Julep Southern Kitchen & Bar

The food was pretty good and the portions were great!I wouldn't go for the barbecue sampler. It was ok given that this isn't a barbecue place. However, everything else was better.

Overall I had a really great visit at Julep! it's a fairly big building with tons of seating options and nice ambiance. I could see it as a nice date night or early family dinner for those with little ones. We had a fantastic waiter who was alert to our needs, fun to chat with, and really insightful. His service alone truly deserved 5 stars. Now on to the food - we ordered the fried green tomatoes with shrimp. The $13 price tag for 3 fried green tomatoes was a bit steep IMO but it was delicious! They were flavorful and cooked just right despite the small serving size. For our entree, we both ordered the pork steak and our waiter said it's a fan favorite! After taking one bite, I could tell why! It was so tender, delicious, and big! I ordered a side of potatoes which was basic (and possibly powder potatoes). If you order this dish with potatoes, get the gravy on the side since the pork steak has a "sauce" that may clash with gravy. Lastly, I ordered the warm bread pudding and it was good. The hazelnut spread added a nice nutty flavor that taste delicious with the bread pudding. The only "Miss" for me was that it was serviced with basic apple sauce with a few apple chunks in it. It didn't really enhance the bread pudding taste and seemed like an aftermath addition. All in all - It's a solid place to grab food! But docking it a star for some (minor) misses along the way. And in my opinion, it was better than the sister location the Hideaway!

We tried this restaurant for the first time not realizing their connection to The Hideaway and we will definitely be back. The Cream of Crab with Sweet Corn is amazing! As was the brisket and Cajun fries. My grandmother likes their wings so much that she placed a to-go order to have for lunch the next day. The blackberry chipotle BBQ is honestly good on anything and the sweet tea was great.Our waiter was a gentleman working the bar and waiting tables on that side of the restaurant. He was working so hard and had a great personality.For those that are gluten free, my cousin says they have a lot of options and even have a special "menu" they can bring out to show you.

This is my first time in the service was good. The waiter (Antonio) was very attentive and found out about my mom's dietary restrictions. We probably ordered a little too much food. I always like to try wings, especially if they are stated in the menu as award winning wings! I ordered the old baby wings and they were OK. I also ordered the pulled chicken sandwich with a side of collard greens, which was delicious The biscuits are incredible with the honey butter! And my mom enjoyed her fried fish (catfish). We also tried the fried green tomatoes with shrimp and they were good as well. I ordered iced tea half sweet half unsweetened and it was perfect! Everything came out hot! It's a great place to come with family. They do have a bar in front where people were watching the game. Looks like they have a great bourbon menu as well with specialty cocktails. They have indoor and outdoor seating. I highly recommend this place. It was just the wings that was a bit of a turn off. Perhaps I needed to order another flavor outside of old Bay. I'll certainly return next time I'm in Annapolis.

I've always wanted to try this place. So my friend and I went here to have dinner. We had missed the Happy hour. This place is very spacious in the inside and I didn't expect the food to be that amazing and the drinks The crab dip was a 10/10The Brussels: I had to send them backChili: 9.5/10Mac: 9/10Mash potatoes: 7.5/10 The service was great too. Definitely will be going back.

Fun atmosphere with great selection of bourbons and ryes. Started with a smoked old fashioned which is made with Sazarec rye. Good, not the best one I've had. Ordered the biscuit basket as an appetizer and thought this was the best bite of the meal. Biscuits were huge and perfect flakiness, crunch and soft center, served with delicious butter and red pepper jelly. Table entrees included the ribs, brisket sandwich, sampler platter, chicken thighs, beet salad, and jambalaya. I tried all the bbq meats and the chicken thighs were best- super tender and juicy. All of the other meats were solid, just not standout. The brisket sandwich looked delicious, but unfortunately, I did not get to try that and didn't get pictures of everything. Cajun fries were yummy too. Mac and cheese is super cheesy; collared greens good. Got apple crisp and bread pudding desserts to go; both fine but nothing I would necessarily go back for. Service was decent, food came out quickly (maybe too quick, although I didn't feel rushed to eat and leave). If I went back, I would go for drinks at the bar and biscuits!

First let me say this restaurant has great customer service as well as great food. I will definitely be back to try some new items. We had the crab dip, fish and chips, and shrimp and grits. The grits could've been a little creamier, but everything else was delicious!

The biscuits are 10 !!!Good place, with a unique menu. I had the smoked pork steak, it was not what I expected. It was a 3 inch thick slab of pork shoulder, more roast than steak, but it was delicious. My coworker had the brisket. Said it was really good. It had an awesome looking smoke ring. But the biscuits... Incredible!!!

We live next to red, hot and blue, and we will drive 15 minutes to go here instead. Holy Toledo THIS PLACE IS AMAZING. Absolutely amazing bbq, but it's one of those places where everything on the menu is pretty excellent. My favorite is the blackberry chipotle chicken thighs, they're still the best bbq THING I've ever had. Customer service is pretty excellent, quiet little dinner spot that's well kept and looks nice, and just a real joy to visit. Continues to be great and our family will go here for years to come.

Update : Three years later and this update had to be done. First things first, shoutout to Johnathan at the bar. He did an amazing job directing me with food and drink suggestions. And did NOT steer me wrong.Per his request, the wings were to DIE for. The brussel sprouts, good - with or without the pork and feta cheese toppings. Everything, with the blackberry chipotle bbq sauce on top. *licks fingers* I think Julep can see me for a third time...
