Founders Tavern & Grill

This is a nice local restaurant located in front of a mall. I wish I could give a more positive review. While the food was nicely presented, it ultimately disappointed. Although the ingredients were of high quality, our choices--the Founder Burger and the chicken sandwich--were bland and uninspired. In a competitive dining scene along Ritchie Highway, Founders needs to improve.

Service for a table of 12 should have a waitress check often if everyone's needs are met, ie drink refills. Needs improvement there. Waitress was nice, meals came within reasonable time. I ordered the Tavern Smash burger with cheese and med well. Burger was definitely over cooked but not horrible, French fries were not hot. After food was served no waitress to follow up with any problems. When she finally came my drink needed a refill and she took my plater back to the kitchen when I asked for hot fries. Oh I got hot fries......it was my same fries thrown into the deep fryer and returned. I saw on FF i partially ate and realized they were cold. Glad tip was all ready included with the bill however, how can you challenge a lesser tip without embarrassing yourself? Oh yeah $2 up charge for a piece of cheese! Yikes!

Came here based off a recommendation a few weeks ago. My experience was good. We walked in and got seated right away. On a beautiful fall day, the place was busy but not overwhelming. Many chose to sit outside. We sat inside. Service by Sarah was good. We shared a few apps. Everything was tasty! I enjoyed the cosmo cocktail. I noticed they have an extensive whiskey selection. I will be back soon!

I have been to Founders a few times now and have enjoyed the service, food, and drinks here!Out on errands and need to fuel up, this is a go to for sure as service is prompt and friendly without compromise to the quality of the food. I can't get enough of the spring chicken sandwich. Oh, and the fries here... liken the replica of Thrasher's in OC, no?! And the drinks?! I've not had one that wasn't strong!Glad this is an option whenever I'm in the area and a halfway point for friends and I. Lunch or dinner, Founders is fantastic!

I really enjoyed my experience at this restaurant. The interior was clean, stylishly decorated, and had a cozy, welcoming atmosphere. While the lighting was slightly dim, it added a warm ambiance, especially with the candles on each table. The outdoor patio was also charming. I ordered the fried chicken, which was perfectly crispy and absolutely delicious. The service was excellent, and the prices were very reasonable. After driving past this place for years, I finally decided to give it a try, and I'm so glad I did. I'll definitely be returning!

Founders is conveniently located along Ritchie Hwy in "The Dena". Parking is plentiful. Upon entry, we were greeted and seating immediately. Decor is minimal but it serves its purpose. After perusing the menu, I decided on Chesapeake boneless wings and a Garden Pesto Pizza. A Tropical Bourbon Smash was my cocktail of choice. Food arrived piping hot and the cocktail was ice cold, which was perfect! Absolutely no complaints. I'll be back. If you're in the area, definitely add Founders to your list!

This restaurant was once our "go to" neighborhood place for quaint ambiance, great wings, comfort food, and well-made cocktails. While the server was pleasant and attentive and the fried chicken was cooked to perfection, it was bland to the taste and the rigatoni noodles took over my shrimp scampi dish. It didn't even help to add extra lemon sauce. I ordered a specialty drink that was advertised with peach but it didn't taste peachy - not even an undertone. The worst part was that it was my birthday and I was not in the mood for putting a complimentary candle on any of the deserts. I'm not sure if they are under new management, have new cooks, are just resting on their early laurels, or it was just a bad night.

Food was excellent! I would definitely recommend. We had the crab dip, chicken and sausage pasta, bbq yardbird sandwich, shrimp tacos and boneless wings. Michelle was our server and she was fantastic!

We had somewhat of a mixed experience here. Service was efficient but felt rushed-even though we were the only ones there. (perhaps the waiter was in a hurry with other duties??) The Cream of Crab soup was delicious. The Fried Chicken was the best we've had in this area and is truly a destination food. The mashed potatoes-although whipped-were very good. The glazed carrots were also good and cooked just right to tender but not mushy. (and I really appreciated how they were cut)Unfortunately, the pizza was a disappointment with a soggy crus, as was the open roast beef sandwich which was thin gnarly meat served over limp fries with thin, rather tasteless gravy.We will be back, though. Even though it is a far drive for us, the chicken alone will be calling to us again soon...

Amazing service at the bar for lunch. Simply had a drink and the cheesy bread, but both were awesome. The service on a Wednesday afternoon was superb and I will be back for a heartier meal!
