I used to love going to Fish-King for a morning breakfast sandwich, but the change in ownership/management has kept me away. While the upgraded technology and card system were a plus, the cleanliness of the cooks was concerning. LSS: my sandwich was made incorrectly and when I brought it back in for them to remake, the cook coughed directly into the new eggs they were scrambling. I immediately asked for a refund and haven't been back since. Now if those conditions improve, I'll happily return as they really did breakfast right with sizeable portions at fair prices.

Fish-King is a mom and pop, family-run business that offers breakfast and lunch. It's a smaller restaurant so only takeout is available. I stopped by for the first time to try them out for breakfast and was highly pleased with the food. You can call ahead and place an order but because it was my first time I went in to order. There was a bit of a line when I arrived but the service was fairly quick so I didn't wait too long. For food, I tried the veggie omelet, which comes with mushroom, green pepper, onion, tomatoes and cheese (no onion or tomato for me), toast, and grits. Though a fairly simple meal, it was cooked to perfection -- just the right amount of toppings and seasoning. My friend tried the bacon, egg, and cheese on croissant and it came with grape jelly on it. Me mentioned that he wish they hadn't added the grape jelly. Overall, I would certainly return for breakfast or to even try them out for lunch. If you're over on or near Rhode Island Ave, be sure to stop by to support this small business!

Had been wanting to come by for a long time, but their hours aren't very extensive. Happened to be walking home before lunch and got the chance to swing by. Don't be fooled by the name, they serve much more than fish!I got the whiting platter and it was made to order. After tax it came out to be $10.99, which was such an awesome deal On weekends they don't have the full sides menu, and my options were either fries, home fries, potato salad, grits, or eggs. It would've been nice to get vegetables, but that's not a deal breaker for me. The fish was super fresh and the oil it was fried in didn't taste old. I also got 3 big pieces, which was a lot! Potato salad is like a korean potato salad, so no large potato chunks, less tangy, and a little more sweet--I dig it! The home fries were thinner potato pieces, not the cubed potatoes you get some times. Tartar sauce is also sweeter, but I enjoyed it. I think I could've shared this and would have been satisfied ha haThey have a variety of breakfast items from French toast, pancakes, breakfast sandwiches, and even wraps. Everything here is extremely reasonably priced and I definitely plan on coming back, just wish they were open for dinner!

I am OBSESSED. This is the closest thing I've seen in DC that reminds me of a New York Bodega. I passed by this on the street and stopped inside. The options from American Breakfast platters to sandwiches (egg sandwiches, wraps, subs, etc) really was a piece of nostalgia for me. And one of the best parts is... it's not overpriced. I got the Whiting fish sandwich. They are generous with their portions. I got 2 pieces of Whiting fish for 7 dollars (and they added a little bit more also) which was absolutely incredible. The tartar sauce was one of my favorites. I also got the potato salad and wolfed it down. I think I found my new spot to go to. Go and support this place. I believe it's a small-owned family business. The food is amazing and you will NOT regret it.

Went to this spot based on a co-worker stamp of approval. It did not disappoint for breakfast this morning, I enjoyed scrapple, eggs and grits with cheese! It was fast, tasty, and a good amount of food, scrapple cooked well like i like it and the toast with butter and jelly on it was a cherry on top! Can't wait to try something else.

Dude, totally unexpected. Absolutely delicious unbelievable high-quality out of this joint. I got a steak, egg and cheese omelette, and it was by far one of the best omelettes I've had in my life. I don't even know how he makes a profit with the amount of steak he gives you on this thing. The service is what it is. You can't predict things happen. Bad days good days whatever it's a carry out in DC. My guy looks pissed off all the time but he's really nice.
