I've recently become such a fan of Hex that I've started bringing my friends so they can see all they have to offer.First of all, being a plant mom myself, I absolutely love how they decorated the store with an array of plants. And they are all so pretty. A modern approach to the decor with plenty of plants makes for such an inviting space. You can pop a squat at the bar for a snack or meal, have a glass of natural wine and beer, or sample some of their kombuchas with a flight. They even offer brine shots. Which is exactly what it's called. The brine from their fermented products. I tried their food for the first time, and I thoroughly enjoyed my meal. Hex's menu has a clean and healthy vibe with a twist on the dishes that are flavorful. I got the bratwurst special, and I must say I was shocked how much I enjoyed the bratwurst since I don't typically care for them. The brand of sausage they use is definitely good quality. And I can't forget to mention how much I love their kombuchas. After you've had some gut healthy food and beverages you can stroll over and take a gander at all the local products they offer. From their own fermented products to meats, veggies, sauces, spices, pet friendly items, and much more. With so many items to choose from, you'll definitely have to make another trip.

I've been a big fan of HEX for a while now, ever since I tried their kombucha at a Ceremony Coffee Roasters location ages ago. Since then, I've become slightly addicted to HEX's miso kimchi. I know it's not a typical Korean-style kimchi but it has become one of my favorite staple fridge items thanks to it's spicy, funky flavor. For anyone who has food allergies or sensitivities, rest assured that the miso kimchi is both soy free and gluten free. That's because the miso is chickpea based. I'm not sure how they do it but damn, is it good. The store itself is super cute with a full bar and a covered back patio. They have a food menu so you can grab a bite to eat or even sip on a cocktail. The rest of the store has large fridges and shelves stocked full of not just HEX goodies, but also plenty of other locally sourced items. There's beer, wine, produce, meat, snacks, bath items - you name it. This is such a good spot to go if you're looking for a gift, or trying to bring something to a housewarming party, or just want to peruse for a little while. My mom and I stopped by recently and ended up grabbing quite a few things from the store. We were even allowed to taste a few samples of the HEX products like the pickled beets and the tumeric kimchi. They provide free samples of any HEX stuff you want to try in the tasting room. I have to say, the miso kimchi continues to be my favorite.I definitely want to come back for lunch and sit on their back patio on a nice day. They also have a small but free parking lot in the back!

This local food market, gathering place, and tasting room/bar-restaurant is my favorite place to visit. Here you can enjoy delicious and healthy food, great people and the drinks are delicious and use their kombucha and other fermented beverages- no guilt! It's a terrific community gathering place with parking in back and a lovely outdoor eating area during the warm weather months. Cool decor inside, can't say enough about HEX- highly recommended!!'

You've seen Hex products around town, at farmers markets and supermarkets - they make all things fermented, kombucha, kimchi, pickles, etc. But did you know they are a local Baltimore company with headquarters in the city and are run by people who need out on food? The Hex Superette has a little bit of everything you want. It's has a bar with inventive cocktails and a food menu featuring creative ways to use their ingredients, but they also have a community space for classes, a carefully curated supermarket, and a production facility. The products in the market are super fresh and the producers are personally known by the owners. The egg guy came buy the day we were there and apologized that his hens hadn't laid as many eggs that week because of the weather. Super fresh. I left with pistachio milk, brown and blue eggs, and a bag of frozen scallops. I'm putting this market in my monthly rotation for specialty items, kombucha, and local protein. You've got to visit this place. Seriously.

This place was so cool.First, there's the Hex Ferments portion of things. They have a bar/tasting room, with various drinks on tap and available to be served as well as some small bites. I was hoping for all kombucha (that's my jam) but they have a lot of variety of items (only one or two kombuchas available on tap). I had my kids along and there was a bit of a crowd so I didn't spend much time on the tasting room side of things. The second portion of Hex Superette is the "grocer" side. Here you can purchase Hex Ferments products like giant bottles of kombucha, containers of kimchi, fermented sauces and even scobys for the home brewer. The Superette also features vegetables and cold items from local farms and vendors. I noticed canned Thread Roasters Coffee amongst the items for sale. The third, and final, portion of the Superette is the "pop up" portion. I'm under the impression that this part of the shop will rotate. Thru the holidays they are featuring Made in Baltimore. This means there are items on sale from over 50 local vendors. I noticed bags of coffee from local roasters, vegan chocolate, soaps, hand crafted items and paper goods amongst the Made in Baltimore portion. We walked out of Hex Superette with one of their kombuchas, two apples and vegan chocolate covered espresso beans. The price was not cheap but, to keep things local and fresh, sometimes you have to pay a bit more. If you are into buying local, fermented foods and a cool vibe, might I suggest checking out Hex Superette.

I know you're wondering - what the hell is HEX Superette? Is it a store? A bar? A restaurant? It's all three! Let's start with the shop: you can get local gifts, clothes, and food at the retail portion of the building. They're primarily filled up with local brands like Liberty Farms and B'More pasta. Lots of tinned fish, wine, and fancy cheeses. They also sell all of their HEX fermented items. Next up is the restaurant offerings: they have light snacks and some heavier options. I got the vegan cheese board (insane), a kimchi flight, and the deviled eggs. They also have items like sausages, burgers, a carnivore cheese board, and grilled cheese. Everything was delicious with layers of flavors. The bread was also made in house! I'm not a big drinker, but the drinks were delicious from what I sipped off from my friends. The staff here were SUPER friendly, knowledgeable, and kind. They will answer every and any question you have and definitely cultivate a cute experience. You can have a "tasting" of any of their fermented items before you buy them. They also have cute outdoor seating. This is a great spot to catch up with an old friend over a drink, a good spot for a third or fourth date, or maybe even a quiet spot to get some work done!

WOW!! First time at HEX and I am truly blown away.. the food, vibes, and service were 100/10!! The kimcheese was easily the best grilled cheese I've ever had, the kimchi pairs perfectly and the flavor is OUTSTANDING. And don't get me started on the house made focaccia with its billowy soft inside and panini pressed crusty goodness on the outside--drooling as I type. I also had the pb&j miso cookie, sooo good!! Again, it was easily the best cookie I've ever had. The miso offered a subtle, savory almost toffee like flavor when combined with the pb&j. I am officially obsessed with HEX Superette and cannot wait to be back to try all the other delectable items!!! Thank you all for the quality food and service!!

My now-husband and I have enjoyed HEX products for many years, and when we visited the Superette, we were thrilled by the creative, exciting, and high-quality foods the business showcases. We knew we wanted HEX to be part of our wedding day! We reached out to have them cater beverages and snacks that we enjoyed with our family after a courthouse ceremony. Martha worked with us to build a menu that met all our various dietary constraints and was absolutely delicious! Our families LOVED having kombucha to sample and the nibbles were just what we needed to keep us full and happy until cocktail hour. :) Thank you HEX for helping set the tone for a beautiful day! I recommend HEX Superette for the highest quality catering and fabulous customer service.

This place is beautiful and has a lovely selection of yummy treats. Their kimchi grilled cheese is super delish and I love getting that for takeout instead of other drive through options. I'm a huge fan of their curated natural wine selection too. Staff is very knowledgeable, helpful, and joyful.
