I came back! This time, I let the hostess seat me, and it was just as good as the first time. I ordered the fried snapper with mac and cheese, cabbage, and cornbread, and I went with a soft drink to wash it all down. The red snapper was absolutely delicious--seasoned to perfection! As always, the tunes they were playing created such a great vibe; I was practically jamming while eating my fish. My waiter was excellent, but they did forget my cornbread for most of the meal. By the time it arrived, I was almost done and asked for a to-go box so I wouldn't be charged for it. Despite that small hiccup, I'll definitely be back to try more items on the menu!

I ate here last night at the Gambrills location which used to be Genghis Grill that I loved. The reread well lit, great music not too loud just right, and the customer service was great! The menu options were good and the prices were a bit pricey more tolerable on a pay week, lol. Now let's get into the food; for appetizers, we tried the fried Deviled eggs and Hot honey salmon bites, Presentation was good but the taste had you searching for more. Not great or good just aight! The eggs were dried out and it mentioned crab meat which was no where to be found. A hard pass if ever visit again. The salmon bites could use seasoning in the batter but all you taste is corn meal. Now the hot honey sauce, tasted authentic and was fire!! Now to the entree; we ordered the Caribbean lamb chops with mac and cheese and yams. My daughter loved the lamb chops as they were well seasoned with a jerk flavor to them. The Mac and cheese was ok but not seasoned enough but she rated as 6.5. The yams started off good but became overwhelmingly sweet, then not to desirable as the after taste of honey was too much. So, that was if could return she would. I had red snapper with the seafood fried rice and collard greens. The star of the dish was the snapper. The seafood fried rice which had a jambalaya vibe lacked in taste and dry. It definitely tasted like it was cooked a while ago and not hot at all. The greens were decent and tasted like it was cooked in a turkey neck water and add a chicken broth cube but they were tender. Now the snapper wasn't fire but good. It was seasoned but add the liquid sauce which is advertised as the creole sauce made it good. Don't need much but had I ordered the cheesy grits as I really wanted instead of the rice, I think the bowl they gave would have been poured over the entire dish. Would I visit again, it would be a yes with hope of a better eating experience. Try it out and hope you enjoy!

This was my first time at this location and I went the on a Sunday . Here's what was good :Ambiance was 4 stars , music was great and the restaurant was nice. Location is in Laurel town center, so close to movies and other venues. Here is what was just okay: Food was 3 stars, all the main dishes were just okay , some entrees were in consistent as far as taste, but that could just be the day. We loved a few of the appetizers the Fried Deviled Eggs w/ Crabmeat, the wings and the Fried green tomatoes. Service was okay, they were attentive at first and then service fell off as we continued to dine. Overall, it's worth a try if you're curious, I would go back to try brunch as they had a few diff options than the dinner:

So I've been to the Miss Toya's in silver spring for brunch before, but a friend and I decided to go to the one in laurel for dinner. The first impression was it's much smaller than the one in silver spring, more like a diner, but that was fine. We were seated promptly (we had reservations) but it wasn't that busy so either way we would have been seated quickly. Once seated, we had to wait what seemed like too long for someone to come take our order. We both ordered water and the seafood pasta. Again, we waited quite some time for our water. The food came out and was very tasty! The only comment we both had was that it could have used a piece of garlic bread or some type of crunch to go with it.The parking is sufficient, it's in a strip mall. All in all, the food was good but the service was slow and somewhat lacking. I will return to Miss Toya's but maybe not this location again.

This is my first time dining at this location, I dined at their other location in Silver Spring before. Me and my Hubby came for lunch. This location is much smaller than the other location, the restaurant is nice with decorative decor. They weren't busy, they did have a large party of 8 Ladies and another couple dining. They weren't that busy, they were understaffed it looked like only three people working and the third I'm assuming was the cook, because I only saw two in the Dining Room. We were seated and the Server C. Nnamdi greeted us and took our Drink orders. I got the White Peach Lemonade which was good, my Husband got a Sweet Tea and he said it was too sweet, he had to add water to dilute it. And the Server told us it was no refills on our drinks. We got the Fried Devil Eggs with Crabmeat, they were dry and had only a pinch of Crabmeat on them and the Eggs were small, I know Eggs are high but these were disappointing. We also got the Honey Tabasco Lemon Pepper Wings they were crispy, but good. I got the Honey Caribbean Salmon Salad entree, the Salmon was overcooked and the Fried Shrimp Stuffed Crabmeat both dishes were just okay. My Husband ordered the Shrimp and Grits, he didn't care for it. They didn't put any Andouille Sausage in it and that's a main ingredient and it wasn't hot. Our food was just mediocre. Our Server was nice and doing the best that he could being the only Server taking orders. He thanked us for our patience also. They did get a few more Customers, so it was starting to get busy. Overall we were disappointed in our Food and won't be returning.

Came to this location about 2 weeks after they opened and they were understaffed :( It was an early Sunday afternoon and the hostess had no menus to provide. We had to wait to see a physical menu because the online menu at the time didn't have all the items. It was an appetizer & sides kind of day, nothing too heavy and no alcohol. Our server was also the bartender. I gave him many kudos for handling it all because he had about 6-8 tables including mine so we gave him some grace by being patient. My friend and I shared the fried deviled eggs, salmon bites, seafood egg roll, side of cabbage and greens. Loved the veggies and the non-alcoholic strawberry pineapple drink but the fried food just all tasted too-fried, like cooked in the same oil right after one another. Because they had just opened, once again gave them grace. Will return to try some other items and hopefully will have a menu right away and hopefully more staff on hand. Great potential.

Decided to go here with mom. It's a pretty nice spot. They are popping up all iver the dmv. The staff were nice. Not a lot of people in the spot when we got there. Only caveat, the place is a little small. I can see it being too packed in a weekend and having to wait. Also the food was good but a tad been on the salty side.

Delicious soul food for a great price. The menu makes it hard to choose, there's so many enticing options. I highly recommend trying appetizers and entrees. Reservations on nights and weekends are important they can get busy. This location is next to a movie theater and can attract more people than you'd expect. I have tried a few other locations, Silver Spring is one of my favorites as well.

Had a great time eating brunch at Miss Toyas. It was a slow day when I visited but do recommend making a reservation as it did start getting busy towards the end. Our server was very attentive and gave us suggestions when we were deciding between options. For the appetizers, we had the salmon bites which were not that great. They were fried a little too hard and became dry. The main courses were the lamb chops and fried chicken with eggs and potatoes with a side of pancakes. The food was good but a little on the dry side. I really liked the pancakes, they were a generous portion and had the perfect sweetness.

The food is excellent. My waitress, Aaron, was friendly and professional. The atmosphere was good enough for a date night or just hanging out with friends. The portions are generous.
