Merek Lamb Tibs & Veggie Plate
The coffee is great, too, and served in super cute retro diner ceramic cups.
Kitfo is the steak tartare of Ethiopia, the gomen kitfo is the greens with cheese to the right, and delicious beets.
Insanely delicious platter of yummy kitfo (center, spiced raw beef) with veggies at Walia Ethiopian in Takoma Park, MD

Good Ethiopian food close to my home. I went in to order since all the apps upchsrge like crazy. I waited maybe 15 minutes for all my food to come out. The Awaze and Lega ribs were pretty good. I ordered the Awaze as beef and Lega as lamb. Both were good but lacked the nuance and extra barber spice that other places produce. They were kind enough to make a couple changes with the veggie platter which I really appreciated. Overall the vibe inside is authentic (albeit a bit smokey from incense) and the food is good.

I got a veggie combo delivered through GrubHub. The sides were decent, but none were particularly standout and the collards seemed a bit salty and lacking. On the plus side, shiro is one of the included sides and the food didn't seem too oily. 3.5 stars.

During my stay in Silver Spring, I had the pleasure of enjoying some authentic Ethiopian food from here. I got the veggie plate (which is always a must at any Ethiopian spot) and the lamb merek tibs. The flavors in everything was delicious. I also used some sauce from my friend lamb ribs foe my meal which was spicy and yummyy! definitely recommend. Thank you! I will say that I've learned that I love lamb chops prepared to my liking is better than the toughness of lambs cooked through. Nonetheless still good!

I am so sad about my last 2 meals ordered from here. I have loved this place for Years! We always get the veggie combo. The last two times the flavor/spice is off; the kik alicha is cooked to babyfood consistency and, the potatoes were undercooked. Must be a new chef?

Unfortunately this visit was probably our last They were out of Doro Wat so the waitress suggested something else and it really was not good. I'm talking tasted like soap. I have a hard time understanding how a restaurant can run out of something especially when they have a grocery store directly across the street.

Today came for lunch. We we're very hungry and we were excited to come. I cam with my children and my father and the waiter was very impatient. She continued to rush us during our order because she wanted to help another person. Second, we ordered a simple Ethiopian dish called shiro (which every ethiopian restaurant has) and they didn't have it. We also asked for ethiopian injera (because my daughter has a gluten allergy) and they also didn't have that. This experience overall was very frustrating and disappointing. We have been customers for a while but this left a very bad taste! Moved on to another ethiopian restaurant that was able to accommodate all our requsts

It was overjoyed to find this place! I love Ethiopian food but I don't want to drive into D.C. when I want it. We tried this place for my sisters birthday and was not disappointed. She's vegetarian and she's never tried Ethiopia food... She loved it!!! We shared a vegetarian platter and we were both extremely satisfied. I only wish the sambusas were available on the menu and not just next door at the grocery store owned by them as well. We will definitely be back! Don't be fooled by the location... This place is really good!

honestly I love the place. I love the food and prices are very correct. The main issue is 3 times out of 5 when you call to order something, they are always out of that food. Why don't they get things and are so short always? They really need a better management of the place

On Uber Eats, I ordered a special Kitfo for $20.99 and a quanta firfir for $16.99 and was astounded by how bad both tasted. I am truly ashamed of how this restaurant represents our country by serving that food. Non-Ethiopians may be pleased with the food because they have no idea what authentic Ethiopian food is, but for someone who has grown up eating Ethiopian food, it was an insult and an embarrassment. I might sound aggressive that is because I was annoyed I couldn't take a bite of the food, and I trashed it. I can't believe I spent all that money on this. Anyway, I am extremely dissatisfied with this restaurant and will never order from them again. I don't recommend to anyone ordering food from them!
