Missing the days of a short drive to Langer's, Philippe, and Benjies, I had to save my 200th review and homage to Chick & Ruth's in the heart of Annapolis. It has been years and I smiled when we were seated right in the very same space where I frequented back in my early years. Salivating for the stacked sight of a warm oozey sandwich, the mean hankering for a reuben came with a vengeance. Savory is an indulgence for me and The Senator Ben Cardin reuben here fit the bill.Shout out to Aneesah, our beautiful server! Quick and attending each stall, she maneuvered through the tight spaces to her guests with ease and all smiles. Our Reubens came piping hot with steam atop and fries to burn my tongue just the way I like 'em. We came for the no frills and it was met with full satisfaction. The warm toastyness of the rye, the ooze of the Swiss, the perfect tang of the kraut, and the massive stack of the corned beef... oh what a delicious treat! The pickles was a bonus, simple yet that cooling crunch in between chomps. Timing was on my side this busy weekend as we arrived after the morning rush and just before the lunch crowd swarmed in. Also scored parking right out front! Tables outside are available weather permitting.I absolutely love the nostalgia this place brings and glad to see they continue to serve our community. Oh, I can't wait to return after my fast.

Date of service: Jan 4, 2025Ambiance: Nostalgic feelCustomer service: Excellent Food: Where do I start! So much to choose from. The menu is like a mini dictionary! Oops I'm telling my age. Back to the food... it was absolutely delicious! We could not decide what to eat. We decided on breakfast. My daughter had French toast, bacon and eggs w/ strawberries for the French toast. I ordered country fried steak and eggs. It came with two biscuits and sausage gravy and delly potatoes! LISTEN... don't sleep on the fried potatoes! They tasted just like the fried potatoes I make at home. YUM YUM!! Everything was made to order served hot and with a smile. The seating area reminds of you a dinner down south. They serve wine & beer and they can serve you a hand crafted milk-shakes or malt. There also an upstairs to this quaint restaurant with so many memories plastered to the wall, it really makes for a great place to eat and feel at home. MAJOR PLUS- they serve breakfast ALL DAY- EVERY DAY! And have fresh desserts at the front.

Located on the bustling main strip of downtown Annapolis, Chick & Ruth's Deli is a beloved institution that exudes the charm of a classic American diner. The cozy, no-frills atmosphere immediately transports you to a simpler time, with much of its decor unchanged since it first opened. If you're in town and craving a comforting, home-cooked meal, this is one stop you can't miss.Despite its small size, the restaurant offers a variety of seating options, including booth seating, two- and four-top tables, and space at the bar. The seating is first-come, first-serve, so if you're visiting with a larger group, be prepared to wait a bit for a table, especially on weekends. The menu is nothing short of impressive, offering a vast selection of breakfast items served all day, along with an array of sandwiches and dinner entrees. Portion sizes are generous, so come hungry! On a busy Saturday, my party of two was lucky enough to be seated immediately as a couple of diners were finishing up just as we walked in. We decided to dive into their breakfast offerings.I opted for the corned beef hash, served with eggs over easy, toast, and home fries. The corned beef, made in-house at the deli, was tender and flavorful, pairing perfectly with the crispy, golden home fries. My dining companion went with the biscuits and gravy, which came with eggs and home fries as well. The biscuits were delightfully fluffy and buttery, and the rich, creamy sausage gravy was the perfect complement.Service at Chick & Ruth's was excellent. Our food arrived quickly, and our drinks were kept full throughout the meal--definitely an attentive staff. A pleasant surprise came at the end of the meal when we discovered that we could pay the bill directly at the table using a QR code, making the checkout process seamless and efficient. No need to wait in line at the counter!Overall, if you're looking for a hearty and satisfying meal to fuel your day of exploring Annapolis, I highly recommend Chick & Ruth's Deli. Whether you're a local or just visiting, this spot delivers comfort food at its finest, all with the kind of friendly service that makes you feel right at home.

