I went to Louisiana restaurant last night and a time was had! The event there was catered , so I'm not sure about their food. I am however very familiar with Fells Point. The ambience was fantastic and the bartender was hilarious. I like a bartender with a sense of humor. Parking was a challenge but that is Par for Course.

Louisiana is where it's at for Creole food in Baltimore. I was a little skeptical going in, as the location does not look like much from the street. However, once inside the place it exquisite. The bar area opens up into a large dining room with white table cloths and a second floor balcony that overlooks the first floor dining room. A great dual winding staircase is guarded by two lion statues. We went for Restaurant Week; it was a Monday and they were open just for RW. We both had the crab bisque which was superb; creamy and rich. Could have used a bit more crab, but still outstanding. I had the blackened salmon with a potato croquet. The salmon was great; it would have been easy to keep a steamer tray of salmon ready to go for Restaurant Week, but this was fresh cooked and not overdone like most places. My wife got the shrimp and grits, which turned out to be the star of the RW menu. Creamy grits loaded with cheese with ginormous blackened shrimp on top. Dessert was pretty damn good too. The bread pudding was more than expected with what I think were craisins and white bread with a dollop of vanilla ice cream on top. The apple turnover with ice cream was also good; hot, crispy and loaded with ice cream on top. Will definitely go back for special occasions. Also, you definitely got your $30 worth for Restaurant Week, unlike some other places.

It's not really my taste. It was very stuffy and just too old fashioned.Definitely not the kind of place you'd want to go to after a ball game.

This place is beautiful. Huge, and has that old mansion aura. Service is good.Appetizers: Calamari: a bit dry and lacking in the taste department Crab Bisque Soup: YUMMY and creamyEntrees:Lamb: juicy and made perfectly. Potatoes and ratatouille were good tooCatfish: Not bad.. but not a lot of flavor.

A couple nights ago a few friends and I went to Louisiana Restaurant in Fell's Point for Baltimore Restaurant Week. Located on Aliceanna Street, the outside doesn't look like anything to brag about. I wouldn't have ever thought that inside was a beautiful restaurant with a mansion-like atmosphere.I started with the Louisiana crab bisque that was supposed to be garnished with jumbo lump crab meat. Apparently, Louisiana defines jumbo lump crab chunks as nonexistent/really really tiny. It wasn't until we were about to leave that we realized they just neglected the crab meat. I wasn't a huge fan of the bisque crab meat or no crab meat. It was on the salty side, and there were visible pools of oil floating on the top, which I could see going right to my arteries. But I guess if I'm here for Restaurant Week, I'm not really looking to go healthy. For the second course I chose the Grilled Black Angus New York Strip Steak. This course made up for the bisque big time. It was cooked perfectly (to my taste), very tender and juicy. The huge portion of steak also came with a side of potato puree (fancy talk for mashed potatoes) and asparagus. For dessert, I had the chocolate mousse, which I thought was very tasty. Not too rich or sweet. Just creamy enough. However, I was disappointed that they had switched out the Vanilla Bean Creme Brulee for the Apple Beignet. I was really looking forward to having creme brulee.Afterwards, our server kindly took us on a tour of their mansion. They literally have a mansion behind the main dining room. The first floor was filled with tables to accommodate all the Restaurant Week patrons, but the space could double as a ballroom. There was a grand staircase leading up to a second floor with more tables. You can book that area of the restaurant for private events, and depending on the size of your party, they may reserve either a section of the mansion or the whole thing. Pictured is a view from the staircase.**Bottom Line**The food was decent, the service better than decent, the wine not so great. The restaurant offered a few bottles for $25 just for Restaurant Week. We chose a pinot noir; unfortunately I don't remember the name, but it just wasn't good. Overall, though, a pleasant dining experience.

I cannot compliment the food enough at this place! I stopped here as a fluke, really. My fiance and I were looking for a great quaint place in Baltimore to have our wedding reception at, and immediately upon stepping foot in the Louisiana I was blown away. The art, decor, and spacious room is to die for. My fiance and I got engaged in New Orleans, so since I can't bring my guests to Louisiana... I figured we could have a little slice of Louisiana in Baltimore! This place is just so romantic, and would be the absolute amazing first date spot. When we initially sat down for the taste-testing, the food was absolutely phenomenal! That being said, I am absolutely not biased.I stopped in 2 nights ago for Restuarant week. I wanted to confirm that we weren't just given really fabulous food (cooked-to-order) for our taste-testing. My fiance ordered the Duck Confit and I ordered the Shrimp and Grits. Both dishes were so succulent, large and in charge. I have read mixed reviews on the shrimp and grits... but these were the BEST grits I have ever tasted. The shrimp is blackened, and when someone says blackened you better suspect that it will be salty. However the grits with the shrimp, counter act one another and make for the most delicious meal. The Duck Confit was also very succulent, with the meat falling right off the bone. I give the Louisiana 4 stars, because I want my wedding day to live up to its expectations... if all goes smoothly - I may just bump it to that five stars it deserves.

I have been here several times a couple years ago but when I went back two nights ago we had to wait 45 minutes for our appetizer and 50 minutes after our appetizer for our entree's to arrive. Also, over an hour after we ordered the waitress said there were no more scallops for my dish. They did give me my dish for free (which included shrimp as a replacement).I told the waitress the food was good but the wait was entirely unacceptable. She got defensive and said "our food is made to order and it takes time." Well, it shouldn't take that long. I told her I am never coming back to the restaurant. It's a shame.

When is the last time you went to a fine dining restaurant and nearly walked out before even eating? Louisiana was one of the worst dining experiences of my life. I'd give it less than one star if I could. (Six of us went on July 14, 2012.)Timing: Horrendous. Took 10 min for someone to notice we were in the empty bar. Seated 15 min late for our reservation in an empty dining room. 20 minutes to order drinks. After apps and soups, we waited over an hour for food. The waitress was nowhere during 99% of this. We had a group discussion about leaving.Service: Impossibly bad. Overwhelmed waitress had no idea what she was doing to begin with: errors taking orders, menus went to men before women, everything. If you're charging $30 for entrees, people expect a certain lever of service. I've had better, more polite and competent waitresses at TGI Fridays. After we had to ask why our food was taking so long, they turned up another staffer who apologized two hundred times but was unable to make it go faster.Drinks: She'd clearly looked the cocktails up in a book - and read the wrong lines. An old fashioned was literally Wild Turkey, grenadine and some cherries. Everyone switched to beer.Food: We had to send back the lobster special - it was so overcooked the lobster was rubber. No way we were waiting another hour for a new one. That unlucky girl just didn't eat. The crab bisque was good (had some shells), and the duck ragout was delicious. The rest was pretty good, nothing special but passable. In the end, they comped some of our drinks. It was still $65/person for worse food, service and atmosphere than a chain restaurant. Don't go here. There are plenty of restaurants in Baltimore where the staff and management care if you enjoy your experience.

My family is from Louisiana so I had high hopes. Sadly, I was disappointed. The food had no flavor nor did it have the consistency that we were used to. For example, the gumbo was watery and not thick as it should be as a result of using a good roux.

Beautiful restaurant and waitress was amazing. I rented out the restaurant on a Sunday for a Great Gatsby thèmes bridal shower. Did was good and decor was exactly what we envisioned for the event. Max Saki did well.
