork and veal, homemade sauces... and then she's got desserts. Everything changes so often, don't short yourself by sticking to one thing. You get those lemon bars, berry cobblers with freshly whipped cream, BROWNIES. Call ahead to order a daily special, order a quiche for the weekend (She actually hand grates the cheese from a block. She doesn't use pre-grated garbage), cater a party!!It's like eating at your mom's if your mom could actually cook and her name was Pam. Yeah, I said it.

Pamela's lunch fare is about as good as it gets. Her sandwiches are always delicious and the portion sizes are more than ample. The menu is not overly fancy or complicated, just done really really well with really high quality fresh ingredients. Great roast beef sandwich (Betty's Beef), great Ham and Cheese (Pam's Ham), great Chicken Cutlet (forget the name but it's delicious) and wonderful sides. There is no midday restaurant that is better for the money. Every experience is truly satisfying and enjoyable. Call ahead to avoid any wait time. Ask about the specials and they cater.
