They deleted my comment but kept the picture of that nasty food I posted so here's a re-upload.$25 For a large plate of NO! I ordered the oxtails with rice and peas and cabbage. Not only were they gross, it didn't have that authentic stew taste at all, it was so bland like a white person made it. The rice has a kick but no Jamaican flavor no coconut nothing, just a spice, that's it. They put so much sauce that it was annoying only because it was soupy and not very tasty. There wasn't any butter beans or authentic ingredients in the oxtails and again I got 5 pieces well 3 and 2 bullshit small bones for $25. I'm from NYC, a large is $19 or $20 and it's an actual LARGE. The Oxtails here do NOT have that brown stew taste like a real Caribbean made it, I'm legit fed up with the Caribbean places over east they make me miss NYC ODEEEE. The coco bread wasn't very ashy nor did it have a fresh slightly sweet taste...it tastes like a huge roll that was in the fridge maybe a day too long. I'm serious about food so if I can help people avoid ordering from here and getting their hopes up then trust me save that coin and pay attention to reviews. I'm new here so I hope one day I can try a place that's ACTUALLY HITTIN b/c right now I wish I was back home. I heard over west has better Caribbean food and I definitely can't wait to try it. I wish I could give less than one star. Oh and the cabbage was very hard and again FLAVORLESS. Flavorless Cuisine should be the name.b

I was headed to Northeast market for lunch. I noticed this new spot called Fireside Cuisine. A Caribbean restaurant. So I thought I would give it a try. I ordered the curry shrimp platter. Which is made when ordered. So the guy working told me it would be about 20 minutes. As I waited he gave me a sample of their Fire punch. Which he said is sold on Fridays. The punch defiantly had a punch to it.its a spiked punch. It was delicious. The curry shrimp platter came out in about 10-15 minutes. It looked tasty. However the curry was a little bland and the shrimp where small . It was ok. The plantain that came with it was very tasty.I'm going to give it another try. To get some of that fire punch and try something other then curry.

Fireside is a new restaurant just across the street from Northeast Market. It's a great addition to the neighborhood, featuring curry and jerk dishes, fried chicken, seafood, pork and beef ribs, and several types of soup. Drinks include sodas, fruit juices and ginger beer/ginger and sorrel. The portions are good, the space is very clean, and the owner is very friendly and interested in engaging with customers. They aren't going to have every single thing on the menu every day to start out, so if there's something you really want give them a call first to see if they have it ready. I got take out (there is not a lot of seating inside yet anyways), and had the goat curry with rice and peas, which also came with a steamed or stewed cabbage and some fried plantains. I'm a sucker for plantains for sure, so those were awesome. Cabbage was still a little crisp, not totally soggy, so I liked that too. The goat was tender and tasty, and cooked with carrots, and maybe some peas too but it was hard for me to tell. The rice and peas were also good and one thing I didn't expect was that it wasn't too salty. So I liked that too. None of it was spicy hot to me, so if that's what you expect maybe see if they can put some fire into it for you when you order. I'm definitely coming back - gotta try the goat head soup, red peas soup, and the kingfish for sure. Then I'm getting the jerk chicken, yum!

This was not worth ordering. I'm married to a Jamaican and this food was a pure waste of time. They couldn't spare even a little gravy? What they charge for oxtails and curry goat you would think they cared enough to put more seasoning on the meat. Marinate he food bed you cook it please. I so want my mom back but I'll settle for giving a review. My $43 went down the drain

Best Jamaican food on the East Side! Great curry, jerk and other Jamaican staples. They also have Jamaican style Beef Short Ribs, if you get there before they run out.

Its my second time eating from here. The first time a friend bought three of the all day meal deals- which are affordable and perfect portion if you want to enjoy it without overeating. The second time was today and I ordered the oxtail meal and the jerk pork meal for my friend. I ate mine and it was so good. My girl friend had the jerk pork meal and she loved how spicy it was and well-seasoned. The sides were rice and beans with cabbage(both tasted great )!Not sure why the reviews of the past were so bad yet they food now tastes great to me; hopefully the restaurant took those review's seriously and that's the results of it tasting good now. Give them another try and be the judge of the food now with the improvements.Inside the restaurant was quite and clean with a carry-out setting. Great Service

The food is horrible! Whoever made the so-called Rasta Chicken Pasta should stay home from work and don't return. It was horrible!

I ordered curry chicken with rice and chicken. The meat wasn't seasoned well enough and wasn't cooked all the way. They barely gave me vegetables but there was a bunch of white rice.
