Hana Japanese Cuisine

We got takeout for the first time, and DD picked up so I can't say much except what she told me: they were slammed and only had one server with a restaurant full of people + lots of takeout orders.The place itself is in a shopping center with ample free parking.I had the dinner bento box with teriyaki chicken and it was a LOT of food for $19.95! Besides the chicken, there were udon noodles with some broccoli and carrots (yaki udon), 6 bite-sized California rolls, three fried shumai, and about 1/2 breast of teriyaki chicken. Plus a salad and cup of miso.Just want to say, all of the ingredients were fresh and the veggies were crisp-tender, yum. I generally avoid chicken breast dishes because they tend to be too dry. This was borderline for me. Very tasty teriyaki sauce, etc., but the strips of chicken were dry to being almost inedible for me. I'm picky that way ;)My DGD enjoyed her ramen and DD liked the Pink Lady roll. Out the door with tip, just over $57 and that's a bit ouchy for me but we all have leftovers, so it works out to $28 per meal, I guess that's not bad. I would like to try some other menu items, and DD said she wants to take DGD there for lunch sometime. So it seems we will be back.

I love how quiet this place is. I am a repeat customer for that reason. I live for the atmosphere as there's so much woodwork. Tonight I had the tempura and some nigiri sushi (tuna, yellowtail and shrimp). This is one of the few places that has the correct tasting tempura sauce. The shrimp nigiri was so sweet and fresh. I also enjoyed my waitress, as she was a bit quirky but also sweet. I enjoyed a lovely green tea and the clear soup was so amazing and authentic tasting. I accompanied the first half of my meal with a lovely bottle of sake and finished with a yellowtail scallion roll. Overall it was a great solo date dinner and I'm always going to come back.

Went here for carry out and got sushi. They rushed my transaction and when I ate my sushi, it tasted so fishy. It was not fresh.

Absolutely delicious. Like delicious enough for an itadakimasu and all I'd done was smell the miso. Everything was FRESH, like fresh fresh. I ordered the Chicken Teriyaki Bento and LET ME TELL YOU it was all absolutely delicious. Like ridiculously delicious. An absolutely delicious chicken cutlet with what I assume is house teriyaki sauce because it was delicate and not artificial tasting. Never had Yaki Udon and it was yummy enough that I'd definitely eat that on its own. I would live off of the miso if I could. It was nice and hot, fresh and the flavour subarashii. The picture provided is not representative because I was busy being a glutton upon realising how delicious my meal was turning out to be. All in all it's a very respectable restaurant with humble vibes and delicious food. It's only my first visit, it definitely won't be my last.

Ordered some sushi to go during a lunch craving, and I am so glad I found this place! I ordered the three-roll lunch deal, and was very pleased with the sushi! I ordered a tuna roll, salmon roll and a salmon avocado roll. I only ordered three different rolls because I couldn't figure out how to add three salmon rolls in the online ordering for the lunch special (I love salmon sushi!), but I wasn't disappointed with any of the three rolls. The fish was fresh and tasty, and I love that they don't put too much rice in their sushi to fill it out. Even the inside-out salmon avocado wasn't overly drenched in rice. So delicious.The wonderful sushi inspired me to come back a few times now. The inside is a quiet, unassuming atmosphere and the service is quick and attentive. Came back with a friend, and we ordered the sushi and sashimi for two. Definitely a good deal, and the sushi was delicious once again. Every time I've come I am happy with what I get. Honestly I prefer their simple sushi and plain rolls like the salmon roll over any of the special rolls. Had a friend even order the chicken teriyaki, and it was beautiful. Tried a piece of the chicken, super delicious. I can't not order sushi, but if you have someone that isn't a sushi lover, the rest of the menu also looks fantastic. To-go or dine-in, this place is a win.

First, I will say the restaurant is pretty cool. Hana is the only sushi restaurant in the Odenton area. It has regular seating and a Japanese style seating area where you take your shoes off and sit on the ground at a low table. The host was nice and greeted us when we came in to pickup our order. The food... prices are what you would expect from a sushi spot. I got the 3 roll dinner combo, which is 1 special roll and 2 regular rolls (passion roll, spicy tuna roll and shrimp tempura roll). Also ordered the tuna tataki and the pho noodle soup.The tuna tataki was the star of the order! Great tasting a was packaged nicely. The sushi is "meh". The sushi ordered, Ive had it at other sushi restaurants and those were way better in presentation and taste. Spicy tuna roll had a weird fishy taste, which usually indicates it's not fresh. I also noticed they added iceberg lettuce in the shrimp tempura roll. The pho noodle soup... nah, idk why I even ordered that. Broth was good but it wasn't a pho broth at all. The rice noodles wasn't the right thinness and they added lettuce and white onions that weren't even thinly sliced. Overall, it was a waste of money, but now I know. Some people may like the restaurant and I am not deterring anyone from eating at Hana's. But for a authentic Japanese spot, one would assume it has great sushi at the very least. Lacking a passion and taste, cutting corners on creating something they specialize in.

Delicious Sushi! They have several options ranging from nigiri to rolls to sashimi. You can get shrimp tempura, octopus, and others.It's good quality sushi and the variety really sets this place apart. I'm certain it's the best sushi in town!

This is the first time I have left a review for a restaurant before, and that is because the food served here was subpar at best. My friend's ramen was surprisingly bland and tasteless. Yet, the chicken fried rice that I ordered was way too salty. It is a wonder it came from the same kitchen! The server conveniently forgot to mention that drink refills cost the same amount as the initial drink, and disappeared often throughout the entire time we were eating although we were the only guests there. The sushi was also very subpar even though that was the main reason we came here. I had to ask for a to-go box not because I was full, but I felt that it would be a waste of money for me not to, especially considering the high prices for low quality of food. Right after my friend got stomach poisoning. The only thing I would recommend here is the $4 Pepsi...I recommend anyone in Odenton to go to Pho5Up instead. Although it does not serve sushi, the pho & appetizers they serve are much more better than the bland and/or salty food you will receive when you order at Hana Japanese cuisine.

Today was very busy. Ordered over the phone said it would be 30 mins. Got there 35 mins after I placed my order and they said it'll be 30 more minutes ! After I explained I already had to wait that long waitress "expedited" my meal (Thank you !!) and had to wait 15 mins after that which was fine with me . My food was barely warm (I live 5 mins away) and my rolls were thrown in their containers lol .Usually a better experience but they were just busy tonight.

I have only ordered hibachi to go. However for a to go order it is a great portion that could leave you leftovers. It definitely has the authentic hibachi taste.
