Food is sometimes available, but staff is flexible about allowing customers to bring in food when no food trucks are on site. The beers are always served cold. And if you can't make up your mind on just one, order a flight and sample several different ones.Service is amazing. Friendly staff will make recommendations if you ask.You won't find a more beautiful tap room in Baltimore City - this former Catholic church was lovingly de-sanctified (all iconography was removed), the pews were crafted into tables and chairs and all the painting was maintained.Must see it to believe it!

Formerly this was known as the St. Michael's Church up till 2011. Originally built in 1857 with the Romanesque Revival architectural style. Currently it is the Ministry of Brewing since about 2019. With the concept being a brewery and a brew hall. The outside of the building is an old, weathered stone. Very strong as it's withstood the test of time. This is their website here: https://ministryofbrewing.com/ I really love the mission of the Ministry of Brewing as it was created to be a gathering place in the community. And to help foster core values involving Education, Community, and Philanthropy.I first noticed the "Love is ALE you need" sign outside. Ale? That's alcohol, B I N G O. I stepped inside to see the beautiful high arch ceilings. Huge columns with decorative gold designs along the tops. Gazing at all the impressive architecture and slowly taking it in... it was all so stunning visually. Such a beautiful blending of the old and the new, preservation, restoration and reinvigoration. Such as with the use of reclaimed church items to build beer hall style tables. There's a Charm City Threads vending machine near the entrance filled with 'Stickers and Stuff', a collection of little collectibles.I walked towards the bar in the middle of the church and shared with the bartender my dilemma. I told her how I was Google-ing recipes at home for steaming live blue crabs. And then ran into the problem... As many of the recipes recommended beer, which I did not have on at hand. And that was how I ended up at the Ministry of Brewing. I asked for her recommendations on which type of beer I should use for the task. She recommended the Pilsner Czech-Style Lager due to its lighter flavors so it wouldn't compete with the flavor of the crabs. I trusted her expertise and grabbed a 6-pack to bring home.I used 2 cans for the recipe and the crabs came out great! The Pilsner did not overpower the delicate flavor of the crabs at all. It was perfect! Very Cinderella~ Overall, I recommend coming here! It has a nice atmosphere to chill and relax. I plan to come here again with my boyfriend to enjoy the good vibes.

Ministry of Brewing is a brewery inside what used to be a church. The concept for this idea is very unique, which is why I think it's very appealing to the public. A lot of the original church structure and decor are kept the same with a few minor renovations. They serve snacks, such as chips, but they also usually have a food truck out front that you can order food from. In my opinion their selection and variety of beers are very limited. Most of their beers are hoppy IPAs, stouts, with a few sours and a couple cider options. I got the Old Maude, which was an English Brown Ale and a staff favorite. They have trivia on Tuesdays hosted by BrainTease and discounts for medical workers on Wednesdays. They also have a ton of other events on their social media page. There is limited street parking and they are very dog friendly.

If you have seen my reviews, you know I like a good brewery. In Baltimore, they have one of the best looking breweries I have ever seen. This place converts a former church into a magnificent setting for a brewery. The place is really a treasure.Okay, a place may look wonderful but for a brewery it comes down to the beer. As wonderful as this place looks, the beers have their own beauty!Taste after taste was wonderful! Had the opportunity to go here twice during my visit to the city. Each time was better. Overall, my wife and I tried 5 different selections and all were great. This is a fantastic place and well worth the trip to Baltimore for a stop!

This spot is worth checking out just for the ambience alone! The brewery is in an old church with beautiful architecture inside and out. There is an ample amount of seating and on the day we were there, a food truck was outside which we took advantage of. Bartenders were very friendly. It's easy to order; just walk up and make your selection and they will quickly pour it and you can take it back to your table. The line moves quickly even if it seems long. I tried a stout, pumpkin beer, and Pilsner. The Pilsner was light and refreshing. I enjoyed the stout. The pumpkin was a bit lacking in flavor for my personal preference, but still good. Overall, this is a really cool spot and I'll definitely return.

Wonderful ambiance. It's huge, but feels very intimate. They did a great job of preserving the old church bones while adding in the bar and seating. They even kept some of the old pews for bench seating. I got there near closing, so I was only able to order one beer. I had the 9.9 problems, which was a delicious stout, strong but not overly heavy, sweet but balanced. Would love to go back and try more. Overall it seems like a great place to relax with friends and have some drinks.

When I pulled up to the Ministry of Brewing, I was blown away. It is literally a refurbished church, both outside and inside. *Gasp*... WOW!!!The place is fantastic, and as St. John, St. James and St. Andrew were staring down at me, I felt blessed to have experienced some fantastic brews. The place is huge, plenty of space for groups or even an event. Heck, it is a church. It was made for groups. The service was top notch and they offer flights, winning! An extra bonus, Ministry of Brewing is dog friendly. The BEER:Fresh Flannel pale ale 6.7% ABV... hoppy with floral notes, some ripe fruit, quite delicious and deceptively good, this is not an all day beer, unless your designated driver is carrying you to the vehicle.Kolsch with no name 4.8% ABV... this is the dictionary definition of a kolsch, light, refreshing, slightly cucumber. Please give it a name and give it Pickle flavor. It is already delicious, but Pickle would make it next level delicious.Dirty Maude Chai brown ale 5.5% ABV... Wow, this is fire. Like a party in your mouth. Dirty Maude is next level good.Mind Gap English Special Bitter 5.8% ABV... this was mind blowing for me, mouth feel reminded me of a Belgian and it is not your typical ESB. It is called special, but in my book it is extra special. This is not an ordinary brewery experience. Come prepared for a Jubilee, if you enjoy well made craft beer. As I was drinking my beer, in awe of my surroundings, all I could think of was how well made the beer is.If you are in Baltimore, go out of your way for Ministry of Brewing. I guarantee you won't be disappointed.

If you haven't had the opportunity to visit Ministry of Brewing, the idea of drinking in a church should be the reason alone to stop in.Much of the beautiful architecture from the church is still present, from the paintings on the ceiling and stained glass to the pews used for seating. You can't help but to admire the structure and ambiance of the building. I took a trip to Ministry of Brewing for the Bettlejuice Movie Night along with their partnership with Beer & Ballet. We practiced a little routine to perform our flashmob dance during the movie and after that it was time to grab a beer and settle in for Beetlejuice.I'm not a beer drinker but Ministry of Brewing does offer sour beers, which I actually do like, and they have kombuchas, which I was excited about. The team member working the bar was very helpful in assisting me with the flavor profile of the sour beer I chose. Ministry of Brewing offers a variety of beers on tap which are often rotated out for the season. So even if you're not a beer drinker, they may have something for you. If you're in the mood for a laid-back evening chilling with friends, having a beer or two, or want to bust a move with Beer & Ballet when they have classes, then you have to give Ministry of Brewing a try.
