Dicks Halfway Inn

I stopped in as a goof due to its name and I felt like I stepped into a Time Machine. This reminded me of an old bar in the seventies where the air was thick with smoke, so thick you could cut it with a knife. The barmaid was about as nice as you can expect in a dive bar "what can I get you hon?" In a gravelly voice tinged with a hint of old bay. When in Rome...I requested an Ice Cold Natty Boh. "That's the only way they come hon" And so they do hon, so they do!!!

C'Mon C'Mon get the giggles out.... I'll wait.....Now, I have to rate this place at least 4 stars for name alone! Any place willing to subject itself to so many jokes has my respect and my business any day of the week!The food and drinks are what you come to expect from a dive bar. Dick's has daily drink and food specials for Lunch and DInner and a great ladies night and live music on a regular basis. I used to live in White Marsh and this place was the perfect getaway from the typical Fridays, Della Roses on the Avenue, Red Brick Station crowd if you wanted someplace that was more fun then should be legal on a week night and made you feel like Norm when you sat down!

I am very familiar with this bar and Sad to say they are not friendly to people of color. My family have lived in this area since 1999. When I was younger (fresh out of high school) My car broke down on Cheseco Ave (side St) so I went inside to use the phone to call my parents and everyone was staring at me as if I missed the "for whites only" sign on the door or something. I deff would not give this establishment a penny of my money. They get 0 stars from me. So disregard the 1 star. It's there because I had to.

Kind of a dive I guess, but what else did you expect with name like this? Wasn't very busy when we went, and the kitchen was already closed, so I can't tell you about the food. Service was so-so. The female bartender seemed annoyed by the fact we weren't drinking alcohol... just getting water & soda. (Sorry, hon...not everyone drinks!) And apparently no free refills on the soda. My boyfriend drinks diet Coke by the pitcher (literally), and she would only fill it about 1/2-2/3 full. (The male bartender actually filled it right, thank you.)When we got the bill, I was a little surprised, but [the female bartender] said she "only charged for 2 pitchers." Well, that's about all he received due to the lack of filling, so it wasn't really doing anyone any favors. However, if she'd had a better attitude, she would have received a much better tip...cuz even non-drinkers know that they're taking up real estate and you need to make $$. If we go back, it'll be the band(s) that draws us there.

Okay let me start by saying nice relaxed bar, been going here since it was rosedale tavern and sunny owned it. Prices are very fare normally 2.50 a beer, shots around 4 bucks or so. Yes the original name was dicks halfway inn but the neighborhood and school across the street had them change it to dicks "famous" halfway inn. During the week usually up to 15 ppl or so, on the weekends when bands are playing then it gets packed. Food during the week is nothing to write home about but will help an empty stomach in a pinch. They have a set up of 4 plasmas and 4 tube TVs plus keno. Kinda a place if you feel like talking then all the bartenders I have met are very laid back and nice, but if you just feel like watching a game with a cold one they respect that. Full run down gives you mid - top shelf liquor , 2 pool tables , ATM , lottery machine and keno.

I like this place! Great drinks and service. Good people to drink with. Good music from satellite radio. Parking is good. The bad? They could fix up the bathroom. Credit card machine occasionally declines cards that are good.

The stars are mainly for the name. Average bar food but I was glad they had food. I was creeped out just as I walked up to go inside. Needless to say I would never go here by myself but I went because friends asked me to hang out. The sound system is cheap and the vocal mic needs replaced badly from years of vocalists not knowing how to properly use it aka not deep throating it. Bartenders looked like they we a tad high but then again a lot of people did in here. Haha to each their own

i have been going to this bar going on for close to 2 years ever-since i moved into the area. and i consider myself a good tiper tiping $1.00 every beer i get. but after the rude way i was treated on thursday august 21 2014 i think i'm going to have to find another neighborhood bar to go to taking my $2.00 beer and $1.00 tip per beer business somewhere elsr.

I entered this bar because I was at the the tire shop getting my tire fixed and I needed an A.T.M. When I walked In everyone was staring me at I politely said hello everyone. As I turned to use the A.T.M. machine I heard someone yell " what that nigger doing ? " to say the least I was totally disappointed and turned around and ask did some one say anything ? The bar tender a lady looked at me as saying yeah I said it. I was to mad to respond and did not want to show them that I was upset. So no I will not be going back to this establishment even if it's just to use the A.T.M. Beware and be careful if you have to go in here the environment is not FRIENDLY at all. It deserves no stars but in order to post I have to click one star.

One star is obviously for the amusing name.I don't love dive bars and this is probably the divey-est bar I would go to. I've been here very occasionally over the past several years. I've never had the food and probably wouldn't but the drinks are good and cheap, it's never really been packed when I've been (but have never been when a band is playing), and the bathroom surprisingly isn't the grossest I've ever encountered, by a long shot. The last time I was here we had like 4 or 5 drinks for $12 which seems impossible but isn't and that's what makes it worth going back to.
