I loved this place before the remodel. They had an actual mom and pop feel and the food is to die for. It is a dive but where else are you going to get authentic Mexican. I do get oodles when I go in as a white girl and big busted does not help so just be confident. I always get my food to go and sit at the bar when waiting. The girls at the bar are very nice but just like Chinese places that take the chop stix without asking they always hand me the English menu. I guess that's ok but I've been here since they had Spanish only and paper menus. The food is worth the minor deafness and stares from men. I've never seen a female patron.

You know that feeling when you find an Amazing hole-in-the-wall with amazing grub?Yeah, this Ain't that..DC's uniquely plagued with Salvadorian spots posing as Tex-Mex.. Imagine Lauriol Plaza in the middle of a dying strip mall with grimy atmosphere and worse food. Now imagine trying to wolf down fajitas even shittier than theirs while day-laborers are giving you the *side-eye*, obviously wondering what the hell an outsider was doing on their turf.. Here's the best part - you pay a higher price than Lauriol for the privilege.Should've known better. Only have myself to blame..

Update: They have remodeled the entire inside of this place. Instead of ordering at the counter and picking up the food yourself, there is now a server that will bring the food to you. When I went, she didn't seem to speak any English. That's fine with me.Update 2: The service seems to have rapidly gone downhill. The food is still pretty damn good.

3.5 for the tacos. 2 for the ridiculously loud music. I've only had the tacos, and they are always great, all the kinds. Everything is freshly prepared as you order. My only complaint is the loud music. I usually go on weekday afternoons and most of the customers look like laborers who are there to drink beer , blast the jukebox, and leer at the pretty waitress. She always talks to me in Spanish, probably because I'm brown.Anyways, I keep coming back. For the tacos ;-)

This place sucks. The food is bad and the girls that work there are awful. I was charge 15% tip without me Knowing. I was thinking about living a couple of $$, but not like that. I didn't want to say anything bc I didn't want spit on my food.

Dropped by here a couple of times in my ongoing hunt for outstanding authentic tacos. First time I did carry out for lunch, chicken tacos on fresh tortillas with a horchata to drink. Tacos were decent, chicken was a bit dry and flavorless but the handmade tortilla and salsa were tasty. Horcharta was good. Second time was a Friday evening where I ordered a quesadilla and the dreaded cheddar reared its head, that's usually my tip off that a place is not about serving an authentic menu. If you're looking for healthy young waitresses in skimpy outfits make sure to go by on a weekend after dark.Next up is taco mex on old columbia pike, keeping my fingers crossed but so far nothing has come close to my two favorites, El Tapatio (which I really need to get back to) and the lady with the Mexican flag tent at Unity Park in Adams Morgan on the weekends who has a wonderfully spicy carnitas...
