Inca Chicken

In need of a quick dinner, I decided to stop by Inca Chicken to grab a little Peruvian. Nestled two stores down from the MVA, Inca Chicken is your typical Peruvian chicken spot. They offer rotisserie chicken with a number of sides to choose from, burrito bowls, subs, and a few special items.It wasn't too busy when I stopped in, but the traffic started to pick up a little bit. I ordered a burrito chicken bowl, which took a bit longer than the 12 minutes quoted to have it prepared. But I waited patiently for my food to be prepped. The burrito chicken bowl came with your typical burrito bowl toppings minus the guac. Now, I wasn't really blown away by the flavor of the bowl. The chicken was a little dry and could've used some more seasoning, and the rice and corn didn't really appear to be seasoned either. The taste of the bowl gave me more of an "at home" preparation rather than a fast casual restaurant. I also thought Inca Chicken was a little more on the pricier side, at $12.99 for a chicken bowl, which I could've got for about $10 at Chipotle.Inca Chicken is not a bad spot to pop into for lunch or dinner if you happen to be wasting away your day at the MVA.

As a fan of Chicken Rico, when I saw the signs littering the median on Eastern Avenue proclaiming that Inca Chicken had opened in Essex I was pretty thrilled. My mom takes me and my boyfriend out to lunch every week, but we rarely come back to Dundalk. So we usually make our own Peruvian chicken (McCormick spice company makes a great Peruvian seasoning) but it's really not the same without using the same cooking method. Plus, the first and only time we ever tried to make our own yucca fries was a real workout. Have you ever tried to peel one of those things?! Good luck. And then, apparently, the outside of the yucca can be poisonous so you have to scrub your hands as to not poison yourself? Maybe I am just showing my whiteness. Or my laziness. Either way - not worth it.Today the three of us totally decimated an entire chicken. We got the yucca fries (of course. I love them. I just can't make them) and a small garden salad. Plus my boyfriend had a steak burrito (steak, rice, corn, beans, sour cream, tomatoes, etc) that was pretty incredible. My mom told me to put the restaurant on my list of places to come back to at some point, which is akin to her seal of approval. I think she liked that we got all of that food for less than $40. That's much less than we usually spend on our lunches.The restaurant is clean and spacious, with plenty of tables. And they offer a wide selection of sodas, including one of my favorites: cola champagne!Would recommend

This is a Peruvian restaurant that does dine in and carry out, closed Sundays.We have been anxious to get some good Peruvian chicken close to home and this place did not disappoint! The aroma had us at the door, there is nothing like it. The young man took our order, the menu is not that busy so they can do well on what they offer, carryout menus also available.For the 2 of us we split a 1/2 chicken with 2 sides.Sides were fried rice (generous scoop) and a small salad. All were great, really delicious.The chicken was very moist, seasoned just right and the fried rice hit the spot.The fried rice is not like the typical Chinese preparation-it seems less dense and more of a seasoned flavor. Portions were just right so there were no leftovers. Prices are reasonable, add in a drink, we got out of there for $17.48.Dips and dressings included, if you need more sauce, you can get them for a quarter, I honestly think they would give them to you for free.Very clean and staff friendly and helpful.Will be back sooner rather than later.

Overpriced and the staff isn't friendly at all. The side portions are really small. A whole chicken and 3 small sides 54+ dollars is crazy!
