Nepenthe Brewing

We visited this brewery on a weekend afternoon. It was busy, but we were able to find spots at the bar. The bartenders here are really friendly! The vibe is also cool; there's a lot of awesome art and its vibrant space and atmosphere. We tried several different beers and all were good. Didn't partake in food this time, but saw some that looked pretty good. Overall, this is a fun brewery with good beers and I'll definitely return!

First impressions, this is totally my scene. Vibrant, lively, great music, awesome service and TVs for sports. And the food coming out of the kitchen smelled amazing.I walked in, sat at the bar and was greeted by both servers. I felt welcome from the start and that made for a truly great experience.I liked that although it was a brewery, besides the craft beer, they had wine, spirits and some really cool mixed drinks. There is a little bit of something for everyone here. Scan the QR code for the full menu, but your servers can guide you as well.The food on the menu looked amazing, but I was feeling adventurous so I ordered the wings. If you like your wings with veggies, they don't offer any, but they did give me a choice of ranch or blue cheese. The wings were perfect. 8 glorious, well prepared wings.The BEER:Space Jelly IPA 7% ABV... Oh My Goodness! Let's Go!!! Juicy, not too sweet, fruit on the front, grass on the finish, quite dank and deceptively smooth. Doesn't taste like 7%. Muggle Juice spiced winter ale 7.5% ABV... ummm, yummm, pumpkin spice and delicious, better than a latte. Slightly boozy on the finish and really wonderful. Terminal Exodus Czech dark lager 4.8% ABV... so smooth, totally crushable and they serve it with a lot of head so you can get all that creamy Czech goodnessSpontaneous Deviations #5 circa 2023 Barleywine 9.3% ABV... this is unbelievably smooth for a high ABV barleywine. I would call this Barleywine lite. It is really smooth, has a lighter mouth feel than most of the barley wines I have had. This is a keeper, as in keep it in your beer fridge and not just for special occasions.Polluted Sacruary west coast IPA 6% ABV... this west coast won me over, because I am not a West coast fan. Low in IBUs smooth, fruit forward with a piney and floral finish. This is awesomeness.Grim Tidings west coast DIPA 8.3%... a little boozy on the finish with some grapefruit notes.Werewolf death grip American Kolsch 5.5% ABV... not your typical kolsch, has way more body and I get botanical ls and a hint of cucumber. Mouth feel is heavier than a typical Kolsch. This is a gold medal beer.Cerebra session IPA 4.5% ABV... I didn't think I would like thus because normally session IPAs, So very crushable. This is a great summer beer!I did it all for chnookie pale ale 6.7% ABV...Soooo, definitely a West coast, all kinds of piney, but super low in IB US for a West Coast IPA. This is very good.More than Human West coast TIPA 10.2% ABV... All I can say is this is a perfectly balanced beer and if I didn't have to walk, talk and function properly, I could drink this all day. Drink 3 of these and you'll need a designated walker.So, in my limited experience Nepenthe Brewing Co has the best beer in Baltimore. Great service, great food and fantastic beer makes this a must visit if you want an awesome craft beer experience in Baltimore. I guarantee if you put this at the top of your list, you not only won't be disappointed, but probably will be thanking me. Last note: owner is: Brian, Brewers are Eric, Brandon and Renee. My first visit here was during restaurant week, the food was delicious. I'm not a huge beer drinker but they have a house hibiscus margarita that keeps me coming back. Delicious! (I didn't see it on the menu at my last visit, might of just missed it, but when I asked they immediately whipped one up.)

Came by based on a review in Yelp! Thanks Yelp elite! Parking is an issue, be aware, although if you can find parking, the bar and restaurant is worth it. Great selection of beer and food. We ordered the Beer battered broccoli and the Baltimore Blues burger. The broccoli was battered heavily yet still crunchy enough in the center. The burger was done, and servers never asked about temperature. Beer selection is absolutely fantastic. That's the real reason to come along with the bartenders and servers!

Really nice place and vibe! Came on a Friday evening so it was quite busy but was able to find a seat quickly. Tried a couple of their dark beers and really enjoyed the stout! We also got food, including the beer battered mushrooms and the tofu sandwich with fries. I really liked both! The tofu sandwich was really delicious and hearty - very well seasoned! The fries were awesome and they have a variety of dipping sauces as well!

I had dinner this evening at Nepenthe Brewing in the Hampden neighborhood of Baltimore, Maryland. I won't make that mistake again. First of all today is my birthday so I wanted to do something nice. Second it is Baltimore Restaurant Week so I decided to try one of the participating restaurants.When I ordered they told me that it would be about 30 minutes for the food to come out. My partner got his appetizer and sandwich within 45 minutes of ordering. I got my appetizer about one hour after I ordered and I got my sandwich ONE HOUR AND 45 MINUTES AFTER I ORDERED. My partner's food was good, I tried it while I was waiting forever to get my own food. My food was awful. The combination of flavors sounded a bit adventurous on the menu but when I tasted the food it was literally awful. The loaded Mac and Cheese with barbecue sauce and jalapeno peppers was just disgusting. The Chimichurri cheesesteak again was an awful combination of flavors.I asked for a box for my sandwich by the time that I got it. Then dessert, how could they mess that up? My partner got the bread pudding and it was burned on the bottom, they didn't even bother to cut off the burnt part, they served it to him burned part and all. My dessert was sickeningly sweet, I got the ice cream sandwich and the combination of ice cream flavor and cookie just did not work together. Overall I would describe the food at Nepenthe with one word - YUCK.We did get one beer and the beer itself was fine. The food was not fine at all. The level of service was comically bad. They do have clean restrooms. Street parking. Never coming back here again ever. They should ban them from Baltimore Restaurant Week.

Went to watch the Ravens game and can't wait to go back! The have game day specials that run the duration of the game, friendly and responsive staff that were knowledgeable enough to help a new-brewer like me to curate a flight of beer, tasty bar food and PLENTY of seating. You won't miss out on a play. Also thankful for the closed captioning enabled on the TVs.

I stopped by Nepenthe to celebrate a birthday on a Saturday evening. We had a group of 6 and were able to find a table to seat us. The brewery had a lively hum to it; there were lots of Orioles fans and college basketball fans there to watch the games and enjoy some drinks. I was happy to see that there were a few TV's scattered across the bar and a large projector on one wall. Overall, the atmosphere is really lively and friendly.The beer selection is pretty vast; I'm not a huge beer guy buy I was able to find a few selections that I liked. Of course, I started with a flight to get a taste of a few different varieties ($12-14ish bucks for four 3 oz pours). I then ordered quite a few of the 10oz pours for $5-7 bucks each. Then they have the full pint size for an additional few bucks. I like that they had these sizing options, allowed me to try a few different beers without feeling too full. Their IPAs were really nice - would definitely get them again. They also serve a limited selection of cocktails and mocktails, just in case beer isn't your thing.This place is really popular for their food. Our table tried a few different burgers, sandwiches, and bites. Overall, everyone loved their orders particularly the chicken sandwich options. Next time, I want to try the wings - they looked pretty great coming out of the back to other tables.The waitstaff were so friendly and helpful. As usual, I needed some help picking out beers to try; each person I talked to was so helpful and patient while helping me make a selection. The line to order more food or drinks moved quickly. There were plenty of staff to buss tables and keep the space clean. The whole operation was just really smooth.We stayed until closing time (10p on a Saturday) - everyone agreed that this was a great night out. I'd happily return back to enjoy more of their delicious fare and that fun filled environment!

I've been eating a lot of vegan food lately and this place has some great vegan options. Try and go on a slow day, on busy nights you might be waiting up to an hour to get your food.