I'm often in Annapolis for work during the legislative session, and I've visited Chick & Ruth's twice in the last month or so. It's an Annapolis institution that is still great. It's been open since 1965 and has served pretty much every famous person (including thousands of politicians) in its time; its walls are covered in signed photos of happy, famous/important customers. The decor is retro, understated, and comfortable. The service is good (come ready for a chat, because the staff are friendly and chatty, just what I always want at a deli). And I can't lie - I like their food, too! The menu is enormous: breakfast served all day (corned beef hash, biscuits and gravy, chicken and waffles, steak and eggs, lox scrambled eggs, pancakes, eggs benedicts, etc., etc., etc.,); soups (matzo ball, Maryland crab, cream of crab); milkshakes and malts; burgers; fish and chips; crab cakes; wraps; subs; sandwiches; salads; baked potatoes; pie for dessert; and a bunch of other things still. I always love a place that has dishes named for its regulars, and Chick & Ruth's has that in spades. The time I was there, I got a dish that was a favorite of a former Annapolis mayor, and a dish I don't see on menus that often - cream cheese & olives on rye. Don't knock it until you've tried it (unless you don't like olives and then, yeah, stay away). For me, it's one of my favorite sandwiches. So simple and yet so satisfying - and something I rarely see on menus. Coffee refilled constantly, nice chat with my server. Just a great place for breakfast or lunch especially. An Annapolis classic that still hits the spot.

Came here for a late lunch/early dinner on a Saturday. It had a bustling American diner vibe. We were seated right away. We got one of their artisanal milkshakes which you can take home the jar for. It was pretty good. I got the eggs Benedict. The delly potatoes were extremely astringent and left the astringent dryness in my mouth long after we left. I would not order their delly potatoes because of this.

It should be a crime to rate Chick & Ruth's Delly anything less than 5 stars. When visiting a new city or state, this is EXACTLY the multigenerational place you hope to find. Booths worn by decades of camaraderie, a menu expanded little by little until there is barely room for it, servers who have that East coast motherly charm- "you're an important part of my day but not you're not my whole day so get on with it." Of course they'd never say this directly. Portions are generous, menu is diverse, and the wait was EVERY bit worth it. Our visit to Annapolis would have been empty without it.

This is the perfect greasy spoon that has been serving the community for decades. You can feel the small town, local community atmosphere here the second you step in. The walls are covered in photos of local politicians and celebrities, along with students from the local colleges. The specials, the popular ones you can order by number, are all named after locals, politicians and celebrities. The service is fast and friendly. My wife had the Maryland style crab soup and crab cakes. Out of all the places we had crab cakes this trip, this was her favorite and by far the cheapest. I had the Reuben and a chocolate and peanut butter milkshake. Both were delicious and filled you up without breaking the bank. I ate here a lot while in college nearby, not a lot has changed (predates Yelp). The same great service and food for a reasonable price. Even if you're not a starving college student, this is worth a stop for great food for a reasonable price. A worthy alternative to the pricier establishments close by that still delivers great food.

Such a cute old fashioned diner in the heart of Annapolis. We stopped here after a day of shopping and really enjoyed the vintage charm. The food was plentiful and delicious and the staff were friendly and helpful. The decor is so much fun too. Definitely a great stop for lunch especially for a milkshake.

I was out of town and had corn beef hash and potatoes for breakfast at a restaurant and it was trash. It was so bad that I knew once I got back to Maryland, I had to come here and have the dish made properly. Let me tell you all the reasons why this dish was so much better. First of all, they actually make the corned beef hash in house from scratch & it makes a big difference. Second, the potatoes are seasoned, you can literally see it. Third, they are generous with the portion size. This plate could easily feed two people or one person for two servings. Thanks to Chick & Ruth, I'm a bit of a corned beef hash snob.

Very expensive! $13 for a baked potato that was (maybe) half- cooked in the microwave. How hard it is to thoroughly cook a baked potato? It was Served with glop of hard cheese right in the center. Very unappealing and inedible. $5 for a soft drink. $15 dollars for a milkshake. Although it was pretty to look at, the doughnut on top of the milkshake was stale. More than Half of the glass was topped with whipped cream. Very little actual milkshake. Nothing here is made from scratch. Especially Not the biscuits. They come frozen in a box. The waitress also said the Corned beef (Rueben) was "made in house." How exactly do you make Corned beef "in house"? Do you mix up corn and flour then stir in special beef juice and bake in the oven at 350 degrees? I mean seriously, HOW Do you "make" your own corn beef? Anyway, I trusted the waitress and ordered the corned beef and it was not good. Side of macaroni and cheese - again, no. Just stay home and make a box of Kraft. Trust me, it will taste better. I'm sure this restaurant was amazing back when the original owners poured their blood, sweat and tears into it. It's Too bad because this is such a great location with so much foot traffic. $65 for a lunch that was mostly left uneaten. I still can't understand how they can't properly cook baked potato.
