Best example of a local neighborhood bar out there. Might not have food, but bring your own or have some delivered to you.

Ok, this is a fun bar. The locals are there and therefore you can people watch and attempt to avoid the obligatory, older, drunk, loud local guy that is always seems to be there. The bathrooms have amusing if not peculiar postings tacked to the doors which makes for great reading as you attempt not to touch anything. A local sports bar that you can go to and not have to deal with the idiots that play flippy cup at bars- and don't argue with me- those people are idiots. The bar has a smaller number of beers on tap, but the selections are great and they have plenty of beer in bottles. There is always a sports game or two one and often it is the harder to find sports. This is def a fun Irish bar- note that it also has a stockpile of board games too- what fun! Also, and this is important- they do not have a food license!!! They do however have a manila folder full of menus for places that DO deliver- Kislings is one of them (try the wings). This makes this newly discovered bar one of my favorites despite the drunken idiot that is always there. check it out** side note- there is a "Mike McGovern's" listing on Linwood on Yelp- that address is WRONG - ignore it.

This is one of those great little finds that I don't really want to share but Yelp! told me that another review is waiting so I guess I gotta feed the machine. So here ya go.Small Irish bar tucked away on S. Clinton St in an unassuming location. Bar is small but worn well. It's only open from Thursday-Sunday because the owner likes to tend bar and have a place to do it. Taps are few but have a good selection. I had the Jacques O' Lantern punkin spice ale and it set me straight. They have a wide array of Irish whiskeys which are probably the go-to drink there. No food but you can call out for delivery if ya like. Bartender was exactly what I look for: easy going and good on the conversation. I might tell one or two friends about this place but that's about it. This one's mine.

Before my wife was my wife, she and her roomies lived one street over from Mike McGovern's. I lived in Springfield and spent my weekends in Baltimore before eventually moving in with her and settling in Mount Vernon. There are some hidden gems in Canton, and this place is one of them. If you're like me and the Canton square is the last place in Baltimore you want to spend time at, Mike McGovern's is one of your alternatives if you're in the area. It's a small place and fills up easily, but it's got more character than just about any other neighborhood bar in Canton. The owner and regular bartenders are incredibly friendly and as far as 'no-frill's Irish bars go, this is the best one I've been to.

Could not ask for a better neighborhood bar. My boyfriend and I wandered in on our way to Jack's Bistro from Of Love & Regret. He'd passed it a number of times but never stopped in. It's sandwiched between rowhouses on a residential street, and the inside retains the coziness of a Baltimore home.About ten people inside, which due to the size of the place made it seem busy. They don't serve food, but you can order or bring in takeout. We were planning to eat at Jack's, but we wanted a snack in the interim. Saw an almost-empty bag of pretzels on the bar, bartender said, go ahead and eat the rest! We each ordered a can of Natty Boh, and when we asked for the check, it was $4. I laughed out loud. (I just moved from DC, so $4 for two drinks is absurd.)Friendly patrons, cheap drinks, great bartender...perfect neighborhood bar. We will be back, and we live in Fells!

Great neighborhood spot if you want to have a beer or drinks with some friends. It's in the middle of the block so hard to find unless you know where it is or are looking. Definitely a hidden gem.

Good local bar for night you don't want to deal with Canton square. Staff and patrons are friendly and welcoming. But be warned they do not serve food, but you can have anything you like delivered right to the bar.

Reminds me of O'Donoghues, a great pub in Dublin. Discovered one night after walking by several times wondering if the place was still in business. Torn between telling people about this place or keeping it a secret gem...
