I finally got over to try this place--I met a girlfriend there for Sunday lunch. I don't know WHY I waited so long. It was really good. They brought out some little rice cakes called puto (brightly colored) as an appetizer. They were sweet and tasted like little cupcakes, almost. I had expected something savory, but they were tasty. My friend had been there before and knew what to order. She ordered Crispy red snapper, with sweet sour sauce instead of the mango salsa. It came out whole, with the crispy skin, rice, and the sweet sour sauce. It was very tasty and the meat just about fell off the bones.I ordered the Sotanghon Curry from the specials menu. It reminded me of Singapore rice noodles. It was a huge portion of well seasoned transparent noodles with ground beef, chicken, shrimp, and vegetables. We both shared the two dishes. There were enough noodles left that I brought a full container home. In view of the portion size, the prices are very reasonable. Both dishes were attractively presented. The young man who was our server, Ezekiel, was great--he checked in with us very often.I hope to plan to take my group of friends there for a happy hour.

This is probably the best Filipino restaurant I have ever been to including all the modern ones in the Philippines! The chef is very creative and friendly! She even came to the table to greet us! The Calamansi Lobster is so good! You don't usually find lobster dishes in a Filipino restaurant! The Sisig is one of the best I have had and the Sinigang is delicious. The crispy pork belly is good. We like the homemade vinegar that they serve with it. I would highly suggest to them that they should make their own Lechon sauce instead of using Mang Tomas. Mang Tomas contains the toxic preservative TBHQ ( Tri-Butylated Hydro Quinone), and I believe it is now banned for import into the US.In any case, we can't wait to go back and try the other dishes!!!

It was okay. I am shocked to find a Filipino food spot in the mall which was so unexpected. We were pretty excited to try the place out! However, the food was just okay. We got the lumpia which were good but I have had better. The outside was crispy and fried perfectly. However, I would the say the filling was a tad bland. It was just a dense piece of meat and kept falling out of the outer layer. I liked the sauce that it came with. The hot sauce was nice and spicy with a touch of a tang. I liked the vinegar it came with too.The fried pork was good, but way too oily for me. However, I always feel like fried pork is too oily for me, so I'm not a great judge on that. My husband loves pork and he finished the whole thing happily. For our main we got the oxtail curry. It was nice and mild and I liked the fish paste that it came with so you can add some satliness to the dish. The oxtail was moist and cooked to a tender finish. The curry was milky and smooth. It didn't have a strong curry taste, so I appreciated the fish paste. For dessert was ordered the halo halo. It was good and tasted very traditional. I liked all the jellies in the dessert. The taro ice cream was the best part! Service was great and everyone there was so friendly and accommodating. All in all, a great spot to dine at when you are at the mall. However, it's not the best Filipino food I have ever had.

Was in the area so we came back for another visit. They did an awesome job again. Our server Asher gave us perfect service. We tried the kare kare this time and it was very good! I personally think kare kare is the best Filipino dish and they nailed it. The meat was so tender and flavorful, the ingredients were super authentic, tastes like home cooked but with excellent presentation. The ambiance is classy, definitely a more dignified feel. It's not Turo Turo or take out style.

Came back for another try craving Bistek and pancit. Unfortunately my high hope turned into disappointment.First tip off, near empty restaurant. Only one other table filled. The food was so bland. There was something off putting about the pancit. It lacked flavor, no personality... And the Bistek hardly had any onions, little sauce and dry beef. The taste was off again. Wow. It's as if the art and pride of cooking has been abandoned entirely here. No passion, and it shows.Filipino cuisine is full of rich, robust flavors that bring a smile to your face. Not here. And... The prices are outrageous! Will not return.

The best thing about Lasang Pinoy (Taste of the Philippines) are the napkins. After that it's all downhill! From there. Anyone reading this PLEASE DO NOT JUDGE Filipino food after eating here. The food is TERRIBLE, EXPENSIVE, and is a poor representation of real authentic food from the PI. The chicken adobo which most people love is terrible here, as is everything else. Do not I repeat do not pass go, do not collect your money...better yet save it! Go to Purple Patch in D.C. or my fav Kabayan in Oxon Hill, MD, or go check out Chef Wing at Balangay in DC. Dear Lasang Pinoy,Who is your chef? Are the Filipino? Should I send my Auntie your way to show you how to make these dishes that should be amazing? I'm am so disappointed in your food, and your prices. We wanted to support by visiting and we did. I'm sorry we spent our hard earned money here. My prediction is you won't last at your price point and because the food is terrible. This without any doubt is the worse food I've ever ate. I would highly not recommend this place. #SaveYourMoney you can go elsewhere for good food, and ambiance that makes you feel good just for showing up.

Went to Lasang Pinoy last night for dinner with friends in the area. Before we went, I read about the owners and where they were from in the Philippines. Most people who have tasted Filipino food in the past have had it from the particular island the person who cooked it and think that is how Filipino food is supposed to taste. Adobe is the national food but can be prepared in several different ways depending on where you are in the Philippine islands. Adobe can be marinated in vinegar and soy sauce or it can have coconut milk.Lasang Pinoy is the only fine dining in Maryland and when we went inside, the tables all had tablecloths and the restaurant is spacious. We were seated and greeted by our server, Quiza. It took me awhile to figure out that she owned the restaurant. She was attentive, funny, and answered all of my questions. We had complimentary puto (rice cakes) to start off and I have to say the puto was good! For our drinks we ordered, calamansi martinis (wasn't on the drink menu, but asked and they made it for us). We ordered the vegetarian lumpia, lumpia Shanghai, calamari for the appetizers. I learned that all of the sawsawan (dipping sauce) is all made from scratch. All of our appetizers were delicious. The calamari was perfectly cooked and the lumpia tasted like how my uncle, mom and dad, grandmother made it. It tasted like home. For our entree, we had the kare kare, shrimp pancit, and bistek. The kare kare and shrimp pancit were absolutely delicious. I have to say the shrimp pancit surprised me. It was perfect! I haven't had kare kare in awhile but tasted like his my dad makes it. I loved that there were bagoong and chili paste on the side. I've never had chili paste with kare kare so it's good I tried something different. For dessert, we had ube ice cream, turon, and halo-halo. Ube and halo halo are my favorite desserts. The turon was crispy and not overly sweet. I loved everything we ordered and will come back again. Before, you complain about the price point, remember you get what you pay for. I don't mind paying a lot of money for good, quality food and great service. This restaurant is definitely better than other Filipino places in the area.

The food was absolutely delicious, the waitress was superb, friendly, and attentive. The owner, at least I believe he was the owner, also came out and greeted us and was super nice! This restaurant is a must try!
