I placed an order on DoorDash after reading the reviews and seeing an ad for this restaurant on social media. I ordered the jerk chicken with cabbage, rice and peas, and a side of plantains. My order was delivered promptly through Door Dash which was a nice surprise. When I opened the order the plantains where altogether missing and the food was not hot, not even like lukewarm. I attempted to warm the food up and the chicken was dry and the sides were flavorless. I'm not sure if I caught them on a bad day but the food was not worth the money.

i ordered via UberEats. First, even with priority delivery the wait time was 45mins and my food arrived cold. I Which sucks bc I ordered out bc my microwave is out of order. i can tell tell the plate sat in the bag for awhile before being picked up. Restaurant can benefit from updating its estimated wait times. Anyway, back to the food. The portions were small for the price... nothing near as plentiful as the photos suggests. For example, my side was the jerk alfredo pasta... It didn't even fill the side compartment in the carryout container I literally finished in two forkfuls--disappointing. My other side was the stir-fried cabbage-- the cabbage was hard and undercooked. HOWEVER, for the entree, star of the plate... the main event, I ordered the Maxfiekd Ave Jerk Pork. It was hands THE BEST jerk pork I've had in the dmv and I've been living here for 9 years. It was tantalizing with a depth of flavor that danced on my palate. It was succulent and juicy, but still in tack and not falling apart due to being overcooked. The sweet habanero sauce I ordered on the side elevated the pork even more. This was my first-time ordering from Halfway Tree but the jerk pork alone will keep me as a repeat customer. Sorry, no photo this time!

If you want the taste of authentic Jamaican food for a very reasonable price, Halfway Tree is the place for you. Everything I order is always delicious.

My go to spot for Jamaican in DC. The salmon is full of flavor and seasoned just right. I love the veggies, not overcooked, still crisp. Great vegetarian options as well. The jerk chicken is delicious as well. Great food, great portions.

We went to the one at 1100 Florida NW. The restaurant smells like it has a Gas leak, they should really check that out for safety reasons. The food was not fresh, definitely made a couple of days before our order. Not sure about how it was reheated but it was served tepid at best. The plantains and jerk chicken were hard and barely edible. My husband is Jamaican and wanted to love this place, but we'll cross this one off the list.
