Cranky Crab

We got a whole bushel of crab here for the family and had the best time deshelling them! Love the Cajun flavour they season the crabs with - like honestly you can't go wrong with Cajun and fresh crab!

Seafood was fresh and great. Good customer service as well. The place is just off a back road and outside seating only. But for those who love fresh seafood this is it.

Best crabs and corn in town! I live out of town and this is my first stop always. Friendly service. Great experience.

On the drive back from Chincoteague, we passed by a crab shack advertising half a bushel of crabs for like $60. That seeded the thought that resulted in a stop at Cranky Crab. We stop by to see what the price were, but Cranky Crab is a very small operation so we felt obliged to order. They definitely weren't as cheap, but the proprietor, "Biscuit" explained that was probably the price for the smaller crabs. The ones here were 7 or 8 inches across (#1s or extra large and very meaty males). We decide to get only a dozen and it took about 20 mins to get them steamed. While we were waiting, my 8 yo asks if he could see the equipment to which Biscuit obliges. He even gives my son a little popsicle from the freezer, which was much appreciated on a hot 90F summer day. He's a grandpa, so maybe that's why he's good with kids. With a nickname like Biscuit and a clean crew cut, I thought for sure he was in the military, but he is/was a firefighter and adopted his the nickname in honor of his dad.Overall, I'm glad we stopped by. The prices might be a bit big for some people, but so are the crabs. Stretch your dollar and save all the crab shells, bits and pieces to make a crab stock. Then use that for your next soup or stew.

Stopped on the way to the beach. Prompt friendly service. Amazing shrimp! a great environment and fair prices. Steamed shrimp - new beach ride tradition !

Service is excellent. They always have the best crabs cooked to perfection. Price is a bargain compared to others in the area. I give them credit, when they are small they tell you and suggest shrimp instead. Very nice people.

Just picked up two dozen awesome crabs. They were the BOMB !!! Sweet Maryland local crabs!!! Great seasoning. You know they 're heavy crabs when you have left overs. Crab and mushroom omelet tomorrow.

I called an hour before arriving to place an order. I was told to call back as they take a half hour to cook. When I called back they were sold out of crabs and I was told to try again at 3:30. The woman could not recommend any places nearby and hung up on me as I was taking. Very unprofessional and rude.

Great crabs! Buy them live or steamed. Quaint crab shack along the side of the road. Service was good.

Great soft crabs, great people! Worth a trip, less than 1/2 mile off Rte. 50. An hour or so from DC, as long as there's no problem on the Bay Bridge...
