I recently visited the Iron Rooster in College Park for the first time with some friends, and as former employees of the University of Maryland, we were excited to meet up at this popular spot. From the moment we walked in, I was impressed by the welcoming atmosphere, the friendly staff, and the overall ambiance. The space was warm, inviting, and perfectly suited for a casual but enjoyable meal. Our waiter, though well-intentioned, was a bit awkward at times, but it didn't detract from the overall positive experience. The service was still attentive, and we felt comfortable throughout our visit.I ordered the steak and eggs, and I have to say, it was absolutely delicious. The steak was perfectly cooked--juicy, tender, and full of flavor--while the eggs were cooked to perfection. The portion size was generous, and I was satisfied with every bite. Another highlight was the price--given the location in a college town, I was pleasantly surprised by how reasonable the prices were, especially for the quality of the food. However, there was one issue that dampened an otherwise fantastic experience: parking validation. My friends and I were at the restaurant for about four hours, and I received a parking validation from the hostess when we arrived. Unfortunately, I didn't realize that the validation was only good for up to three hours. When I went to leave, I found out we had just missed the cutoff, which meant I had to pay for parking. Had the restaurant communicated this limitation more clearly at the time of our arrival, I either would have planned to leave earlier or not bothered with the validation at all. This lack of clarity around parking was a minor inconvenience, but it's something the restaurant could improve upon for future guests.Despite this small hiccup, our overall experience was great, and I would definitely return. The food, ambiance, and service were all excellent, and I look forward to another visit soon.

Short review alert! If you want something more than IHOP or Bob Evan's then Iron Rooster is the place for you. Iron Rooster reminds me of "Eggspectation" in Crofton, which has always been a favorite of mine. My crabcake Benedict and her waffle were slammin!!! I don't have the opportunity to eat scrapple often and their portions are huge and cooked to perfection! Our server was nice but service was just a lil off. She was slightly forgetful. Located inside "The Hotel" in College Park, Iron Rooster is large and has a full bar. No doubt, Iron Rooster will be in my heavy breakfast rotation.. and oh yeah, parking is free with validation..DOPE!!!

Quick Take: Delicious and filling food. Inviting decor. Breakfast all day! They say you should break fast like a king, dine like a prince and sip like a pauper. I just focus on the breakfast tip! I really enjoyed the California omelette. It had meats, cheese, spinach in copious amounts. Plus a dollop of guacamole! It was fluffy and neither runny nor rubbery. I asked for crispy home fries. They are sliced and tasted crispy but very bitter so inedible. Definitely liked all four food groups on my plate!Friend had the breakfast quesadillas and liked it. Tortillas were thick and they were stuffed. Kinda like us, lol. Waffle looked crispedy and pillowy and came with warm syrup. My Arnold Palmer was the best I'd had in a while. Definitely scratch made. I had to detract a star since the person who came to check about my allergies told me flour was wheat free. We had to go to No ER School right quick. No GF bread or sweets btw. I will be back and may also try their supper menu after 3, obviously not as a pauper.

Iron Rooster is a solid choice for breakfast. The food, drinks, and service were all enjoyable. They also validate parking, which makes it convenient to park in the hotel garage. My only hope is that they eventually offer a full bar. The restaurant has a lot of great natural light. I like the setup. I had the crabcake Benedict and the rooster bites...Both were delicious.

Inside was nice with plenty of seating , had great ambiance and wait staff very friendly. The amount of sugar high we had after leaving here was something else. They have enough sweet treats on the menu that made even me as a sweet tooth person and my son who is only7 said it was a lot of sugar but of course in a good way ! The only thing I'd like to have changed is the steak and old bay honey shrimp. The steak was tough and flavorless and the shrimp was gummy and also lacking seasoning. Everything else was A1 from the dip filled with crab and the churro waffles just to die for although I'm typically a caramel gal some chocolate sauce with it would've been much better. Would love to come back

This is a solid brunch spot. We came here on a Saturday afternoon. Parking was easy - you get three hours of free parking in the Hotel at UMD garage with validation (the restaurant's front desk will put a validation sticker on your parking ticket and then you can stick it in the machine as you exit the garage). I made a reservation online in advance, though there was plenty of seating available when we arrived. There were so many great menu items to choose from - it was hard to decide! The chicken and waffles was a popular item - there were plates of them all around the restaurant at nearly everyone's table.I ordered the Rancher's Eggs Benedict (~$16), which serves fried green tomatoes in lieu of the classic Canadian bacon, and also came with corn salsa, Boursin cheese, poblano sauce, along with the traditional poached egg, English muffin, and hollandaise. The eggs were perfectly poached; the yolk was nice and runny. The dish is also served with a side of their home fries. I'm not the biggest fan of home fries, but I enjoyed Iron Rooster's. When it comes to home fries, I'm used to diced potatoes, but these are sliced which gave the potatoes more crispy edges. I enjoyed the dish overall, but I would probably order something else next time.My friend ordered the breakfast combo with the Oreo Crumble French Toast. The Oreo Crumble French Toast sounded mouthwatering, but it was underwhelming and ate dry. There was a family dining next to us and the child was given a kid's menu with crayons to do some activities. He ordered a cute kid's breakfast combo which came with a mini Roostart (their signature poptarts) - a good deal if you have little ones... I was definitely eyeing their Roostart!Service was quick and friendly. I'll be back!

Went to iron rooster for Mother's Day, it has unfortunately taken me a little while to get to this review. The food was good, although the eggs Benedict was overcooked but the flavor was good. The pop tart was a delicious treat and I am glad we decided to split it. The service was a little slow and they kept forgetting to bring us things so that was a little bit of an issue. Otherwise a good experience.

Came on a Saturday, was excited to take another bookmark off my long list of Yelp Elite recommendations. Here is my take!1. Yelpies you know I love coffee! Thank goodness I put cream in my coffee cause there was a whole eye lash in the coffee. Ew. So I'm sure the eye lash got in there by accident but still it was gross. 2. I ordered the chicken and waffles, it was okay. Nothing to write home about. I will say it does come with potato's and most chicken and waffle plates do not. Still it's okay but not a fave for me.3. Bacon and eggs were good there was just so much oil on the eggs. You are able to choose a half a waffle or pancake with what I ordered, and the waffle was cold. The manager was the one who I had to tell about my coffee. I would have thought he would have come back to apologize, instead he said "ew" gave a smirk and said he would be right back. Manager presence is so important to me, although managers were close by they were there but not "concerned". Maybe he thought it was my own eyelash but I wear mascara and this eyelash was mascara free. (Shrugs) The restaurant is new and you'd think it would be clean. It was Dusty! No lies told. I took a pic for those to see. I'm super clean (OCD clean) so I notice those intricate little details at restaurants. I almost wanted to clean for them, it was that dusty. The picture doesn't do it justice in showing how much dust was truly on the ledges. For me, this didn't live up to the hype. It's still going strong and I do have close friends who come every day! My experience was likely an off day. I'm not sure why so many people hyped this up. It's okay not the best. I wouldn't come back just to eat here, honestly I would pick the diner down the road or Silver Diner. Being in the Hotel makes this appear a little upscale. But it's definitely not.

Great if you are staying in hotel. Perfect to visit twice in the same day. Came here because I was in a wedding in the hotel over the weekend and I happened to be the groom. Anyways, stuck by myself, I came here for breakfast. The service and food is insanely good. Think IHOP minus the slow service, so-so food, and sticky floors. It was so good I came back for lunch. Both meals tasted great and the servers they have are like really good. It's almost like another world. Come here to eat - especially before weddings.
