NY Chicken & Fish

I pass this place everyday to and fro work. I decided to take the chance and give it a try. I am not going to front. I thought the fish was damn good. Nice large size filets. Seasoned well, with a splash of lime/lemon. Came up hot and was reasonably priced. Had the 4pc. Whiting and the hood version of an Arnold Palmer. T'was good eatin'.

Not the best fried fish I've had, like the ones at a southern cookout or a church fried fish dinner but decent. I had my reservations coming here due to the Yelp reviews but the Google reviews speak differently. I ordered a #5 (catfish, side fries and fountain drink) for my bf and I got 3 whitings w/ a side of banana pudding. The whiting was fresh, seasoned well and came with two pieces of bread. The size of the fish were a healthy portion and the banana pudding was tasty. Again, not the way grandma makes it for Thanksgiving but good enough. I haven't tried anything else here. My bf did say his catfish was really good. On another note, I did notice that they have a drive-thru window but not a speaker or menu on the outside (looks like it was taken down) so I'm not sure if there is a drive-thru here anymore or if they are remodeling. None the less, there's ample parking, a seating area to dine in if you'd like, short wait time and great service.

The positive: The store is pretty well kept. They have a decent variety of entrees, and just as many sides to go along with whatever you choose. The people behind the counter are helpful, and I have never had an issue with the service here. The fish/seafood is decent as well.The negative: The food here doesn't always taste as fresh as it could, and the chicken tastes as if they cook it in the same grease as the seafood. So does anything else I have ever gotten from here that comes out of the fryer.

I won't ever get the chicken from here again. It was greasy and tasted like it had been sitting out. It shouldn't have tasted like that since I got there an hour or so after they opened. The trout however was fresh and very tasty. I'd come here again but only for the fish.

Just happened to be in the area as we changed our mind about cooking dinner so late in the day. We both wanted se fried fish and this place was on our route. We decided to stop by since the other reviews were decent. Long story short, we ordered their namesake, chicken and fish and the chicken was the only stand out. The fish was very bland and his fish was dry. The sauces are WATERED DOWN. They put the fries in a container and didn't have air holes so they ended up being soggy by the time we made it home. They were bland as well. The chicken was decent but I wouldn't go out of my way to get them again. The potato salad was super sweet and the macaroni and cheese was terrible. I do not recommend this place.

My fried whiting tasted previously frozen, but I ate it anyway since I left the restaurant. The cook sprinkled on some kind of salt, that I don't care for, after frying the fish. It made it salty but sweet. It's hard to explain. Fries were ok. Rice & beans not bad, but will not return for frozen fish. I'll stick with Potomac House.

This is a neighborhood joint that does a great job on some fried chicken wings. The flavor of the batter reminds me of a chicken joint from LA called Golden Bird chicken. It was really good. I wasn't impressed with the sides. The potato salad was just alright and the cole slaw is better at KFC. All and all a good experience.

I've only visited one time (I live nearby). The employee who waited on my (Latina female) was a bit pushy and seemed a bit impatient (I was one of two people in there that night). I ordered a couple pieces of fried chicken only. When I asked her what were the choices (of chicken), she seemed a bit confused as to what I was asking her. After that was straightened out, I ended up getting two pieces of chicken that tasted pretty good (but was overpriced). Based upon her attitude, I gave two stars. I am big on good customer service, which seems to be a lost art in today's world. Maybe she had been working all day long and was tired. Still, that's no excuse for shoddy CS.

I actually enjoyed eating here for a couple of weeks after recommended by colleague. This is more of a warning to future patrons. DO NOT USE THEIR ONLINE ORDERING SITE. It is not up to date and will incorrectly send your order to their kitchen. They will not give you a refund they will force you to take the food that was incorrectly sent through the site. After I was able to speak with the owner show him the website; he still refused refund me. I offered to come in the next day for the entree. I went the next day they forgot my double side ...CALL IN YOUR ORDER ALWAYS. THEY WILL NOT REFUND FOR ANY REASON.

Food is actually amazing. I always ask for the wings FRESH and they are more than willing to meet my needs . Definitely would recommend
