Next Phaze Cafe

I went there on a Friday night to celebrate my birthday with friends and family. The place reminds me of like a cool jazz lounge you might find tucked away in New York City somewhere. Very nostalgic and I loved every minute of it. Our waitress was very accommodating and attentive. The man at the front door who was either the owner or the manager was very nice. Our food was beyond amazing. Everyone enjoyed what they ordered, and the drinks were very, very, very strong! and if you don't drink, alcohol, the mocktails were yummy. The band performing that night was Cafe Red and they were perfection, they even gave me a birthday shout out. I will definitely be going back and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for some good soul food and some nice live jazz or R&B. definitely get the sweet potato pie and my recommendation is to ask them to heat it up (it is served cold out of the refrigerator), thank me later.

I think I have to try this place at a later hour. When I arrived it was pretty empty but it was early afternoon on a Monday so I'll give them some grace. I see a lot of potential. Now for the food, I ordered a Catfish Platter with string beans and Mac & Cheese. The catfish was fried nicely, no complaints. The Mac & cheese was flavorful but it wasn't my favorite and the string beans were good but they didn't taste super fresh. Overall the plate itself was 6.5/10. I want to attribute this to the time of day because it seems that most people go during later hours so I will definitely try it again and they have events to offer. I'll be back.

OMG I had to show the before and after because I think that should say all it needs to be said but I'll indulge. This is a cute spot that I've only had drinks at because it's not far from my destination. Tonight I decided to try some food and was able to use a discount for my first order! The menu isn't large and frankly with meals like this it doesn't need to be. This food was definitely made with LOVE! The fish was seasoned amazingly legit just right. The Mac had its own flavor and style which was a change from usual Mac's I've had in this area but I welcomed it because being honest the best Mac I've had here was at Chick-fil-A. Yes, that's how bad the ones I've tried have been. All that to say YUMMM. And finally the greens! I am not a fan of their cut because I do love stems but smaller ones would make this better than the Mac. Otherwise this was cooked very well. I'm not sure if the sauce in the cup but I used it on my fish and it seemed like that was the right idea. Normally I'm not a bread with meals eater but I need another piece LOL. This cornbread almost gave dessert and I'm glad I didn't order any. Overall I am happy to make this a spot I frequent monthly to try something new each time.

So I had jury duty. Otherwise I dont think Id have ended up here because where am I parking. Reading the other reviews seems like I need to check out Karaoke though.The place is a little dark its kind of in a half basement situation. Ms Peaches was so nice helping me order my wings with mac and greens and she laughed at me ordering a glass of Champagne at 1pm. Food was good and well seasoned its just the bar is real limited, no gin and the champagne was Andre. seems like you will have better luck with service and food if you come on less busy nights I hope this place stays open if only to make sure the people conscripted into Jury Duty have a good place to eat

The honey old bay wings were tasty. Along with the macaroni. The collard greens were a tad bit salty.The customer service was great. Food was hot and fresh. The restaurant was small but inviting. Nice location. Quality food I would recommend

I had a nice time during my visit at this black owned business. My waiter was good. The owner was very nice and welcoming. You can tell that he really cares about his customers having a great experience. The food was delicious. I ordered the bayou pasta with chicken and salmon with a side of cornbread. The pasta was very saucy and cheesy just how I like it. The salmon was seasoned well. It was the perfect dish. The cornbread was good. I would order all items again. The bayou pasta is large enough to have leftovers tomorrow. My drink was very good too. I love that there was a live band. The owner stated he has a different band every Friday and he doesn't have a cover charge. The crowd is mature and classy. Street parking is available, but it is not free until after 6pm. Bathroom was decent.I was lucky to find free street parking 1 block away.

Early on a Saturday afternoon during Happy Hour I decided to stop and grab a bite. Young lady at the register was pleasant and patient, it's my first time here. I ordered a catfish dinner and some wings to go. Catfish was excellent I'm gonna have to get 2 pieces next time. Mac was a little sharp for me, but cheesy and tasty it was. Collards were fresh and delicious, not from a bag.

Extra item I paid for was missing from my order although my receipt shows I requested and paid for extra item. Food order via delivery service was ice cold, yet my food arrived timely. Threw my food away based off what came out of my fish. Totally disappointed in my meal I had to toss. Normally my food is always good. Maybe the kitchen was having a bad day. I would still give them another try down the line based on my previous experiences.

Delvin, the general manager was our server and he was amazing! The food was absolutely delicious! Everything was hot and the wait was minimal. Kudos to Next Phaze!

Maanah our bartender and waitress was super sweet and our drinks were on point!!Happy Hour, our drinks were half priced was a plus! The atmosphere was really nice as well. We ended up coming on night the were shooting a video and was still able to be seated and served in a timely manner. I ordered the Bayou Pasta with chicken add salmon and my husband had the Bayou Pasta with just chicken and no veggies. DELICIOUS!!!!!!!
