First time ever having Senegalese food. I drove over 1 hour to get there. I believe in traveling for food. I had lamb maffe, ginger lemonade, and everything was hot even when I arrived home (1 hour later)..now that is crazy. I joke that there is hot coals in the food. Every time I go to Baltimore, I make sure I stop there- A MUST. I keep my stomach empty on purpose. BTW... I forget to put the photos up because I can't stop eating the food long enough to put one up!:(It's my goal to have dinner there one day at the actual restaurant. If the carry out is good, I know the restaurant is amazing.

We ordered the Peanut Butter Lamb Stew. This brings the savory and creamy elements of peanuts to the funky game flavor of lamb in a yellow curry-like sauce. And the combination works. The lamb wasn't super super tender or amazing, but that protein blends into the tastes of the sauce. The rice was non-memorable. Just plain white rice. This is a tasty dish, but I don't think it warrants paying $22+.

Excellent service! I called in advance to make a reservation, but was told I didn't need one. When we arrive for dinner the dining room was closed but the carry-out area was open so we walked in. I told the staff member that we were there for dinner and thought the dining room was open. The owner proceeded to come from the kitchen to open the dining room for us. They prepared a delicious meal for us and we all had their freshly made cold pressed juices. Best juices we've had! We'll definitely go back to sample some of the other menu options.

Had lots of expectations after this place was recommended by a colleague. However the pintade braise (fowl) was over fried and super dry; the mechoui (lamb shank) was also dry and looked like someone had nibbled on it. The fatayas (kind of like an empanada) was nice but they overcharged me from the menu price. And finally, when the guy brings the credit card machine to charge my card, there's no check or itemization. Just a number and an option to add a tip. Figuring the amount was high, I check the machine for details of the order. That's when I realized that they had over charged me for the fatayas and already included a 15% service charge for two people. For a $$$ place there's zero ambience and the food just sucks. Go check out Chaps grilled chicken instead - that's just awesome and while you are there also get the famous pit beef sandwich.

I had the pleasure of dining at Nailah's Kitchen for the first time recently. We were the first one's there, which is why the inside looks empty...but it wasn't empty for long. The food was fantastic and the service was just as good. Mohamed took great care to make sure we understood and ultimately appreciated the nuances of the menu. We tried 3 different dishes and from the first bites, couldn't wait to come back for a second time.

This place makes delicious food in a super friendly and welcoming atmosphere. My wife and I were in Baltimore from out of town, visiting my daughter and her BF, who, when I offered to take them anywhere for dinner, unanimously chose Nailah's Fresh Out The Kitchen. My wife and I were game to try Senegalese cuisine, so we headed out for dinner. The four of us arrived and even though the dining room was closed, the owner opened it just for us and treated us with such warmth, hospitality, and generosity. We started out by sharing a platter of mixed beef and tuna fatayas, which were crispy, flaky, savory, and delicious. An order usually comes with three fatayas, but the owner tossed in a couple of additional ones so that everyone could partake and try both varieties. I could have eaten them all myself, but I grudgingly shared with my dinner guests. Our entrees included the lamb maffe, the lamb shawarma, the grilled salmon, and grilled shrimp skewers, and we also shared an order of plantains. Everything was fresh and tasty. Can't wait to visit Baltimore again so that I can enjoy another wonderful meal at Nailah's.
