So happy to see these guys in Wilmington, NC for the Azalea Festival this weekend - I grew up in the DC area and have had more than my fair share of Cheasapeake Bay seafood, but it has been awhile.Bought a crab cake sandwich, a rock fish sandwich and crab hush puppies, brought them home and taste tested, all 3 are excellent!! The Rock fish is my favorite - big thick and juicy! For me a great taste of "Home" RIch - formerly of Annapolis, Md.

I had a Maryland style crab cake with saltines at their food truck while it was at an art fair in Altamonte Springs, FL. $13. Cake was deep fried and not broiled. So not too authentic. All stringy meat, no lump at all. Greasy and carnival style. They said it was award winning. Not sure who gave the award. Award was not on display so I'm skeptical. Maybe the award was for "best deep fried crab cake off a truck in a remote location ". Also, the damn tire on the truck was shredded. See pic. Safety first Laughing Crab.Update...after posing my accurate review I received a private message from the owner of this company, Lori J Hahn Maslin. She tried to defend her product explaining "that's how they do it at the Eastern Shore" and "we use lump meat, not super lump meat." I did remind her there are 18 "1-star" reviews, all very similar to mine. She then went on to say that people just can't write untrue things online. And then asked me how I would like to "proceed from here." Not sure what that means. Perhaps some sort of liable threat from this lawyer/food truck operator.

The food truck drove down to Virginia Beach for the annual Neptune Festival. It was perfect weather to walk the Boardwalk. We went down after Mass, so it was lunch time. We got the seafood platter which had 2 pieces of fish, 2 fried shrimp, popcorn shrimp, crab hush puppies and chips. We also got the clamstrips and fries. The chips were paper thin and crunchy with a hint of old bay seasoning. We started with the clams strips, then popcorn shrimp, the big shrimp, fish, hush puppy then crab slider. The hush puppies had real crab meat, not lota but it was in there. The fish was good, batter was crunchy. Overall, I'm glad the seasoning was jot too heavy or too salty.

$37 for a burnt crabcake sandwich, a palm-sized amount of aligator meat, and an ok rockfish sandwich. Over salted, overpriced, and overcooked. This is the first review i have ever done on the first visit.... not happy with the product.... How is this "Award Winning"? I AM SO UPSETRockfish sandwich was good

So we're at an arts and crafts festival down here in Florida, and I see a food truck selling crab cakes and Maryland crab soup. I don't see that too often, and I love that soup, so I stop by and get some stuff. The truck itself looks visually appealing and the employee is nice enough. I order the number one, the Crab Cake Sandwich "Our Crab Cakes are the Best and we have the Awards to Prove It!" I also get the Maryland Crab Soup, "Made from Scratch with out Traditional Eastern Shore Recipe."The sandwich. It was ok. The amount of crab in the crab cake was a little disappointing considering the company is from Maryland. I've gotten more crab in a crab cake from St. Pete, FL for about the same amount of money. Odd. The sandwich was topping-less, but I would have been ok with that, let the crab cake shine, if it wasn't for the ok crab cake. It wasn't all breadcrumbs or anything, just not enough of what you wanted for the price. The soup. It certainly tasted like the traditional recipe. I've had this soup made for me in my childhood by a real New Englander. So the flavor was there, spot on. But the crab, again, was lacking. I can understand lacking crab, but not from a spot that has them plastered everywhere in their marketing. Overall, if you see this truck, stop by and consider them. If your options are truly limited at the festival or fair you're at, and this is the only thing catching your eye, I'd say go for it. If you have a plethora of options, maybe pass it up.

