Eastern Carryout

First meal of 2023 and it was awesome! I always have to test out three things when trying a Chinese takeout, the fried rice, chicken wings, and cheesesteak. We also tried the onion rings. I've also tried the fish sub and onion rings. Now you might be asking "Chris, two of your three isn't Chinese food." Ninja please, Chinese takeout is more American than apple pie and when have you gone to a Chinese take out that doesn't have subs and chicken wings in the DMV area. Let's also not forget mambo sauce. Now with my big three, the chicken wing has really good flavor and crispy. The plain fried rice was also good, not overly oily. My wife like the cheesesteak (get it fully loaded with tomatoes, onions, mayo, and what I assume is lettuce". It was pretty good but I felt the steak meat wasn't seasoned well enough but it was still pretty good. For the bonus, I felt the mambo sauce was a bit weak. Felt more like the sweat red sauce that goes with fried wantons than mambo sauce. Their onion rings were pretty good... atleast enough for my 4yo daughter to eat it all, so I'm not complaining. The fish sub while I felt was under seasoned came with three fish filets. Most usually gives two but I counted three. So more bang for my buck I guess. SCORE. Also, this was my first time coming in but while waiting for my food, I like to eavesdrop on conversation and I guess there was a regular that came in and had pleasant convo with the cashier about his grandchildren and new years happening, that after trying their food, I can see why customers comes back, and they seem really friendly. Weirdly enough, I want to comeback to try their crab cake sub, cause why not.

The food used to be so good here. I have been ordering here since early 2000's. Haven't eaten here in some years and decided to last night. My daughter got sesame chicken which she didn't eat. She tasted it and said the chicken was chewy and weird. I had egg foo young which was always one of my favorites here. I ate a 1/4 if it and just couldn't eat anymore. It was not good. The quality and taste was horrible and a complete waste of $23. Highly disappointed

They have served me reheated food items on a couple of occasions. I am not sure if the food was from an order that was not picked up or food from another day (God forbid!) but it was not freshly prepared. The food at this restaurant is not great but not too bad. It is food and, at least, it is affordable. To be fair, I usually only order a couple of items from the menu and they are usually okay. Not great but okay. I guess they thought I would not notice if they slipped me reheated items. I noticed. I will probably not patronize this restaurant again, unless I am really desperate.

Unfortunately Basil Pizza, my regular carryout/ delivery spot was closed on Sunday so I ended up ordering from Eastern. Simply put, the entire experience from the service to the food I ordered, was a huge disappointment. I ordered a chicken cheesesteak and small fries and was told delivery would take ~40 minutes. When I requested my total it was approximately $3-4 more than my math calculated so I asked for the price for each item and was told prices that were different than the menu pictures posted on Yelp. I then requested they send a menu with my food when delivered. About 40 minutes later my food arrived and I sat down to eat. Took my food out of the bag, no menu, silverware or napkins. Opened my fries, and while warm they were not crispy as I had requested. Next was my chicken cheesesteak that was drenched in so much mayonnaise it was inedible. The entire meal was a waste of $15.

Been ordering from this place last few months and the food has always been consistently good. I usually get a hunan chicken or chicken with broccoli with fried rice and hot and sour soup and my husband either gets general tsao chicken or a cheesesteak sub with extra mayo and side of fries. Food has been great every time and service has been friendly.

The older Chinese guy who answers the phone and work the cash register is not courteous at all and he's pretty damn mean. Me and my wife live in college park. We drive from over there to get your food, just because you guys have the best Chinese food in the area. Why do you treat us soooo poorly. We've been eating at your spot for years. We even ordered from you guys during covid, which I'm sure contributed to your place staying open during that tough time with covid, when folks were afraid to dine out and order food. The older Asian women that works there is humble and courteous and thankful that we come to you guys. The older Asian guys English is also very poor too, he often misunderstand what you are trying to order and gets mad and frustrated when you try and correct him. Why do you guys let this guy manage the phone , if his English sucks and he has no common courtesy. He likes our money but don't like us. Stop letting that mean bitter old jerk Asian man answer the darn phone, if he's going to be rude to his long time customers just because he's been here for years and can't understand basic English but can understand money. Stop treating us poorly when we give you guys our hard earned money for your food. I was Frontline during covid, Healthcare. I couldn't just not do my job and not act professional. ‍ Treat the ppl that buy food from your place better you mean old Asian Goat.

Called to check the status of an order that was called in at 9:37pm. No one answered the phones and multiple calls were made in between time and noon were answered. Place closed at 11pm and still no answer or update about food. It's 10:51pm. Customer service needs to do better

The store closes at 11, I had called at 9:37 to place a order and keep in mind I live 6 mins away , it has been over an hour and still no update on my order. terrible customer service

This carryout is superior to any other I've ever eaten at. I've been frequenting this place for decades, and it never misses a beat. Their consistency in freshness, quality of preparation, and variety is truly amazing. Other Chinese restaurants should take lessons form this place, especially when it comes to essentials such as wonton soup, which has every desirable quality from the aldente preparation of the generously-filled dumplings to the sliced roasted pork and green onion garnish.They have great noodle dishes, including chow foon and Singapore rice noodles. There's also great fried chicken and french fries, as well as a variety of other American selections like steak and cheese subs. Try their kung pao chicken, or the roast pork with mixed vegetables, or spare ribs.There's a couple of tables in the small waiting area, but the ambience is understandably flawed with the constant stream or clientele picking up orders. Regardless, I often eat there to savor the food immediately out of the kitchen.I highly recommend this restaurant. I'd give it six stars, if there was another star available.

I have been ordering from this place for over 20 years. This is 1 of the best Chinese restaurants around and the prices are always good. That is why their phones are always ringing throughout the day. I don't pay as much attention to services as this is a carry-out place. I order, I pickup, I get out.
