Johnny Dees Lounge

Sometimes the stars just align perfectly. That is what happened to us last Saturday evening. We made a reservation for 8 for dinner at 6:30 PM. When we arrived, our table was ready and waiting for us. We loved that we all could sit around a round table. We were especially grateful that we were able to easily converse and not have to raise our voices to be heard. Polly was the consummate server. She was attentive, friendly, funny, and kind. We all thought she made our dinner that much more enjoyable. We enjoyed the following - two in our party had the fresh baked turkey platter with French fries, 2 ordered their famous shrimp salad platters, 2 got creative and tried the sour beef and dumplings, one had the soft-shell crab sandwich special, and I was delighted to see stuffed peppers with mashed potatoes on the special menu. We all thoroughly enjoyed our dinners. Thank you, Johnny, for coming over to say hello to us. Polly is a keeper!

Return visit! Party of four! Two first timers! I was so impressed with my first visit I had to tell friends about this place. As a group, we finally made it happen! Nothing has changed since my last visit. Good thing. After adult beverages and two cups of chili, our orders included a Reuben, Sour Beef and Dumplings, Chicken Caesar Salad and a Shrimp Salad Sandwich. Everything was great and service was typically good.The house was reasonably busy for a Thursday evening and that's a good thing. Can't wait to tell others and hope it's not eight months before my next visit.Fingers crossed!

Love this place! Old school, funky atmosphere that is comfortable and welcoming! Food is homemade and wonderful and offers different cuisine and specials.. servers are awesome! Big thumbs up!

Had the best dinner tonight. The crabcake was as good as I've had outside my mom's house. Everything was really excellent and the staff was super friendly. Highly recommend. We'll be back for sure.

What an interesting restaurant/bar. The interior looks like a bad version of Mad Men. However, this version is just outdated and in poor taste. It's the type of setup I would expect in a cafeteria or retirement home. The overhead lights are just as painful. Beyond the interior, since that isn't everything, the food is eh. It isn't bad per say but I would not return especially considering the prices. Mozzarella sticks are $10.50. They aren't gourmet and there's nothing special about them but they are indicative of essentially everything else on the menu that is overpriced for the quality. I ordered the gnocchi and it was lackluster both in taste and texture. It was only half cooked - half way too cooked and other half not cooked at all. It was way too soft for my liking as I think gnocchi should be pillows of pasta but this was more a mushy consistency. You should make a reservation if you do choose to come here. We stopped by at 5 on a Friday and it was packed with only a few tables unreserved. The service is attentive but not the most friendly. I would have given it 2 stars but my partner loved his sandwich and thought the chicken was really well made. I was disappointed coming here as it was marked so highly on google maps.

Baltimore, Maryland ---"Johnny Dee's" is an iconic neighborhood lounge/eatery known for their shrimp salad sandwich.Located in the lower back portion of a small neighborhood shopping center, there is plenty of parking options.The atmosphere is a bit too "sterile" for me, but some nostalgia memories pictures hanging in the lounge area. Holy, Moly, talk about a time warp...I thought I was in the Twilight Zone! I came here in the early sixties with my father who was quite the foodie and knew where to get the best food in town. This was THE place to go for crab cakes and hamburgers. When we moved back to this area and found that this tiny place still existed, I could not believe it... And then walking in and seeing almost all of the lounge furniture still intact, I was stunned.We enjoyed the food. I can't say that it has quite the same over the top perfection of old, but still good enough to go back from time to time. I hope it is able to continue on for many years.I recommend checking out this hidden little treasure that encapsulates a bit of Baltimore history...

I was absolutely Disgusted to see an infant sitting at the bar with their white privileged parents. Although its totally against the Law, to have a baby sitting at the bar. Too trashy & cheap to pay the real prices in the restaurant.

This is a great old school place. My mom has been coming here for years and was the one that first brought me here. The waitresses are super nice. The shrimp salad is amazing and it's the only thing that I ever order here. If you want a great shrimp salad sandwich this is the place to go.

Delicious food, reasonable prices and excellent service. I go there every week. A great ambience.
