We had fried shrimp, flounder, BBQ chicken, and wings. The BBQ chicken was meh (simply covered in a bunch of sauce). The shrimp and flounder were ok. One of my six wings was really raw in the middle. I told the hostess and she acknowledged it, but did not do anything to remedy the situation. It would also be nice to have salt and pepper on the table for our baked potato. Our server kind of disappeared during the main part of our meal. Oh, well. We have been here many times. This was not one of the best ones, obviously.

It's always the best wen u want something out to eat an I have ate from there my whole life grew up in the area it is one of my favorite places to go to

Great steak and cheese. They use prime rib.The old bay wings with honey are great as well.

Make sure you make a reservation if you want to come to Gateway, we made one for 5:15 our table was ready when we arrived at 5. While we were waiting for our food many other people were trying to get a table and were turned around for no reservations even though they had plenty of tables empty. We left at 5:45 and there were groups of people coming in for 6pm reservation. They do try to get the food out fast and it has been fresh and very good but there's always those tables that just sit around and talk. If you not eating get up and let someone else be able to eat and the restaurant and waitresses can make more money. It's lint and Friday night so the wife and I got the fried shrimp they are a goto because they are very good. They don't have a lit of breading and the coleslaw and fries are very good, you can get any other side you would like. They have scalloped potatoes sweet potato casserole a side salad beats fries backed potato and a few other.

We had 6 people in our group.,Everyone had something different . We we're all very satisfied with the service, the food and atmosphere. We we're only in the area for the weekend so we went to other places on different nights. This was all of our favorite places. We will be back. And we recommend that everyone try them out.they really did a great job.

6//11/2021 update.First time here for lunch and first time eating in the bar.Lunch menu is different than dinner menu but still varied. Today the special was snakehead bites; didn't try them.We did get the cheesesteak platter, the shrimp basket and the burger. All of it was very good and reasonably priced. Food was also prepared and plated pretty rapidly.Service was fast and friendly.

Visited The Gateway on Wednesday, July 26. Food was terrific, and when the bill came the price left me astounded -- very modest price for excellent food and wonderful service. Spoke with the owner-operator, who is wonderfully warm and friendly. This restaurant really cares about its patrons, and provides a very personal touch. It is clearly a favorite with local neighbors.Normally, I am very picky about posting a five-star review. This establishment wins it because it won my heart as well as providing a wonderful quality-price balance. I will definitely be going back.My meal was the oysters casino (I was going to get fried oysters but they were not available because the proprietor had not been sufficiently happy with the size and quality of the fryers from her supplier and sent them back), along with a wonderful tangy-sweet cucumber salad and their signature sweet potato casserole. My dinner companion had a beautiful and filling chicken chef salad. I don't usually order dessert, but I was impressed enough to order the bourbon pecan pie, which I got a la mode (another almost-never-do): it was warm, scrumptuous ,and came with two dollops of ice cream plus whipped cream.This restaurant is a gem. Not much atmosphere, but the rest more than makes up the difference. If you're in Calvert, check it out!

The food is delicious ! We always do Friday night takeout and they mess up the order occasionally but we don't even care because the food is so good!!

Food is great and service is quick and friendly. It's just a little hole in the wall restaurant but definitely a family friendly place to eat.

Okay so normally I rate 5 stars for places with outstanding food or services. However this little whole in the wall really impressed me. It seriously looks like it could be anything from the outside. Once you walk in... still unsure of the place.But the service and quality of food was fantastic- especially when you take a look at the bill! This is the kind of place you want to go for a good time and comfort seafood.Enjoy.
