Mackey’s Caribbean Cuisine

I tend to get the same couple dishes at Caribbean restaurants so lately I've tried to get something different. This time I decided to try stew chicken for the first time. Soon as I walked in, I was greeted by a nice and helpful lady who took my order. I received my stew chicken, coco bread and chicken patty very quickly. When I opened the box at home the food was steaming hot and smelled great! Everything was delicious! I don't know why I waited so long to try stew chicken. I'll definitely be back to Mackey's.

Authentic Jamaican food is hard to come by. Tried this place on a whim since our usual go to spot is on the other side of town. We're in Towson and have been really trying to find something that satisfies us completely. We kept it simple with staple dishes. The portions are plentiful. The curry chicken was a mix of white and dark meat. The jerk chicken was spicy, almost to the point of not be able to actually taste the chicken. For some reason, the seasoning didn't permeate through. The cabbage was steamed with carrots and the rice in both dishes was okay. All in all, Mackey's put forth effort but the overall flavor was lacking.

I'm just gonna keep my comments to myself Better yet, I am not... Lady was rude as because I asked about why my was order was so high. The prices are not correctly displayed. They say it comes with two sides but you have to pay extra for the sides other than rice. They only sell large sizes but the portions are medium. Curry chicken with 2 sides, jerk chicken and two sides all came up to 48.28, what a rip off.

First time at Mackey's. We really wanted the oxtails, but the lady said they wouldn't be ready until 3pm and we were starving at noon. We got jerk chx; dark and white meat, escovitch fish and beef patties, all were delish! Portions are reasonable for the price and the flavors were on point, beef patty was super flakey, I like that more than the processed patties which a lot of Jamaican spots do use. We will be back and waiting on them oxtails!

I been to this place several times and each time I'm never disappointed. Today I had a taste for coco bread so I popped in to grab a piece , I also grabbed some plantains to go with it. The bread was hot soft and fluffy, so good almost melts in your mouth. As for the plantains they were hot nice size sweet pieces of goodness.

Stopped by here for lunch today around about 1 pm. When I initially walked in, the funky smell of the small dinning area made me almost turn around. But I thought maybe they mopped the floor with a sour mop or something.I wanted the curry goat but they did not have it so I ordered the oxtail and curry chicken with cabbage and yellow rice. I wanted plantain but they were out of that too.The food looked great! The curry had a different color than what I'm used to. The taste was just ok, it was lacking some flavor. The oxtail had more fat on them then I'm used to and they didn't give much. The platter had a-lot of rice underneath the meat though.I know that the price of everything is going up but I paid $28 for this platter and I don't think it was work that much.I probably won't be back here again. Th customer service was off. As the customer, I was more happy to see them than they were to see me. I greeted the person at the register before she greeted me.Not once did they apologize for not having the items that I originally came in there for. How rude!

So I had the pleaser of eating Mackey's on Wednesday this week and it was my first time but not my last time eating at this place. I'm going to put Mackey's on my forever Baltimore list because this meal was so legit. I had the oxtails with rice and peas, cabbage and plantains and coco bread. He order the stew chicken with the same sides. There was so much food that we had two meals and I'm not complaining but the taste was amazing. Rice and peas hit different when you have seasoning and spices in them. Oxtails and chicken fell completely off the bone as soon as you touch it. And I need to research why it's called coco bread because I need to know what else can I make with that bread.... Anyway Thanks again to the staff that made the meal because it was a blessing. I'm just a Texas girl traveling and eating.

i ordered shrimp curry with cabbage and rice and beans two days ago. The shrimp was over cooked, the rice and beans was mushy and the sauce was not curry. it did not taste or look like curry (was not golden yellow). I threw the food in the trash. a complete waste of money. Will not order from here again.

Jerk checkin was hard and tasted like fucking tires from a 2009 Altima. How does jerk chicken not come with rice and peas !?? Just blocks of meat. I coulda made this shit myself
