So we were celebrating a Birthday I had called several maybe 6 other restaurants trying to make a reservation for 20 some said NO some wanted me to pay $1500-3000 and some well I never got a response from voice mails left to emails sent When I called J Hollinger they told me to emailed Nick Lopata he responded promptly and set the reservation with no questions asked just that easy originally my RSVP was for 20 then it went to 30 I emailed Nick and he kindly changed the RSVP to 30 still not asking for money up front and still being prompt to respond the day of our event we had 34 people in attendance and I failed to notify the Restuarant in advance HOWEVER they gladly seated all of us they were moving tables around and all to satisfy the party I've never had customer service like this they were so kind and catering Fran from Austin Texas had just started and she was Great!!!!!! However our waiter Erik was THE FREAKING BEST!!!!!!!!!!! very attentive never had to wonder where he was when we needed him he was right there ready to take care of usThe food was delicious from the smoked salmon to the fried chicken to the steamed shrimps and Jesus them waffles were so good my God I'm overwhelmed with the great service we had you really don't find service like this anymore our hearts are full Thank you J hollinger for making this 58th birthday celebration unforgettable

The good: Our server was great. The shrimp cocktail was great. The bottle of Freemark Abby cab was great.BUT we asked for med rare steaks and got well done (grayish cooked through). That's an epic miss for a chophouse. My wife's steak came with a quote au poivre sauce that had zero whole or cracked peppercorns and no cognac flavor to it. It tasted like a reduced Campbell's mushroom soup. Again unacceptable for a chophouse. Sides were decent but not memorable. Price point is not competitive with other regional restaurants that do not burn their steaks. We will not be coming back here.

"Cozy" in Yelp's description is the operative term - I started a long night of partying here last night with a party of 7, and on a Saturday night at JHWC's bar, that's definitely tight. Everyone was friendly though, from the bartenders and staff to the other patrons. The tempting happy hour deals (is it really HH if it's every night from 6 to close?) are only available at the bar, and since I wasn't interested in doing dinner here we made do with the noisy, packed part of the restaurant. Thumbs down for food options for vegetarians, literally one item that I can't eat. If you like seafood though, there were some nice offerings in that category that I wish I could have tried. It was a fun vibe to start a night of partying though I kind of expected it to be more upscale. That might be true in the dining area, the bar is pretty laidback and casual though. JHWC is the kind of place that I'd come back to for drinks with just one or two friends, and maybe to see a game, but wince it's a bit of a hike for me to get to, Im not likely to return. My rating is really 3.5 stars, rounding up to be nice (and mathematically correct).

Awesome happy hour!! We came after the movies and got a spot at the bar. It wasn't crowded at all--maybe about 3 other parties at the bar and some at the hightop tables nearby. We ordered a spread-- shrimp cocktail, crabballs, Mac and cheese, pork spare ribs, steak satay, and fries. Everything was so delicious!! I loved it. I ordered a Paloma from the menu and subbed out the tequila for vodka. It tasted like juice but tasty. For dessert, my boyfriend ordered the tiramisu to go. I will definitely be back the next time I'm in the area.

Service: Vicky - hostess - was wonderful. She went above and beyond to help our party. Food & drinks: Tried the calamari and steak with potatoes. Loved. The steak was cooked perfectly, salted well and the potatoes were fluffy. Not usually steak sauce person but I enjoyed their homemade sauce a lot. Calamari was okay, might try something else next time. Cute but compact inside. The booth is the best place to sit.

From the moment we walked into J Hollinger's, we knew we were in for a treat. We recently celebrated my mother's birthday with a delightful brunch that exceeded our expectations. The all-you-can-eat brunch is available on Sundays from 11 AM to 2:30 PM for just $35 per person, which is an incredible value. The restaurant boasts a cozy atmosphere, enhanced by lovely artwork adorning the walls. They creatively convert the bar area into the brunch space, and the buffet features a fantastic assortment of both hot and cold dishes, offering a nice mix of sweet and savory options. The made-to-order waffles were a definite highlight, allowing you to choose between a half or full waffle topped with delicious options like fresh berries, whipped cream, and real maple syrup. We started off our meal with some refreshing mimosas, and the staff was exceptional! They brought us two types of champagne along with carafes of juice for crafting our own Bellini mimosas.A memorable moment during our dining experience was when the restaurant surprised birthday celebrants with special desserts. They played Stevie Wonder's version of "Happy Birthday," creating a festive and joyous atmosphere that truly made the occasion fer extra special.

I recently visited J Hollinger's Waterman Chophouse to celebrate my sister's birthday. The atmosphere was nice, and the service was attentive, but the food overall fell short of expectations. We started with fried calamari, vegetable tempura, and seared scallops as appetizers. The scallops were the highlight--perfectly cooked and flavorful. The calamari and tempura, however, were just average. For the main courses: * I ordered the Prime Angus New York strip steak, but it was surprisingly bland for such a high-quality cut of meat. * My sister had the pork chop, which she said was decent but not memorable. * My husband had the Prime Angus boneless ribeye with shrimp and felt the same way--underseasoned and lacking flavor. * My mom enjoyed her crabcake, but my brother's rack of lamb didn't stand out. Overall, while some dishes had potential, most of the meal lacked the bold flavors we were hoping for. At this price point, we expected more. It wasn't a bad experience, but I'm not rushing back.

Great birthday dinner for the husband! The parking is so easy, made for a great start. Everyone greeted my husband with a happy birthday. Enjoyed all that we tried. Thanks to our server Kelly for a lovely evening and recommending the banoffee pie, yum.

My sweet partner surprised me with date night here. (I love me some him.) Thank Goodness my honey told me NOT to dress up. Ambiance is not upscale. It's giving casual and most patrons came that way. I would have felt out of place dressed up. J Hollingers was bookmarked so I was excited to see what the hype was all about. We got our menus and the restaurant week menu was still an option, it just made sense to order off that menu. Even though my perfect partner always says order "whatever you want" (his words exactly), the restaurant menu seemed like the best option because what we wanted was on that menu. Plus it came with dessert!!! I never finish my food, so this menu would provide dessert no matter what! Service was off. From our waiter to the manager. It wasn't that they were rude, it was that they were just not attentive. It was busy but still, service and food lacked. It was also super crowded, there were more butts in my honeys face than I approved of. Can we get some space people? Awkward for sure! Let's get into it! Drinks - They were okay, nothing we need to write about. Appetizer: BBQ pork ribs were okay. Cesar Salad was okay, small in size. Main Entrees:Salmon - It needed flavor, salt, marinade, a prayer, not sure, but it was missing something. My honeys Lamb Chop were small. He politely asked if this portion size was for restaurant week and was told no, it's the normal size. He looked so disappointed. He said it was good but boy was it small. Dessert:We had an apple crumble of some sort it was okay not the best. Welp Yelpies, I wish this was a hit, as many of you have given 5 star reviews. For me, it was just eh. Couldn't give them more than 3 and that was generous. There are way too many places just like this place, same price point, with bigger portions, and better service. Check mark completed but won't be repeated. XoNessa

Seems that they updated their menu. Tried two new cocktails. Oysters and fries are also pretty good.
