Nice N’ Spicy

I was in the area and just had to stop in AGAIN for there Stew Peas. About a month ago I came hungry not sure what I was in the mood to eat. There Stew Peas caught my eyes but the lady behind the counter almost didn't want to sell it to me cause there wasn't anymore meat in it. I told her I was fine with just the stew. It was so so good (flavorful) like my mom makes. I enjoyed every bite. I love that they cook it the traditional (in my opinion) Jamaican way with pork (pigtail) in it. Both of my visits it has "hit" the spot each time. I highly recommend them for this item. Already looking forward to next visit whenever I'm in that area again.

The food was tasty, but the portion was not adequate. I ordered oxtail, rice and peas, plantains and 3 coco bread. The coco bread was awful, it was dry and had no flavor. The oxtail was not the normal diameter; it was cut in half or one normal piece looks like it was cut to make three pieces. I will not be back. I spent over $40.00. The plantain was dreadful, it was over ripe and soaked in oil. I had to throw the plantains and coco bread away.

The food was old, chewy and dry. The worst Caribbean place I've ever patronized. I ordered jerk and stew chicken. No flavor. The only item I enjoyed was the beef pattie. I Am so pissed about wasting my money. Even the plaintains were chewy and tasteless.I'll never return

My actual rating is about a 3.5, but I'll round up because I *really* like their patties - both the beef and the chicken. They have great flavor, great spice level and at $3 a piece are a great value.If you follow my reviews you'll know that curried goat is my favorite dish of all time. Not gonna lie, I wasn't super keen on the curried goat here. It wasn't very spicy at all, and just didn't have the "flavor intensity" I am used to. It's not bad by any means - and if I didn't know just how amazing it CAN be, I'd have liked it just fine - but not loved it. The portion was very generous, the rice & peas and veggies it came with were good. But the patties are SOOO good, and since there are so many good places to get my curried goat, I'm going to be coming here primarily for the patties. Hubby had jerk chicken that he also thought was too dry on the first visit.The sides get a little dry sitting in the containers behind the counter; on my first visit I had some mac & cheese for a side - not a good pic, it gets very crunchy when sat too long. Today, I went in for a chicken patty and fried plantains - the chicken patty was awesome, loved it - the plantains were a little on the dry side. If you need food fast, it's ready made - but the dryness is a trade off.One thing to note if you're ordering just patties - there is a $10 minimum to use a credit card. Fortunately I had cash with me today, or I'd have been S.O.L. (or had to get something else to bump the price up over 10).

Yum yum yum. Every time I want oxtail, there is where I go. The red beans with rice goes perfect with all meats.

If you want some authentic tasting Jamaican food, come here!! The people are nice and they are generous with the portions!

The oxtail Portions are too small ... not for the price. A little stingy in my opinion

Ordered Curry Chicken, so bad. No seasoning or flavor. I thought I was tripping so I tried the curry soup alone. It tasted like water. I was already suspicious because the rice and peas look like white rice, no color. This was my first time eating there. I did not finish my food. Very disappointed. No wonder it was so empty. They have to do better!

1st impression is everything when it comes to a restaurant. My son wanted to treat me to a place that he found online, there is no way in hell he read the reviews and he knows that I don't play games when it comes to my Carribean food!!! I have now developed trust issues‍. I ordered my favorite, which is stew chicken. The chicken was hard, tasteless and had no gravy on it. The seasoning must've went on strike and to never return because the macaroni was tasteless as well. The cabbage was the best thing within the meal. With each bite, I became more and more disappointedThere is no way to convince me that this is authentic Caribbean food.

The decor is older. The food was bomb but a bit colder. I got curry goat, spinach, dumplings and plantains. Since the entrees include 2 sides I did half spinach, half plantains. Food like so said was tasty just cold. I could tell it was the end of the night and they are closing soon. However, the cashier and cooks were so nice and had cool chill here and eat vibes. New healthy tasting, silver spring Carribean option. Def solid choice.
