GB's Caribbean Cuisine

I ordered my meal through DoorDash and picked it up. When I arrived she let me know they were just waiting for my coco bread and Pattie to be done. Which I didn't mind and I took a seat. It's pretty small on the inside, about 4 small tables but the atmosphere is calm and home like. I ordered the curry goat with Mac and cheese and cabbage. I also ordered coco bread and a beef pattie. The pattie was flaky and the beef was seasoned well. I enjoyed it. The coco bread was soft and dense. Very good. The goat was tender and the curry was nice and thick. I loved how I actually received a lot of meat and not just a lot of bones. The curry was so good. Very authentic!! The Mac and cheese was also surprisingly good as well. It was NOT macaroni pie! It was seasoned well and a good amount of cheese although I don't think much sharp cheddar was used. Regardless, I liked it!! The cabbage was seasoned down!!! No doubt about that I just prefer mine to have a little more crunch to it. It was a little too soft for my liking but it was still very good!! I would absolutely eat here again. I think I found my new Jamaican spot and I'm glad it's on my side of town!! Try it out for yourself!

I ordered take-out from GB's and it was not only affordable, but hit the spot. The Jamaican Jerk Chicken (Dark Meat) comes with two sides. I got the Coconut Rice and Peas & the Mac and Cheese for $11.90. The jerk chicken was more on the sweet side, but as I kept eating I did start to taste a slight kick. The Oxtail Roti for $13.60 was delicious and so tender. It came with about 5 oxtail pieces & definitely is a must try. The Curried Goat for $11.90 was a bit of a disappointment. It lacked any spices and was flat in flavor. They seemed packed and busy with orders when I arrived to pick mine up. They also have a $7.99 chicken and rice special with a surprise side.

The perfect serving for 1! I ordered this platter from a food sustainability app called TooGoodToGo to test it out and I was pleased. The jerk seasoning was savory and spicy. The rice was so fluffy I vacuumed it! When asked for sauce, I yelled "Yes please!" The chef happily obliged. This nook off Edmondson Avenue will definitely be a go-to spot as the fall brings the love of Caribbean comfort food!

I had the jerk chicken, rice& peas, mac n cheese, beef and chicken curry patty and they all were amazing. Good portions, reasonable prices and friendly staff. Definitely will be coming back again.
