La Palapa Grill & Cantina

This was my 1st time visiting this establishment. Marvin was our server. I must say he was A-1. I had the tamales. I'm from Texas and I must say they were on point. I wasn't a fan of the sauce but overall, I'd definitely get them again. I had a peach margarita. It was good but I will get a top shelf next time. I wanted to enjoy the nice weather but the bugs wouldn't let me be great. We sat inside and it was nice. I can't wait to go back when the fireplace is lit.

We stopped in on a Sunday evening after a day of horse showing. For a Sunday they were busy. It took some time to be greeted (no one at the front) and we were told it would be a 15-20 minute wait. more than 30 minutes later we were seated. The staff kept our chips and salsa filled. it actually took longer than expected to receive our entree's. This is unexpected for Mexican as generally food comes quickly. I'd call the food mediocre at best. Not a lot of seasoning and flavors were off. Both my husband (he had the sunken burrito) and I (i had the fajitas) were disappointed. There was not a lot of meat in the burrito and the fajitas were quite bland. Noise level was medium and it was clean in the restaurant and the restrooms.This is a local place that does a big business due to the location but I think it unlikely we would return based on the wait times and food.

I stopped by La Palapa on a warm spring day and had a nice meal! Their outdoor patio is large and is a great place to be if the weather's nice. The chips and salsa were good, but I thought it was a little cheap that they charged for refills. I ordered a fajita salad and my friend ordered fajitas. They were basic dishes but pretty solid, and the service was good. My only issue is that I thought the food was a little overpriced. My salad was almost $20, and was basically just a tortilla shell bowl with some lettuce and a half full of chicken strips. Other than the price I had a nice time!

A must go to if you like Mexican food . The service was kinda slow on bringing out the check but food and drinks came out pretty good. Today was a party .... For cinco de mayo .... They had an outdoor tent set up with a dj and bar and dance floor ... it was a lot going on .My food was tasty. I never had an enchilada but tried the crab and shrimp ... it was too wet for me but I pushed through ... the salsa flavors were there ... they must use claw meat I didn't taste crab. The spicy cucumber margaritas was delicious but I left sober ... lol get shots .... Nothing bad to say.

I love the place!Food: very goodService: very goodAmbiance: very good, cozy, otantic and big. Only thing inside was a bit dark!I like the stuffed jalapeño! And burrito was good and big too!Chips and salsa made my day!And I am glad we didn't miss the #margaritaday today! Regula house margarita was nice!

This restaurant is located inside Old town Ellicott city. They do have limited parking out front which is also shared with the store next to them. The interior is fairly open and casual. They have two bars , the bigger one is out front and with a smaller one for the inside area. We ordered steak quesadilla , steak, Threaded beef, Mexican, corn, chicken fajita, queso dips. The steak was very good , so was the corn and the fajitas. The threaded beef dish tasted OK. Kind of blend. and the queso came out with sourness to it, that's why we barely ate it. Personally, I enjoyed their homemade spicy sauce, the most. Make sure you ask for it if you are a spicy eater.We had two waitresses came to our table , the first one came around, and she couldn't understand our questions, that's when we find out she barely speak English. Then the second one came to take our orders also brought our food, and she was very nice and patient. However, I do like to the point out . The overall vibe we received from this restaurant was not very friendly or inviting. And the reason being, when we walked in it was around 4 PM, the restaurant was empty with only two tables with customers. As we were walking into the inside room. There was a greeting table with a male standing behind it and a waitress standing out on the other side of it. Clearly we can tell the men probably is the night manager or some in charge, and he did not greet us at all. He just looked at us. Then later on after we finished eating , I wanted to take some pictures and footage of the restaurant for review purpose, and at that time he was standing by the bar casually chatting with a bartender and another female, Not only he didn't even acknowledge when I walked by the bar right by him,, instead, he walked away, felt like he purposely avoided me & pretending there was nobody just walked by him. Just Such an odd feeling. I don't think we will return to this restaurant. I'm sure you can get the same kind of food at a different Mexican restaurant with much better services.Do Not recommend by @winedinenvacay

LPG&C is located right on Main Street in historic Ellicott City. Parking can be a challenge but I lucked out and found a spot in a nearby public parking lot. Upon entry, I was greeted and seated immediately. It was nearing the end of happy hour but the server made it a point to take my order before time elapsed. Drinks came out pretty quickly, followed by the chicken quesadilla, which I ordered. Both were pretty good and hit the spot. Definitely add this spot to your list if you're in the area.

WOW! I honestly cannot wait to be back here again. We had such an amazing experience here with the staff and the menu. We had a table of 12 (I think? But all under 1 tab) and the waitress was incredible. She was so quick with our drinks (never got any of them wrong) and appetizers. The margaritas (frutaritas) were delicious and you can't go wrong with any of their flavors. I absolutely loved my strawberry and raspberry frutarita! We sat at the bar (4 of us) before we were seated at the table as we had to have the majority of our party there and the bartender was great. Their guac and salsa are both fantastic and we all demolished them so fast! Their guac dip comes in a fried tortilla bowl with chips on the side and I highly recommend! I got the grande burrito (don't remember the actual name) but it was around $20 and worth every penny. I cannot recommend this place enough!

I've been here a few months back but have forgotten to write a review, so here it is!The inside of La Palapa is beautiful, it was dark and very expressive. Even though this was the case, we were seated outside. I noticed that everyone was sitting outside and no one was seated inside. We weren't really given the choice to sit inside or outside. I still wish we were seated inside as there were many bugs outside and it was VERY hot. I'm pretty sure the waiter saw me trying to swat some bugs away and they just kinda walked away from the whole situation. There was at least 10 flys around us at all times.The food itself was pretty good! It wasn't the best or the worst but it was good enough. The ratio of everything was a little off but honestly, that is just me nit-picking at that point. Everything seemed just a little bit too dry for my liking. Somehow they made the beans dry too and it was one of the wettest things on the plate? Some things had the same flavor even though there would be multiple things on the plate.

First off, I have never written a review before. With that said, I felt compelled to be completely honest about my experience. I went with my family on a Saturday afternoon to celebrate my birthday. Our order consisted of 2 burritos, steak & chicken fajitas, and 2 chicken quesadillas. Saying the food was terrible is putting it mildly. The steak and chicken in my burrito tasted like it had been in the refrigerator for days. The other burrito was similar and same with the taste of the quesadillas. I'm not sure how people rate this 4 or 5 stars. The reviews with 3 or less stars seem more accurate than the 4 and 5 stars I don't plan on returning.
