Hunan Delight

Ive been coming here for over a decade and last night was the best Gen Tsos I have ever had!! This is a no frills Chinese takeout joint. Food is always hot at pickup and their times are usually spot on, its coming off the wok when I walk in. Only thing that has changed over the years is the owners I think?? Its def not the same person up front working anymore.

I mistakenly ordered from Hunan Delight the other day. I can't help but wonder if I had placed my order at the actual carry-out I thought I was ordering from, how my food would've turned out. Oh well, you live and you learn! How does one mistakenly place an order at Hunan Delight...well, there is a Hunan Garden in Bowie and that's where I thought I was calling. See the issue? Moving along...After craving shrimp lo mein for a while, I decided to order some take-out. Once we discovered the whole, "you ordered from the wrong place" dilemma we just decided to stick with Hunan Delight. We ordered 2 egg rolls, BBQ ribs, Shrimp Lo Mein, Chicken and Broccoli, and General Tso's Chicken. The gentleman that took the order was extremely friendly and helpful. When the food was picked up and brought home it was still pipping hot and nicely packaged. The problem was that it lacked seasoning and flavor. My shrimp needed to be cooked a minute or two longer, the chicken and broccoli lacked any type of flavor and the General Tso's barely had 1 stalk of broccoli. It was just okay - at best. I've had much better. I will say that they weren't stingy with the portions, but if it lacked in the flavor department, what was the point? I ended up tossing the leftovers. Perhaps next time I get a craving for some carry-out, I'll try the Hunan spot I thought I was originally calling or take it back to my stomping grounds of Landover to get some real carry-out. Either way, I won't be returning here.

My 2nd try with Hunan Delight and it was awful. I wasted $19. The spring rolls were so greasy they slipped out of my fingers and no flavor except for oil. The sweet and sour chicken was either wrong or a piss-poor version of their recipe. The chicken fried rice was tasteless, and the chicken was chewy and bland. As a Bowie resident, can we please get a take-out with quality, flavorful and good food for the money? I was so pissed off after throwing away the garbage into the garbage. My garbage probably would have tasted better. Find another place, there is no Delight from Hunan Delight.

So far, my favorite place to get egg rolls, and crab Rangoon. The people are super friendly and you get a lot of food for not a ton of money. Parking is a bit tricky but well worth the hassle. Highly recommend shrimp chow mein.

Every once in a while you have a taste for that good ole' Chinese carry out type of food. You don't want anything fancy. You just want some chicken wings with mumbo sauce, egg rolls, steamed dumplings, shrimp fried rice, etc.When you're feeling like that, check out Hunan Delight. There's nothing fancy about it, but the food is plentiful, delicious and reasonably priced. On my latest visit, I ordered egg rolls, beef lo mein with broccoli, snow peas and carrots and steamed dumplings. Everything was ready within 10 minutes. It was hot, tasty and satisfied my craving.

I take out from here once a week. Sometimes just lunch for me. Other times a big order for 6 or 8. The food is fast and fresh. Prices are great. Everyone is always pleased with the food.

I love this place like for Chinese New Year's or if you want Asian Chinese food I would totally go to Hunan Delight. Their food is so delicious and yummy . They have a big menu which is ok but I love the food.

I am an army brat. I have eaten all kinds of food around the world.I have been ordering from hunan delight in Bowie since the pandemic*the food is ALWAYS hot, fresh and SO DELICIOUS.They have NEVER missed special requests and always surprise me.I highly recommend this restaurant!

Great fried dumplings. The egg rolls were good. The general tso was spicy and not too gloppy

Food is delicious . I do recommend for a good Chinese meal. My husband and I go often.
