House of Hunan

I hate to rip into a business, but as one of the few places in my area that delivers, I've given House of Hunan WAY more chances than they deserve. Usually go for the Gen. Tso's chicken, tonight I went for Lamb with spring onion. This plate cost $21.50, and it was the saddest crap heap I think I've ever seen, outside of fast food restaurants - like no joke, it was watery sautéed onions with "lamb" (it wasn't lamb) sprinkled in, sitting in a brown mop water-like broth....or, sauce, I think? Anyways, I'm moving on to the next Chinese place who just might have kitchen with people who can cook like they actually give a shit. Oh, and the hapless delivery guy is such a dick. He knocks on your door and leaves it on the ground while you come to answer the door, after already having been tipped - lesson learned: don't give a delivery tip over the phone. But by and large: to hell with this place.

I was very disappointed with the 2 meals I ordered. The fried rice was lame...it was crunchy with no carrots, onions or pork. And the egg Foo Young was greasy. It used to be a good place for lunch but it has gone Downhill. I will not be going back anytime soon ​​​

My in-laws took me here because they said that this was the best Chinese restaurant they have ever gone in Maryland. I tried Chinese food in Virginia where I live, and honestly I did not feel good at all. So I was a little hesitant to try this one, but I'm glad I did.The crispy duck was pretty good! It's not the way I'm used to having it back in Hawaii, but it really was crispy, and I'm glad they included the sauce with it. I think this was my favorite item out of everything that I had. I also had the pork fried rice and the sweet and sour pork. I personally wasn't a fan of the sweet and sour pork. It seemed like they had it battered and you don't really taste any pork in it. The batter was too much and not tasty at all. I wouldn't get it again.The pork fried rice was really good though. I could taste more of the pork in it, and I think that the flavoring was pretty good from what I've had before. If I were to go back to this restaurant, I would only get the crispy duck and the pork fried rice.

We went here because I'm a vegan and I heard that they have vegetarian meat. They have lots of vegetarian beef and chicken options. I opted for the "beef" with veggies and it did not disappoint. It was very tasty and not drenched in sauce. My husband is not vegan and he didn't particularly like his dish, which was honey chicken. He expected it to be sauteed but it was breaded and probably deep fried. The vegetarian dumplings were hard at the ends and that part wasn't edible, but I will be back to try other vegetarian meat dishes!

Worst chinese food I've eaten in a long time. Should've saw the sign, walked in there at 7pm and only one other customer eating. I had to ask if they were open.My poor 10 y.o. daughter ordered the chicken lo mien, at the bottom of her plate was a puddle of soy sauce. Had to dig around for strips and scraps of chicken. Basically it was soy sauce and spaghetti noodles.My crispy prawn with walnut was also gross. Small scrawny shrimp with thick and heavy batter to make the shrimp look large. Came with some kind of red sauce which was wierd. Normally this dish comes with the sweet creamy white sauce (honey and mayo) on shrimp over steamed broccolis. Should've went to Panera bread instead, that was our original plan. Waste of my money that I can't get back.Next time, go to Panda Express, you get more food, better food for half what I paid.

I know why they have three stars. Should be less. The only thing saving this from being a 1 is the ribs were OK. This is supposed to be beef and green onion..... GREEN ONION...I ate all the beef that was in this dish, maybe 2-3oz. What is left is about 1lb of yellow onion. The sauce was reasonable. Search a pic of beef and green onion.. more beef, less onion and ACTUAL green onion.

As one other review said, you get what you pay for. We walked in one day as our usual place was closed. They are kind of pricy but being in the area where it's at, I'm not surprised as they have to pay more rent. The food was great, portion sizes good, packaged nicely and all that. Would def return.

My husband and I went to this restaurant and ordered two meals to go after shopping at the nearby Giant grocery store. We ordered a large Beef and Broccoli and Shrimp Egg Foo Young. The Beef and Broccoli dish had more broccoli than the very thin slices of beef and the Shrimp Egg Foo Young had no flavor, was chewy, and the gravy had a floury taste. My husband ate a small portion of the Egg Foo Young and disposed the remainder. He said this is the worst tasting Egg Foo Young he had ever ate We are truly disappointed in both meals that totaled $37.31.

We ordered shrimp and snow peas. The shrimp was mush (inedible), there was no sauce, and the "snow peas" was a bowl of canned "green peas". Charged $17 for this!!!! See photo.

Good standard American-Chinese fare, friendly staff. Hot and sour soup is a standout.