Normally, I read reviews before trying new places but I didn't this time... I wished I did. We have food trucks come to our town every 1st Friday of the month. We don't go very often because it's not really a money saver so we do it for fun every once in a while. There were about 10-15 food trucks and this Laughing Crab food truck looked pretty flashy and I figured if they can spend the extra money to make the truck so fancy, they must be making good money=good business. Anyway, we ordered 2 crab cake sandwiches, 1 crab won ton, 1 fish and chips, 1 side of fries, 2 waters, 1 Gatorade, and 2 cans of Coke. Then there's tax and THEN 8% surcharge for using your credit card. As mentioned previously, food trucks are not money savers these days. Fine. If the food was worth it, I'm good. Crab cake sandwich: served on a cold sesame bun. That's it. I think it's just visually lacking. I like some color in my food. At least toast the bun. For $14, it just seemed disappointing. It was seasoned and not bad on the fillers but I've had crab cakes with more meat for same amount of money. The crab wonton was mostly dough. They used a small scooper to put the crab mixture in, about the size of a hush puppy and the dough is 6 inches in diameter. Any seasoning was in the crab mixture. The rest of the dough was just dough...very oily dough. There was a small pocket of oil in the corner that popped open while my son bit into it...rather unpleasant. Is Chinese duck sauce a normal condiment that goes with the crab wonton? But at least it gave some extra taste to the dough. I was told that the fish and chips were good. The side of fries was still in the shape of the fryer basket...super oily. Nothing great. Overall, we were not impressed and won't be returning to that food truck. I'd rather go to our local seafood restaurant and get more seafood for our hard earned money. Oh, here's a tip about food service: Don't bicker in front of your customers; it's unprofessional and sends a bad impression.

I should have looked up a review before I ordered something from here. I ordered the coconut shrimp. Nothing out of this world at all. My frozen coconut shrimp from Aldi is better than this and way cheaper. They even give u some cheap packet of Chinese sweet chili sauce. This is not good. Nope. Bbye!

While attending Fort Ligonier days and seeing the long lines this food truck had my husband and I decided to grab a quick bite here. They claim to have award winning crab cakes. They post an extensive menu outside the truck on a flip stand as well as on the truck itself. While my husband waited in line I went to look at the front of the truck where they have "replicas" of most of the menu items. I was debating between the traditional crab cake sandwich with the replica appearing slightly burnt, the alligator sandwich, or the full crab sandwich that had a fried topping to it. My mistake was that I should have gone with the full crab because at least that was sticking out from under the bun.As most of the reviewers have noted the crab cake sandwich is somewhat smaller than your sesame seed bun but I thought if it's award winning then I'd give it a shot. When we finally reached the truck I saw off to the side a seafood bag containing the alligator meat which looked like it came from a grocery store. To make it easier we both ordered a crab cake sandwich and I asked for a bottle of water to go with it. They took my credit card which asks you the usual questions about tipping and receipt and then was given a number for them to call us when ready. I was glad I looked at my receipt because they put an 8% surcharge on your card just for using it. Thanks for not telling us! Please be aware of this should you use a card.My number was called fairly quickly and I was given the two sandwiches. I asked about my water bottle and was told to "pull it" from the cooler off to my right. Needless to say the ice had mostly melted and it was drenched. Upon request they gave me napkins and tartar sauce which happened to be missing from their condiment table. We finally found a place to eat our sandwiches. Needless to say it really was pretty good. Was it worth the $13.00 I spent for it? Probably not. If I ever see this truck again I'd order the whole crab for $16.00. The business is based in Havre De Grace, MD but they usually will have food trucks at special events throughout the country. Often times when I'm attending festivals I'm usually at the mercy of the food vendors there and expect to pay higher prices. Nevertheless the sandwich wasn't overly filling which enabled me to get dessert from a different vendor. Just remember if you decide to try this place then be prepared to wait in a long line for service.

I was totally disappointed in the She-Crab soup that I purchased this afternoon at the Chattanooga Seafood Bash. It was basically a thin broth with some frozen mixed vegetables - no taste or pieces of crab. Portion size was perhaps 4 ounces. I know She-Crab soup and have enjoyed in Savannah, Charleston and New Orleans among other places. My suggestion is to avoid this food truck.

Today April 16th, 2023 at the Azalea Festival in Wilmington, NC we had the pleasure of eating at the Laughing Crab food truck. IT WAS AMAZING!! The food was prepared while we waited - fresh, hot and delicious. It was hard to choose with so much variety offered - so we tried several selections- Coconut Shrimp was fantastic - very well prepared and the taste was amazing and along with the Crab Stuffed Hushpuppies, Crab Wonton and Crab cakes - all 4 were some of the very best we have had. Great Job Tommy- he was our chief today and did a great job preparing the food, very knowledgeable of the preparation, polite and courteous. Everything we ate was amazing and the prices were in line with what we ordered. Great job - it was one of the highlights of the festival.
